Top 10 things to do with the NXE

Now that you have had ample time to mess around with today's newly released New Xbox Experience, we figured we'd point out a few NXE features that you may not have discovered.Major Nelson created a list of the "Top 10 things to do when you get the New Xbox Experience", which pretty much covers a lot of the NXE's new additions and hidden bits. Didja know you can delete your zero Gamerscore games from your profile? Did you remember to look through the new Community Games? What about installing a game to your hard drive? Go get edjumicated!

There really should be an option to give "Gifts" like the Wii has. Being able to purchase an arcade game, "Premium" theme or XBOX Original and being able to give it as a "Gift" to someone on your Friend's List would be very cool indeed.

Really like the new interface. I'm sure it is coming in the future, but being able to see which Netflix titles are available in HD would be great.

Where did they put "Lock up your console every time you view Friends details." I don't see that anywhere.

Same thing happened to me when i was checking out peoples avatars on my friends list.
I still dont see an improvement for previewing themes you see on the marketplace. Plus now that 90% of my themes are useless, i think i will refrain from buying more. Same with Gamerpics.

I don't have that problem, but I am one of the unfortunate ones who's 360 will NO LONGER READ DISCS. I seriously doubt it's a problem with the drive itself, as I was playing Soul Calibur IV right before I downloaded the NXE. Now, the console won't see so much as an audio CD.

Ditto. The NXE locks up completely whenever I back out of viewing a friend's PARTY details. Only party details, too.

Me too, and there's a post on Penny Arcade saying they had the same problem. It seems pretty widespread, but my other half mentioned that this might be due to everyone crowding the hell out of the system as they check out the new features (and each other's Avatars).

Is there still some way to look through free DLC easily? Right now I can only figure out if the item is free by going into each individual item...

Is anyone else having this same problem: When I'm in a game, and I navigate to the music blade on the guide, and try to select play all music, it basically freezes on the 'loading' animation and I'll have to just press to the guide button again to take it off. The only way I can listen to music is if I do it from the dashboard, won't work at all from the guide...

I have the same problem. I found that you have to start your music in the NXE and then start your game. If you try to play music when a game is loaded, it will just lock up on the loading screen.
I wish there was a way to tell if a Netflix movie is in HD before you start playing it. I know that TV shows Heroes and The Office are in HD. However, knowing what movies or other content is in HD would be a plus.
Also, I had the lockup when going to the Friends section too. You have to just wait on it about 15-20 seconds and then the 360 catches up.

the NXE is pretty cool and all but...
my old background picture was stretched disproportionately but when i switched the display setting to wide screen, it was fine. Then, since the tv i have my xbox on isn't a wide screen, the rest of the dashboard was distorted. );
so i switched to another picture and it stayed proportional to the normal setting on the 360.
kinda odd how now all of my pics that are on my 360's HDD are all suddenly distorted for the normal setting.
just saying... other than that i cant wait to use the party system w00t!

the pictures that are not distorted are ones i transferred from a thumb drive when i first got my 360.
the ones that are proportional are ones i dled from the market place lol.

i had a problem where i couldnt get onto the market place but it fixed in a bit. The only thing i dont like is the lack of variety in the "avatars" *COUGH* mii wannabes *COUGH*. but still. I dont like how no games suppport them yet. And how you cant have to people signed on and doing different things at the same time like the other one. I dont think i worded that right but i hope you get my point.

Sigh... I wants me some Netflix! Stupid US-only features... Grrr! I doubt zip.ca is going to be rolling out their own XBox streaming any time soon... :)

Hope this is the right place for this, apolgies if not. Xbox elite owner using it ONLY as a Media Center Extender and all works great EXCEPT that picture tags do not update correctly. All pics function under folder structure fine, but when tagged, only certain tagged photos show, some that I added tags to 20 days ago now show, but a reboot of either the XBox or the Vista Media Center PC (hard-wired network) does not re-index and show new tags. ANY IDEA IF AN UPDATED INTERFACE COULD BE HELPFUL HERE, OR WORSE IF IT COULD BE HARMFUL TO MY EXTENDER USE AND THEREBY NOT WORTH DOING FOR A NON-GAMER?
