After a week with no XBLA games, we were ready to sink our teeth into something new. This week, we not only get A Kingdom for Keflings, but it also happens to be the first Xbox 360 game that lets players use their Avatar as a playable character. We take the game and our Avatar for a spin in the latest episode of XBLA in Brief. Check it out in the video above.

Definitely picking this up now. I had no interest in this game till this video. Just finished a 100 hour grind on Tales of Vesperia last night and after being reminded how frequently i get chainsawed on gow... i would love to build and kick things with nothing with no worries of consequences
damn rick 100 hours? thats crazy.., I love that game [tales of vesperia] and havent been able to go back to it but is the 100 hours what it takes to get all 1000 GS? Or did you love it just that much to keep leveling or something?
As for K4K its a hell of alot of fun and the music is great and the usable avatar thing got me into it straight away.
I wish. Spending all that time doing side quests and all there is to do netted 730 of the 1000. The other cheevos, such as getting to level 200, are best to do on the 2nd playthrough and on when the grade shop is available for the 10x exp mod and others. Some things aren't available till the second playthrough.
I loved ToV and have not had so much fun on a RPG since FFX, but i won't be hopping to the next for awhile. Quite the Epic game it proved to be, too bad it passed under the radar on a high majority of gamers.
Played the demo a while back, seems like a way to relax and pass the time. Avatar support is a big plus since the regular characters are a little dopey looking, in my opinion.
It's quite addictive... the initial bits where you're looking for the tools can be a little annoying if you haven't found them but need the materials, other than that - wicked goodness
I'm seriously considering knocking down some structures to move them elsewhere. I'm supposed to take bricks to a FACTORY and I haven't even got plans for a factory yet. My industrial zone is already crowded...
This game is incredibly addictive and surprisingly fun. It's a good primer to resource management. Think Sim City meets the playfulness and resource management of Viva Pinata.
Great review Richard.
If anyone wants to try multiplayer on this add me: Tiggle v2.
Good review here. Game looks like fun I'm debating spending some points on it. And good review as always. I usually watch the reviews here even if I've already picked up a game just to see what is said.

Great review. I too knew close to nothing about the game until this vid, it's got me fairly interested.
Sounds to me like one of those games you would play to chill out and relax for a few hours, great stress reliever.

Looks like fun, can other people jump into play with you or do they have to be on the friends list?
Jayenkai @ Nov 20th 2008 4:11AM
I played the demo yesterday morning (It was online stupidly early, before NXE!! There were about 8 people on the leaderboard!! WTF?!!)
Gotta say, I loved it!
It's like Settlers meets Black & White, only with your giant animal actually being controllable, and not a complete arse!
Great stuff.. Very very tempted to pick this one up.
(Albeit skint right now!)

Wow, really great fun, managed to get myself at around 200 on the leaderboards and now my eyes hurt!

This looks like fun! I was thinking about getting this but the video put me over the edge.
I love the NXE! I just went to the new marketplace on my computer at work and put KfK in my queue to D/L on my lunch break - brilliant!
