Bethesda working on Fallout 3 patch

Over on the official Fallout 3 forums, Bethesda community manager Gstaff informed the masses that a Fallout 3 patch is in the works and that it be released for all platforms. Not just the PC. Sadly, that's all the information we have, but Mr. Gstaff promises us "when I've got more details, I'll let everyone know."
Our patch recommendation; a nifty Fallout 3 Google map so we never get lost. We don't want to sound like complaining fools, but we have a tendency to lose our way in the game's open world which is so big and, well ... open. Is there anything else you'd like to see included in a Fallout 3 patch?

How about when it's night and cloudy it's actually dark like it should be or do vault dwellers all have owl like night vision :|
ryan @ Nov 22nd 2008 2:31PM
You mean there is no day/night cycle in this game? Or does the sun never go down?
Momer @ Nov 22nd 2008 2:33PM
There is a very good day/night cycle, but he's complaining because the moon and and starts give off tons of light so walking around outside at night it doesn't look that dark. Your eyes would adjust so it's not that unrealistic, plus there is barely any light pollution.
Carbonize @ Nov 22nd 2008 2:34PM
I mean that when it's 3am and the sky is covered in clouds it's still as bright as if there was a full moon and a clear sky.
Also if you go in a building at night you see sunlight streaming through the boarded up windows but I can forgive that as a way of saving on storage space.
DBoyFlex @ Nov 22nd 2008 8:11PM
You could turn the brightness down. That is what I did. It is more realistic that way. Worked for me at least.
Moonraker0 @ Jan 24th 2009 3:12PM
There is a mod to change that. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=422
Only if you're on PC, obviously...dunno if there are any PC users posting here.
joemoemino @ Nov 22nd 2008 2:33PM
Add moar guns.
Like, a bunch.
david @ Nov 24th 2008 10:20AM
Me fail English? That's unpossible!
Carbonize @ Nov 22nd 2008 2:42PM
Yes why was there no super duper BFG 9000 at the crashed alien scout ship :(
I think they missed a perfect chance for a in joke about some other game like Duke Nukem 3D did with it's "doomed trooper".
SadisticHam @ Nov 22nd 2008 3:25PM
Patch in some fun. :)
Mister Servo @ Nov 22nd 2008 5:07PM
Damn, that's what I was gonna say. Only in jest though. :o
I would say...a weather cycle would be nice. But than if it rained, wouldn't it be radiated rainwater? That'd be a mighty inconvenience.
Maybe more facial and hair options? That's always nice.
munial @ Nov 22nd 2008 3:29PM
How about some weather? Needs more lightning.
Mrblonde @ Nov 22nd 2008 4:38PM
Yes weather system would be nice
brightness @ Nov 24th 2008 7:43AM
Lightning! Real Lightning!
meatee @ Nov 22nd 2008 3:44PM
I just hope they can bring back to life some of the mysteriously dead NPCs without having to start a new game. "Walter, i fixed your water pi... Walter? Walter!!"
Mrblonde @ Nov 22nd 2008 3:55PM
That happened to me too. They should fix the animations. I love fallout 3, but the animations really could have been a lot better and worked on more.
Eli @ Nov 22nd 2008 4:19PM
Remove the bug that makes everything look the same. Upgrade from 1998-era animation engine.
Erik Stroud @ Nov 22nd 2008 10:14PM
Thats what I want too. I havnt played because I was annoyed buy the browns and yellows. I understand that it is a post apocalyptic time, but really, there could have been a little more variety in the visuals.
JWoah1835 @ Nov 22nd 2008 5:00PM
You guys getting any freezing problems when you try to use the railway gun three times in VATS? I don't even use the railway gun because of that.
Viridium @ Nov 22nd 2008 5:28PM
Check the Bethesda forums - LOTS of people have VATS freezes with the railway gun.
I haven't yet encountered any serious bugs (other than my box going RROD while playing), but there are some bad, even game finishing ones out there.
Justin F @ Nov 22nd 2008 5:49PM
How about a fix for when you get stuck in a random place and cannot move because I can't even count the times I have been jumping around on ledges and I get stuck in a crevice of some sort. Also, maybe a more frequent spawn of .44 magnum bullets.
xraybravo @ Nov 22nd 2008 7:55PM

Throw something down and you'll walk over it and get out of the spot your in
abeastlybeast @ Nov 22nd 2008 5:58PM
Only problems I really noticed were that there were not many facial/hair options when making a character which kinda sucked. And I constantly get lost with the map and locater system. It's annoying as dick
stinger503 @ Nov 22nd 2008 6:30PM
Fix the part where you have to start a new game after the story missions end
DBoyFlex @ Nov 22nd 2008 8:14PM
Please. I am nervous of continuing the story because of that. I don't want the universe to end.
Quikboy @ Nov 22nd 2008 6:57PM
A Fallout 3 "Live" Map would also be great too. :)
Chewy @ Nov 22nd 2008 7:16PM
How about the things that actually need to be 'fixed'?
One, what Justin F said. There are parts of the game where you get stuck and have to reload to your previous save. Its mainly been rocks by building walls.
Second, every once in a while when I kill someone from long range without VATS, their body turns into random scribbles in the sky and seizures into oblivion and you can no longer find their body.
Probably not lastly but the only other thing I can think of right now, now and then the Pip-Boy becomes too bright and I can no longer read the screen. It requires restarting your system to be able to read your Pip-Boy.
Any other thoughts?
Brian @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:37PM
I've put in sixty hours, but I have only seen the first issue you mentioned. (Getting stuck)
Which platform are you playing on? I'm using the 360 version.
Chewy @ Nov 23rd 2008 9:12PM
360 as well. Its very random when it happens, but to me it seems as if its on rock formations.
birdshake @ Nov 22nd 2008 7:28PM
Fix the NPC pathways. I hate coming back to Megaton to find that a important NPC is dead because they accidentally fell off the railing from above.
I still haven't been able to do Lucy West's mission because she decided to fall to her death. :(
Other than that I can't really think of anything that needs fixing if you get stuck you in a crevice you can usually just fast travel your way out, unlike in Morrowind where if you got stuck you were royally screwed.
DBoyFlex @ Nov 22nd 2008 8:16PM
I did the regulator perk and the person to talk to died, so I have all of these fingers and nobody to give me tons of caps for them. Pisses me off cause that was gonna be a sure fire income maker and bam, she's gone. Sucks. That kinda stuff is happening way too much.
In defense of these retarded glitches, in any real life scenario, people do stupid things and die all the time, check Darwin awards. Maybe they were going for realistic? Lame, I like to be in control of everything and everybody in a game. If I don't kill them, they should stay alive.
birdshake @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:01AM
I doubt they did it on purpose. Why would they create something that makes part of the game unplayable? I could care less if it was just a random villager but when it's a important npc then that's a different story.
I don't remember any of this ever happening in any of the elder scrolls games so who knows.
Oswaldo @ Nov 22nd 2008 7:37PM
How about a Fable 2 Glowing Trail???? I think that would be nice.
Asok @ Nov 22nd 2008 8:25PM
More music would be nice. I'd like to imagine Three Dog doesn't have a record on repeat constantly when I have GNR on.
Mrblonde @ Nov 22nd 2008 8:24PM
Not patch related, but a Fallout 3 premium theme would be pretty sweet.
Feedback @ Nov 22nd 2008 8:37PM
Level cap lifted and less XP, more random exncounters and something to stop the game ending after the story missions.
LegendaryRedass @ Nov 22nd 2008 8:54PM
Rain would be sweet, however, I think the patch may be just for glitches. They could add a weather pack for dlc, or maybe a pack of goofy cheat codes. I would like to see some vehicles and be able to use vats to set up stunts, then I could sit back and watch the mayhem unfold.
RockerAnimeFreak @ Nov 22nd 2008 9:25PM
well sometimes vats glitches on me and gives off graphical errors like these grey box things. I hate when that happens. Also when I repaired some of the water pipes in megaton I went somewhere else. (to find the West relatives) when I came back my repair skill was 28 instead of 32! :( I had one more to repair. So I hope Bethesda fixes that.
dmg @ Nov 22nd 2008 11:55PM
You people are morons. A patch is for fixing a mistake or minor add-ons not fixing animations of characters or significant additions.
anthonyjh @ Nov 23rd 2008 12:01AM
Shut up.
ryan @ Nov 29th 2008 2:40PM
He's right, something that significant would be considered a Mod or expansion, not a patch.
Bowser Rogozhin @ Nov 23rd 2008 12:27PM
I agree with Anthony. Shut up.
tyboy191 @ Nov 23rd 2008 12:37AM
(SPOILERS!) I'd like to see a better ending, I love the game A LOT, and the climax was totally epic, so you can imagine how I felt when I got a simplistic 2 min slide-show for and ending. (SPOILERS!)
Damien @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:11AM
Some of the best humour in the original games was in the descriptions of objects in your inventory. It adds so much to a pack of donuts when you see that they are still "Fresh!(TM)". Also, I miss the pariah dog.
Magic Whiskey @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:23AM
I don't see any big need for a patch..my game experience with Fallout 3 has been really awesome. It's not frozen ever for me, and yeah I've gotten stuck on one rock one time, but that wasn't a big deal. I just reloaded my last save, and since I save often it wasn't a big deal.
I'd second a Fallout 3 Premium theme, and REALLY like some Fallout 3 Avatar clothing.
erunama @ Nov 23rd 2008 8:06AM
The big request I have is the ability to fast travel at any point when not in combat. It's mighty annoying to travel somewhere (like the school, or the subway), reach your objective, only to have to backtrack out before being able to jump somewhere else.
Christopher @ Nov 23rd 2008 12:45PM
My campaign is glitched at the end of "The American Dream" The convesation that SHOULD happen does not, hence I can't progress through the storyline. It's the next to last mission so I really really don't want to play through the game ALL the way again just to finish it and got the cheevos.
This makes the second game to have a game-breaking campaign glitch for me. TOO Human campaign is glitched too. Lame.
prence @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:06PM
Maybe an on-screen map or something because I honestly spend 95% of my time checking my damn pip-boy map when I'm playing FO3.
SaveusJeebus @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:18PM
Yeah, a better map would be great. The local map is just this side of useless
Hotaru Tomoe @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:32PM
They need to completely overhaul the Tenpenny Tower quest, as the way it is, the only real option for a "good guy" is to avoid it completely as even the good karma path winds up very badly. And if you do what feels right, you wind up getting called a scumbag by Three Dog the rest of the game; often in the same report he calls you the best thing in the wasteland.
