Far Cry 2 set to receive 'Fortune's Pack' DLC

Just when you thought you were getting bored with Far Cry 2's current offerings, Ubisoft has come to the rescue, offering up new Far Cry 2 DLC that any gamer 'Fortune'ate enough to be connected to Xbox Live will have the ability to own.
The Far Cry 2 "Fortune's Pack" DLC will be making its way to the Marketplace sometime by month's end and, for 800 Microsoft points, will add new vehicles and weapons to both the single and multiplayer game. You know, items like a crossbow or a new quad that'll make your custom maps ever more enjoyable.

A tank or a helicopter would have made this a must buy, but heavy truck with a gun? a quad? A silenced shotgun??? a sawed off shotgun big deal. crossbow? New multiplayer maps when you can make your own? I don't see 800 ms points worth of content here. I'm sure gamers will hardly see the new maps anyways because most gamers will not buy this. What a waste.

The quad was one of the most popular vehicles of the first Far Cry (can we get the jet skis back too kthx?), and the Unimog looks awesome for traversing rough terrain if it's anything like it's real-life counterpart.
Silenced shotgun will be awesome too, for when you want to be stealthy + close quarter combat style, I know i'll enjoy it. The crossbow? I'll definitely use that to shoot some animals on the plains. :D
The only thing I wonder about is whether this will make it to where MP has new class types for this, or whether they will be weapon selection alternatives for existing classes, and at what level of upgrade will you unlock them on that class. Plus, does only the host need the DLC, does everyone need the DLC, or what? I assume for the new maps it will probably lock out people who do not have the DLC, but with the new weapons it makes more sense to let people use them if the host has the DLC.
Oh, and if you don't think new multiplayer maps are useful, you probably don't give a damn about ranked matches, but personally I like them because of my retained upgrades so having some more map variations is pretty awesome. And, the Ubi-made maps are pretty good, so that's promising for the quality of MP play on em.

I think the quad could be useful, espically if you can shoot while driving it.

Couldn't bare this game. So tedious and boring. So much traveling and enemy respawns. It was frustrating and annoying. And i was playing on the PC, were i can save anywhere. Can't imagine how you console gamers took this up. So much traveling without any save stations nearby and then enemy respawns. Gosh...

Did you ever play Dead Rising?
I see your point, but I like it when I can't save anywhere. It means you have to actually use skill to do stuff.
Teabag @ Nov 22nd 2008 5:58PM
No, i haven't played Dead Rising...for exactly the same reason you mentioned. For you it maybe a challenge but for me it's frustrating and tedious. Maybe i don't play games for challenges and getting frustrated and irritated.
FC2 was tedious for me. To complete a 5 mins, mission i was set on to travel half way across the map on a slow ass jeep with enemy respawning every 50 feet. Not fun. I liked the game otherwise, though. The gameplay feels solid. And the story a bit interesting. But just this one thing turns me off. Maybe a cheat or two can help.

Will they fix the god damn save corruption with this DLC?
UNSCleric @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:40AM
How about they fucking PATCH THE BUGS before offering DLC. I hit a common bug at 88% that stops me from ever completing the game cause I can't open the door to Mike's Bar. I suffered through this game for 20 hours to get to the end so I could rack up some GS, and then it does this shit.
FIX IT.
