that's a weird easteregg
But the hair color change was needed!
therpham @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:13PM
This makes me wonder if there are any other hidden things like that.
I just wish they had included more clothes from the beginning instead of doing this unnecessary rollout thing they're planning. That and customizable clothing colours.
Cal @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:28PM
Or they simply should have let us choose the colour of the clothes, which can't be at all hard to implement...
Dan Manning @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:58PM
I mean, they have it in Rock Band, why not Avatars? I could actually make my clothes look like my actual clothes! Also, I won't keep seeing people dressed the same as me.
therpham @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:26PM
@Cal: That's what I meant. I guess my sentence structure was a little odd.
Cal @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:43PM
Ah didn't see the last sentence =S
DiggyStyle @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:37PM
Your brain probably unintentionally blocked out the last sentence because of the oddly played "u" in "Colors".
Just kidding, I love Canadians and other people that spell in the proper English way!
wargamer17 @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:14PM
That's awesome!! I was looking for blue hair. I'll have to try this.
Momer @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:19PM
I don't think you have to highlight the hairstyles tile. You just let it idle. Also, why is the link to the Australian Kotaku site?
Diego @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:29PM
because the news were taken from the site
Momer @ Nov 23rd 2008 5:04PM
You don't understand. There is kotaku.com and kotaku.com.au. Link has been changed now anyway.
Ghen @ Nov 24th 2008 7:35AM
Maybe the AU site broke the news first.
Mazrael @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:53PM
black baggy jeans please.. and manly long hair styles..
prence @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:03PM
Is there really such a thing as manly long hair? heh
LeChuck @ Nov 23rd 2008 9:56PM
Yeah. The mullet.
Nathan @ Nov 23rd 2008 5:42PM
That was hidden? I didn't know that. I had the ability to change my hair color from the start but of course that might be because i left it idle for alittle bit before i changed anything.
MDJ2010 @ Nov 23rd 2008 5:46PM
You could always change your hair colour, but this just adds some other colours
Mazrael @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:57PM
(as soon as I click 'send').. long beards..
actually, a little dissapointed with the beard set up... I mean, I have a mustache & long goatee, & sideburns..
had to settle for the plain goatee.. make's mine look like an adults only film star..
josh @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:05PM
lol.. im sure they would add more options down the line. it seems everyone likes this avatars.. mine looks like a columbian druglord lol..
Ian @ Nov 23rd 2008 5:36PM
i've got big sideburns and a soul patch. there is no soul patch to be found in the thing. thats disappointing.
Ben_X @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:01PM
I hate the avatars. Even Miis are more in depth then these. It is imposable to make my avatar look like me.
They need more hairstyles! They don't have a none female curly hair style.
SytheMaster @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:27PM
agreed I have short curly hair and none of the styles looked like my hair at all!
R0B3RT @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:01PM
Mine spun after a minute but I didn't get any new colors this sucks.
Cole @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:11PM
That happened to me too, but then i tried again but this time clicking the icon just as it started spinning and it worked. Try that
aHortz @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:16PM
I need a toque, my head is cold.
Rob @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:36PM
This works many times. You do not have to be on the hairstyles tile, any tile will do. If you do it a second time the tile will spin and the colors will be hidden again.
Magic Whiskey @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:44PM
Made a pretty sweet Joker..Thanks again, Dustin.
Cal @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:44PM
They need the 'buzz cut' hair to look vaguely like the real world equivalent... There's no option between skinhead and halfro =(
rookie.of.the.year @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:46PM
You don't need to spin, just idle over the hairstyles option.
Also, saying the Miis have more depth is just stupid, I'm not a fan of the concept at all, but the Avatars are far more customisable than the Miis, particualrly in terms of hair and clothes. The facial features are stunningly similar, to the extent that I'm surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit.
Erik J. Barzeski @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:10PM
Your face was more realistic with a Wii because you can adjust the position, size, and spacing of the various facial items.
With the avatars, you use the default only.
I'm of the opinion that my Wii looks a lot more like me than my avatar. Partly due to the lame hair choices (short hair here, parted on one side, no bald spot at all) and partly due to the lack of facial feature functionality.
Conor @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:05PM
This has me thinking there's more of these "eggs" in the avatar creation or even the nxe in general.
Thanks for keeping us posted X3F!
Stacey @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:21PM
The girls need some chucks too.
Our shoe selection blows. I have yet to meet a female gamer who wears heels and strappy sandals.
Give us some cuter sneakers damnit!
pikelet @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:45PM
Urgh I know...none of the female shoes match ANY pair of shoes I actually own. Considering how many shoes I own, that is saying something. I had to settle for the yellow 'pumps' which are identical to the 'ballet flats'...dear MS, those two kinds of shoes are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
Kayla @ Nov 24th 2008 3:58AM
Yeah, the girl avatars definitely need chucks. Considering I know way more girls than guys who wear them, I don't see why it's not an option for women, but it is for men.
I was so mad when, after my boyfriend set his avatar up and showed me the chucks, I went and set mine up and found out there weren't any available for a female avatar.
Sexist clothing is sexist.
horngreen @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:43PM
I won't even wait the inute it takes to activate this lame option.
MDJ2010 @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:49PM
I think given time the customisation of these will be great, the only dissapointment I have at the moment is that my girlfriends female avatar can have a beanie but I cant.
If you want to have more fun with your avatar though get Kingdom for Keflings, makes them much more worthwhile and usable.
triscuitbiscuit @ Nov 23rd 2008 3:59PM
Maybe that's why up to this point, Major Nelson was the only one with colored hair... He knew the secret and didn't want to reveal it... Greedy Major!
GibGirl @ Nov 24th 2008 12:29AM
No, he wasn't the only one, just the most prominent one. I've had purple dreads on mine since the beginning.
Lysergio @ Nov 24th 2008 1:22AM
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but within the Avatar creation/customization menus, clicking in the Right Analog stick makes your guy burp! Tilting his head up and down will alter the pitch or tone of the burp. Also, if you spin him(LT) or burp too much, he/she will get dizzy.
Hadn't seen this covered yet... Any more?
Julie! @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:21PM
They do need more hairstyles & clothes! Why are there hairstyles that go past shoulder length?
Benny @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:53PM
I'm glad this is hidden in there, my wife has bright red hair and the reds available weren't nearly bright enough. The hidden red is much better but still not quite enough.
Rare do quite like to hide things in their games so why not the NXE too? There is surely more in there.
RedSonRising @ Nov 23rd 2008 5:54PM
nice to have some more options, hopefully theres more hidden away to unlock.
i really wish we had more color choices and clothing options. i hope they add more customizing options alongside new clothes and features in the future..
(thanks for the shout out Dustin)
steven @ Nov 23rd 2008 6:52PM
Major nelson said on Attack of the Show that there are a ton of things hidden in the NXE. I guess this is the first of many.
Cyber-Tyrant @ Nov 23rd 2008 7:08PM
Japanese hair!
YAY!
Frank @ Nov 23rd 2008 8:25PM
it spined but i didnt get the hair styles
Kayla @ Nov 23rd 2008 10:33PM
Cool, but I'm still mad that female avatars can't wear Converses. >:/
onezeon @ Nov 24th 2008 4:38AM
do it 2-3 times.....i had to but it works
DeadPlasmaCell @ Nov 23rd 2008 11:51PM
Going to be pretty funny when MS finds out and they're like "....Damn, there goes our first wave of DLC"
shadowracer @ Nov 23rd 2008 11:52PM
Thanks for posting this. It already has all the pieces I needed to make ledger's joker(yeah every clothing piece, in the right color to boot). I was just missing the lime hair. And the one green shade it unlocks was the perfect one.
My avatar looks identical to the film version, well almost.
I think it's interesting that with the limited selection it has just the right items to make the character. No body else do it.
Ghen @ Nov 24th 2008 7:37AM

not you I assume.
