BIG Fable 2 news: Knothole Island DLC

After a week long delay, Lionhead Studios and Microsoft just pulled the curtain back on their BIG Fable 2 announcement and, as we expected, it's new downloadable content!
Releasing mid-December, the 800 Microsoft point Fable 2 "Knothole Island" DLC will be a new island to explore, where it's your hero's goal to bring sunshine back to an island that has suddenly been blanketed in snow. Snow that has left everyone either dead or really chilly. The DLC will also come with new items including Knight's Boots, Assassins Gloves, Weight Loss Potion and a collectible silver book. In total, there will three new quests, six new weapons, dozens of potions, and 50+ new leaderboards.
Finally, for those who aren't interested in the Knothole Island DLC yet want to play co-op with those who have made the purchase, Lionhead will be releasing free DLC that'll allow access to the island through co-op.

Buying!!!
Dishwasher @ Nov 24th 2008 1:01PM
NOT BUYING!
Conor @ Nov 24th 2008 12:57PM
I traded in my copy of Fable 2 for Fallout...
DBoyFlex @ Nov 24th 2008 1:37PM
And Fallout shall receive substantial DLC in the future. It's a great game.
Azerael @ Nov 24th 2008 5:15PM
I bought both. :D
The Dom @ Nov 24th 2008 12:59PM
Sweet sounds good. I hope they keep adding content so we dont have to wait several years for new Fable content again!
Joe @ Nov 24th 2008 1:02PM
Is it just me or does that not sound like it is worth $10. Dont get me wrong I love the game but idk about this.
Dadidito @ Nov 24th 2008 1:08PM
Ill be watching this one but 10 bucks for 3 quests... lets see how long they are. If they are lengthy like the primary quests in Fable 2 I'll definitely buy.
Don't trust DLC at all. BTW... GTAIV... if you are going to release DLC at all get a hint from Fable 2. Don't wait a year to release it.
Larry @ Nov 24th 2008 1:04PM
I just finished Fable 2 this weekend so I am happy to take my character to some place else to quest with.
Mlong128ir @ Nov 24th 2008 1:05PM
Maybe I was a PC gamer for too long, but $10 for 3 quests? Maybe if it was 1/6th of the content of the full game it'd be worth it, but considering what else I can buy for $10, I don't think I'll be getting this. Where's the holiday spirit of giving? Add some yule logs and Christmas wreaths to the town and call it a gift for all your fans or something.
Trogdor @ Nov 24th 2008 1:09PM
Not Buying. What a joke. How about they fix the crappy co-op before they try to overcharge for this content? Only a couple of new clothing items? Please.
Arnon @ Nov 24th 2008 2:36PM
What does 'fixing the crappy co-op' have to do with this being worthwhile? Personally it's a day-one buy for me, as this is what DLC SHOULD be.
New world, New quests, New clothing, New weapons, New items, New leaderboards, etc.
When I see people buy $10 arcade games that last them 4-6 hours at tops and have absolutely nothing to them, I don't get the logic.
Delgado @ Nov 24th 2008 8:19PM
Arnon, if you're going to bring up a time vs. money argument, you really think THIS $10 is going to net you more than 6 hours of gameplay?
They haven't fully detailed the DLC of course, but few games (if any) have ever released $10 DLC with that much more time added on.
Arnon @ Nov 25th 2008 12:43AM
Uh yes? I do believe it's going to net me more gametime.. In fact, I'm 100% positive it will, as I play the game for fun, not to rush through crap.
Since when have you bought DLC that was worthwhile? Not some freaking map-pack, armor, etc.? Only one I can think of is Oblivion.
Serio @ Nov 24th 2008 1:09PM
Wow, it's like a completely new expansion! Awesome! I'm going to put 2100 MSP on my Wishlist, so this will be a nice addition to my collection.
Mazrael @ Nov 24th 2008 1:14PM
But can I do the quests and keep it snow'd.. my favourite place was covered in snow on Fable 1..
Or nstead of fixing the co op ( I thought it was terrible), as no one I know plays it know, take out the need for co op to get all the dolls..
ZEBRA NINER @ Nov 24th 2008 3:53PM
They should have more snow in the game. I really liked the look of snow from the first level.
Skizz @ Nov 24th 2008 1:20PM
it's not like it's just a few quests guys from what i read it has 3 quests, 6 weapons, and a chunk of land to explore with probably dig spots etc. and easter eggs so why not buy, i think it's worth 10 bucks... i would trade two jack-in the crack meals for this dlc (about 10 bucks), i would also trade two packs of marlboro reds for this dlc (around 10 bucks). would you not? i mean seriously it's only 10 bucks what's the deal?
Joe @ Nov 24th 2008 1:38PM
I think I am just so disappointed that the co-op does not work correctly. Fix that and I will buy anything because the game is great.
DBoyFlex @ Nov 24th 2008 1:41PM
Or, if you do not eat out, smoke, or drink, you already have a net profit on your other gaming counterparts and can afford to buy the DLC for yourself and a few friends.
Oh, do they plan on re-enacting the purchasable gifts? Gift points, games, content, etc? That would be a nice move.
Polybotic Thief @ Nov 24th 2008 1:43PM
Eh, its tempting to support this developer, believe I don't think 10.00 is a lot of money, but I also think that this offering doesn't have a lot of content...we need a specific price for things I guess, because some of that stuff is worth it, but a lot of the stuff isn't. The company needs to figure out what the consumer actually wants and provide that, and I'm sure a lot of the whining would go away, not all, but a lot. Me personaly found the game has the most replayability by providing things like Gargoyles for achievements or in-game rewards, Property restoration, pub games, expessions, and upgrades to make the gameplay new, not extended. That is what consumers will pay for, anything else they might as well go buy a new game, it is cheaper. (hahaha, esp. used) But I guess I can't really hate them for trying, but come-on you make the games that sell you have to know what we like and what we don't....digital clothes don't keep me warm, I don't care about them (not so much I'd take money away from buying actual clothes) The quests are all redundant also, the only reason to keep going on quests is to make my character stronger to get through the other "stupid; fill-in" quests faster so I can get back to searchin for gargoyles and silver keys. How about givin us something we want to buy (new features, like those that you praise have come to the 2nd verison of a game, that were left out of the 1st) packaged with things that will extended the replayability. That's the only way you will soloidate the DLC market, I can't see how else it works to your benifit esp. when all I hear from developers is wahh wahh we need more money.
drewsnysss @ Nov 24th 2008 3:16PM
Paragraphs and punctuation is your friend.
Pasha @ Nov 24th 2008 1:46PM
How about fixing the game instead!?
I can't interact with any objects because i have a message at the top of the screen that says "Press 'A' to skip conversation" as a result of a bug in the "Rescuing Charlie" quest.
Neuromancer @ Nov 24th 2008 1:48PM
Is it just me or does the name "Knothole Island" sounds vaguely dirty?
Jack Tretton @ Nov 24th 2008 2:54PM
Could be worse: Sphincter Peninsula!
Tom @ Nov 24th 2008 2:17PM
ZOMGZ0RZ!!!
There's something about a shrine of resurrection written on the main page... No Spoilers but for those of you who finished the game and didn't choose the middle ending...Do you think that maybe...? Well you know.
readmore @ Nov 24th 2008 2:19PM
Since I got ripped off with my LE purchase, this should be free for me. I'm not one to ask for free stuff but after paying extra for the LE edition and then not being able to get my extras (I opened the chest before I put the code in), then they GIVE AWAY the extras for free to everyone else I truly feel cheated. And don't get me started on the changing seasons that didn't make it into the game. It was really a huge reason I got the game. I can't believe how disappointed I am with this game.
Arnon @ Nov 24th 2008 2:37PM
You cant open the chest UNLESS you put the code in. It will come up with a notice saying things like 'visit Lionhead.com!'
Alex B @ Nov 24th 2008 2:27PM
If it has more achievements, I'm in
Heather @ Nov 24th 2008 2:31PM
no achievements = do not want
DSK UK @ Nov 24th 2008 2:48PM
I think this content should have the same price as the Mass Effect DLC (i.e. 400MSP). That DLC was a day one purchase for me as it added 1hr and 1/2 for not a lot of money. I'll buy this as long as it adds 3hrs worth of content
prence @ Nov 24th 2008 2:49PM
This IS what DLC should be; however, only 3 quests for 10 bucks? Ehh.. the game itself had like 80 quests for 60 bucks. I'm seeing a pretty borked ratio of quests for cash here.
HouseOfBacon @ Nov 24th 2008 2:58PM
I dunno... I absolutely love Fable 2, but it feels 80% realized, like it was ALMOST a perfect game. Changing seasons, co-op let downs, LE screw ups. I know it doesn't sound like I love it. But this stuff doesn't justify making my total game purchase 80 dollars, and I could get good trade-in value towards Fallout.
snakegriffin @ Nov 24th 2008 3:18PM
Trading-in = FAIL. Craigslist/Ebay = WIN.
Don't give into the Gamestop used-game ripoff. It's a sham.
HouseOfBacon @ Nov 24th 2008 3:35PM
Perhaps I will take your advice sir. I bet I could get 50 bucks for LE on Craigslist. At least 45...
Eric @ Nov 24th 2008 3:20PM
*****SPOILER*****
****SERIOUSLY STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T BEAT FABLE 2*****
I refuse to play fable again until they give me my dog back. BASTARDS.
guttertalk @ Nov 24th 2008 4:11PM
If only Molyneux was so careful with spoilers . . . . I watched one of the early demos, and he blurted out what happens to the dog. So, I've known for a year what's coming, which is irritating (almost as irritating as the T2 commercials and trailers years ago that gave away who Arnold's character really was).
Azerael @ Nov 24th 2008 5:19PM
You had the choice to save it... you didn't make it.
That, my friend, is your own fault.
LaughingMan @ Nov 24th 2008 5:42PM
I'm always suspicous when DLC comes out too near the release date. (like this game) Didn't the game seen strangley empty of clothing and tattoo/hairstyles? I hope we don't get horse armored to death.
Still though, the ability to play the DLC as co-op even if you don't have it is a pretty good idea.
POLYBOTIC tHIEF @ Nov 25th 2008 1:39AM
But does it justify the things that were left out??
Really think if the consumer will buy into Yes...
I want some of that stuff if you do.
Scott @ Nov 27th 2008 4:18PM
Here's an idea- how about another dog to train? or maybe a dog reincarnation spell???
