After its
official announcement well over a year ago,
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is finally landing on Xbox Live Arcade. For the always controversial price of 1200 Microsoft Points, you get a completely redrawn cast of characters and a while slew of reworked backgrounds. Let's not forget the game comes with some revamped tunes as well. Oh, and of course there's the (reportedly) improved netcode too, which will hopefully smooth out those online wrinkles.

get the trial game and tell us what you think. Was it worth the wait? For that matter, is it worth the scratch? Basically,
is it the best around?

1200 MS points for a game with like 4,000 frames of redrawn animation, plus new background, music, etc. is MORE than worth it. Don't complain about the value of this. This easily worth double the price. Best netcode for a professionally produced game. GGPO and 2dfighter are better, but this is still pretty good. I'm definitely expecting my rep to plummet. This morning I already had a guy yell at me and another quit after I perfected him. :D

I was always a big street fighter fan at the arcades, but as the only gamer in my household, and most of my socialising taking place in bars, I don't think the 1200 points price is worth it. I've played the trial and it is fun though.
I guess I can just go down as undecided.

same. Easy conversion (??) is 800 points is 10 bucks, therefore 1200 would be 800 plus 400 (5 bucks) and viola, 15 bucks. Ok, so we pay a cent more than psn. Wow, that made me sway the other way...not.

I should have been playing Banjo-Kazooie over a week ago. I was hugely disappointed that GameStation didn't give me a pre-order code.
I should have bought Banjo-Kazooie today and be playing it right now, but Microsoft decided that they wanted to annoy people who have no hope of getting their preorder code even more and delayed the game.

The demo is pointless. It's local multiplayer only.
As I only have one pad I can't play.
I'm not paying 1200 points for a game I can't try first.

One controller = absolutely completely rediculously useless demo.
If they REALLY didn't want to show off the AI in the demo, then at the very least they could've put in the standard "CPU player stands stationary" 'Practice' mode thing.

if u actually think about it your saving money, cause the 360 charges no tax not even if you buy the cards in the store which i do. My bro owns a ps3 and he bought and 20 dollar card hoping to get 2 10 dollar games and realized that after the transaction he only had about 8 and a half dollars left. So 360 if def the better deal to save a couple of dollars with.

For all we know the AI might be absolutely terrible in the game and that's why they haven't kept it in the trail, or the game might turn out to be a shitty remake but people can't see because they only have one pad.
Putting down 1200 on a blind purchase is stupid.
But yeah, this stupid demo has stopped me thinking about purchasing the game since I can't try it.

Aero, if you aren't sure if you should buy this, don't. Because you'll be one of those players who bitch about throws and people doing fireball traps and give players bad rep for using real SF strategy. If you care about the AI, you're going to miss a lot of what makes SF so great and revolutionary to the FG community.

No, but if you're going to whine about $15 and you don't have any idea what you're getting, you're probably not going to like what SF is all about: person to person competition. You can only do so much for a demo. SF: Hyper Fighting had the exact type of demo. Did people whine? Not really.

GoBob: Are you serious? Hardcore franchise fanboys like you really piss me off. Game developers make their money by selling their games to casual gamers. I'm no SF/fighting game legend, and I had a hard time beating the SF II' on the easiest difficulty because of the crushing AI.
Capcom/Whoever else just lost a sale because the AI was the single thing I was going to judge this game on. I don't give a shit about netcode because I always get my ass kicked online, and sure the menu music is cool but I'm sure not spending $15 to get my ass kicked on the easiest difficulty.
Saying you shouldn't bother with this game if you don't go straight to to the buy button is saying you don't want this game to make any money. If this game doesn't make any money, than the company is definitely less likely to make others like it.

You know, I'm not going to go into this, but I will say that Street Fighter: Hyper Fighting is one of, if not still, the best selling XBLA title to date. I'm sure Capcom is crying that you won't buy their game over the fact that the demo didn't have com play.
If all you care about is the AI, you would have hated the original Super Turbo. It literally cheated and even good players have a hard time with it. But it is the most popular SF game to date. Why? The balanced characters made PvP incredibly deep. Besides, the AI in HD Remix is way easier. You can even make it easier than the default, so I'm pretty sure just about anyone could beat this if they put in some effort.
Why is Street Fighter 2 such a big deal? It was the first arcade game where beating a human was considered better than beating the computer.
@Mazrael, your lag worries are understandable. This game has the best netcode around if you ever get interested in online play. Lag issues shouldn't be that big of a deal for this game.
Besides, what's $15?

if i wasn't already so adament about buying this i would've been pissed its only local multiplayer, but seeing as i had my points ready and waiting and i've bought the game i feel like it is a sound investment considering how much effort went into it and especially after considering what i got when i bought for the original SF2 on XBLA

I will probably buy it, (its this or mk vs dc), but I get the feeling that this is for the hardcores (especially online) and not for the casual gamers. Ill make good use of local multiplayer.
I played a lot of SF2 on genesis/snes back in the day, the idea of "remixing" old games in HD is a great one and should be done to more classics

I agree with those above, why can't I fight the AI.. not interested with the online stuff.. I'm in the UK.. I've got quite fast broadband for this country.. but I still have to suffer a lag advantange in each game I try online.. Streets of Rage 2 was unplayable for me (either it was bad lag or the other guy was cheating somehow).. I do prefer Virtua Fighter over Street Fighter, but I'm pretty much an offline or co op player.. I've got 3 pads but no one I know has played anything that wasn't Tekken..
I've got World Warriors on the Wii, but I can't stand all those squares on my HDTV..
all I'd wasnt is the first couple of fights to see if the AI was decent.. for me SF is for chilling out with nostalgia.. 4 face buttons feel a bit wrong.. where VF fits nicely..

If you play the remixed mode the computer AI is not too difficult to play on easy. On Medium it is a little harder and it gets really hard if you go up from there. The game is not like the first hyper fighting where the AI was rediculous. You can get the achievements no matter if you play hard or easy as well and with four levels of difficulty I think it is a great buy for casual gamers as well as old sf2 pros.

I've got to agree with the comments about this demo being useless. Requiring a 2nd local controller just to try this out is ridiculous. Furthermore, it's not just important to test out the AI -- it's important to test out the control/feel/ability to execute moves. I sure don't want to purchase a game where I am going to inevitably end up playing online against very good players if I can't at least see how hard it is, given the xbox's d-pad, to pull off the various moves/combos.
Ridiculous that Capcom couldn't allow us to take this thing for a spin without a second controller.
