Rare 'may do something' with Killer Instinct franchise

Being the teases that they love to be, Rare studio head Mark Betteridge told Eurogamer that they're still kicking around the idea of bringing back Killer Instinct, but that the idea would have to be something uniquely special."Killer Instinct is an IP that is fondly remembered and we may do something with it," Betteridge admitted, "but it's a tricky market to be like the old Killer Instinct." If Rare were to bring back Killer Instinct, they'd require some sort of market "revolution", as was done with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Let's just hope that if they were to do another KI, that it wouldn't stray too far away from the golden formula.

Personally I think the amount of 12 years old who would buy it would make them a massive profit. Live and Reloaded was great. Just imagine all the spoof possibilities, GoW, Halo ext. Conkers furry little head in a Cog Armour killing Tediz.

Seriously, where the heck is a new Conker game? Mario Galaxy and Ratchet and Clank have definitely shown there's still a market for platformers, and with the 360's target audience, a high quality platformer with adult oriented humor could sell like crazy.

Yeah. I want a game that has a tone of the old school nintendo games we grew up playing. Kinda like what they are doing with sega, but with battletoads, final fight, contra, etc.

Just make a new good fighting game. There aren't enough good fighting franchises right now, and even if you tweak the gameplay a little, it will be a welcome addition to my game library.
Don't pull a Nuts and Bolts, I'm still trying to get over that crapfest.

I remember playing this on super nintendo. Graphics were sharp and innovative back then. I just hope they don't butcher it, and take out it's original formula to the point where it becomes another nuts and bolts.

What's there to revolutionize? Make a good fighting game, that's all the fans want. They don't want a Killer Instinct Kart Racer or some other genre bending game. It would be the simplest game in the world for them to make and one of the easiest cash-ins too boot.

At a minimum, copy Super SF 2 HD Remix or (whatever its called) formula. Improve the graphics and give us KI: Gold or KI2, sell for $15 via XBLA. THey would rape in profits and all would be happy!
