After the title was
delayed -- presumably so those who
pre-ordered Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts could feel a little more special -- Microsoft has
announced that the original
Banjo Kazooie will finally be headed to
Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday. The game will be available for the price of 1200 Microsoft Points (been seeing that price a lot lately, haven't we?) and features Banjo and his pal Kazooie in the original game that launched the series way back on the Nintendo 64. Apart from being one of the more well-known platformers,
Banjo Kazooie also offers connectivity with
Nuts & Bolts, allowing gamers to unlock new content in the XBLA game by playing its console-bound cousin.

Finally, I can see what all the fuss is all about.
iFester @ Dec 1st 2008 5:17PM
Hmm... good week for downloadable games finally. Banjo Kazooie off XBLA and Super Stardust Portable for the PSP off the PlayStation Network.
AoE @ Dec 1st 2008 7:19PM
last week was better.... SSFIIHD > Banjo Kazooie. Super StarDust Portable is quite rad though.
pete @ Dec 1st 2008 8:55PM
im sry but the replay value for SSFIIHD is SO limited. seriously, you either play against the bots or you play online, both being extremely cheap and unbalanced. at least banjo's campaign was over 30 minutes.....
Eddie @ Dec 1st 2008 5:49PM
Now if only they would release a patch so you can go back and get a jinjo jigsaw piece you may not have grabbed when it first appeared... damn you 99 jiggies!!!
flameofdoom666 @ Dec 1st 2008 7:23PM
That sucks... :-(
Pudge @ Dec 1st 2008 6:02PM
What if I just want Banjo OR Kazooie? WHAT SAY YOU RAREWARE!?!
OO Deagle OO @ Dec 1st 2008 6:20PM
yeah except for the fact that this one is actually worth the 1200 (excluding castle crashers )
offday @ Dec 1st 2008 8:28PM
Agreed. I'll pay that for a classic game like Banjo Kazooie. So many games these days suck, when a classic game gets re-released you should hop on that.
The Master potty[Taylor is da man] @ Dec 1st 2008 6:26PM
^O^ Hurray Finally!
Kokomadeta @ Dec 1st 2008 7:02PM
I'm not paying that. $15 for a game I played 10 years ago isn't worth it. I don't care how good it looks or how well it runs. I'll pay 800 points, but 1200 is too, too much.
Sorry Rare, but given that all your games after Perfect Dark" have sucked, I'm not going to gladly fork over a bunch of money so you can continue to screw up the Perfect Dark series and the Banjo-Kazooie series.
OO Deagle OO @ Dec 1st 2008 9:13PM
your an idiot shutup rare owns and Banjo coming to the xbla is like a dream come true
Sagar @ Dec 1st 2008 9:24PM
Damn Deagle, what is wrong with you? Someone has an opposing opinion, and you answer by saying "Noo u r idiat".
Anyway, I disagree with you Koko, but I'm not going to insult you because of it. The XBL Banjo-Kazooie is improved, as you mentioned, but it's still a great game. I guess I can understand not wanting this if you still have it on your N64, but it's a great experience for those who haven't played it well worth $15.
And I haven't played the new PD game, but have you tried the new B-K? It's not a traditional platformer, but it is a fun game regardless. I wouldn't say Rare "screwed it up".
vidGuy @ Dec 2nd 2008 11:02AM
Solution: stock up on MS Points when a brick and mortar store has a sale. With my discounted points, I only paid $10 (equal to 800 points) each for Braid, Castle Crashers, and soon BK.
Strud @ Dec 1st 2008 8:21PM
"Banjo Kazooie also offers connectivity with Nuts & Bolts, allowing gamers to unlock new content in the XBLA game by playing its console-bound cousin."
Actually, it is the other way round. Rare have added new parts to the original game that allows you to collect an egg on each level. This then appears in Nuts and Bolts as a crate containing additional vehicle parts (and an extra 0-point achievement).
offday @ Dec 1st 2008 8:30PM
I was wondering what you could possibly unlock in the original banjo kazooie by playing the new one.
DJcube @ Dec 2nd 2008 5:51AM
Actually, those "new parts" were in the original game. You just needed passwords to access them.
Such as "CHEAT OUT OF THE SEA IT RISES TO REVEAL MORE SECRET PRIZES" to unlock the island in Treasure Trove Cove with the Purple Stop n Swap egg.
BFBeast666 @ Dec 1st 2008 8:26PM
A clear no-go again. Even if it were the next best thing to sliced bread, I'll not blow 1200 MSP on an emulated N64 module. What happened to "Retro games will be cheaper than original titles"?
offday @ Dec 1st 2008 9:17PM
Watch the comparison video on game trailers. It's clearly more than just emulated.
Tony @ Dec 1st 2008 10:37PM
The game is seriously overpriced. It looks better, they fixed a few things and added in proper usage for Stop n' Swop, but I just don't get why this is worth $5 more than most XBLA games.
I'm glad I got it for free with Nuts and Bolts.
TwisteH @ Dec 2nd 2008 11:17AM
Been looking forward to this for a long time, always wondered what all the fuss was about - haven't played a platforming games for years either. Anyone who pre-ordered it know what file size is ? Cheers.
PeacefulOutrage @ Dec 2nd 2008 11:41AM
Its only around 50MB, less I think. Lots of fun, though. Playing it now. I want to beat it before I fire up Nuts and Bolts.
MMLgamer @ Dec 3rd 2008 3:39AM
Sheesh. That's less space than the trailer for the game. Oh well, what can I expect from an Xbox virtual console title.
Tann @ Dec 2nd 2008 1:25PM
yay i saved some money i guess when i preordered nuts and bolts which i think is good:)
