XBLM Holiday Deal of the Week: Legendary Map Pack for 400 points
Major Nelson sends word that Microsoft is beginning a new promotion this week, the Xbox Live Marketplace Holiday Deal of the Week. Throughout December, Microsoft will announce a new deal of the week for Gold members only on a certain content from the Xbox Live Marketplace. This week's deal is the Legendary Map Pack for Halo 3, which will be discounted from 600 Microsoft Points to 400 starting tomorrow (Halo fans may recall that the original 800 point price was reduced to 600 earlier this year).
For only five bucks, you can grab three maps for Halo 3 which include Ghost Town, Avalanche and Blackout. The deal will only be available for one week -- again, starting tomorrow -- so you'd best think fast if you want to take advantage of it. A new deal will be announced next Monday and more deals are expected to follow throughout December.

I'm tempted.... but I want to see what else is coming out later this month...

At least it is all regions. Being Canadian, I missed out on the Black Friday Sale. If there are some good deals later on(since i've already got this map pack) maybe it'll be worth it.
joeybeast @ Dec 1st 2008 4:33PM
Here's my counter-offer, 0 MS points.
DBoyFlex @ Dec 1st 2008 5:30PM
I will double that and raise you 0. That is the most I will pay for it also.

This makes me think another map pack is around the corner and the Legendary map pack will be free very soon.
Brian @ Dec 1st 2008 6:17PM
Microsoft and bungie have said it will never, ever be free.
and bungie has already said there will be a new map pack soon.
DJcube @ Dec 1st 2008 4:40PM
I'll wait until it's free.
Brian @ Dec 1st 2008 5:32PM
It's never, ever going to be free. Microsoft and bungie said so.
DJcube @ Dec 1st 2008 5:44PM
Then I'll never have it.
offday @ Dec 1st 2008 4:53PM
Already got rid of Halo 3.
Timerider @ Dec 1st 2008 5:05PM
Maybe if I still played Halo 3.
I'm waiting for TF2 to be updated.

I've started playing this game again recently and almost bought this the other day. I even added MS points to my account. My procrastination has finally paid off!
pete @ Dec 1st 2008 8:52PM
imo, its not that worth it. you essentially already have blackout in the retail version of halo 3(in the form of a jungle setting), avalanche is way too big especially since they got rid of BTB, and ghost town is nothing special... just a series of awkward walkways that all lead to one central grenade-tossing hotspot. save your points for the mythic map pack
Deezul @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:27AM
And then the special mythic only areas will require Legendary, so you'll have to buy it anyway if you want to play with matchmaking...
d889 @ Dec 1st 2008 10:52PM
now maybe lets put some of those maps into the ranked playlists... im sick of all the ranked team slayer maps and no one plays team swat lol

I have spent countless hours playing Halo 3. Over 5000 matches logged along with custom games with friends and family, story mode (more than once). It truly is a great game that can capture your attention for a very long time. But enough with the hype about it I don't play it anymore! My cousins that used to play don't play it anymore, and I have moved on to CoD5. For some reason now whenever I go over to Halo3 from CoD5 it has a lot of graphic lag, it twitches a lot. I don't know if it has to do with the latest XBL update, I didn't put it to harddrive, or the CD or just the fact that I have been come accustomed to the smooth and much better polished graphics from CoD that Halo3 looks like crap now. Either way, Halo is great, but I have moved on - not saying CoD5 is better it was just better for me to get something else to do; damn I need a girlfriend.

This is not enough to get me to use the one months free "Gold" membership I got bribed with when my 360 red-ringed itself off to the hospital. I'll keep watch on next week though ;)
Merehorseplay @ Dec 2nd 2008 1:27PM
I for one will never buy a MP map for any game because I want make sure everyone has it.
Jason @ Dec 9th 2008 12:40PM
@ Brian, #9 & 11 - I think you need to look again. No one's EVER said it won't be free. What Bungie has consistently said is "We are not aware of any plans to make it free."
Considering that Microsoft sets DLC prices, and Bungie isn't part of M$ anymore, the statement means only that they're not privy to any plans to make it free (if there are any at all).
It probably will be free, eventually. But they're using ambiguous language to increase demand and convince people who are on the fence to buy it.
I personally bought it as the "deal" (400 points), knowing that it will probably be free. But $5 is what I consider the right price, so I wanted to let MS know that.
