'Unusual' World at War DLC scheduled for early '09
Call of Duty: World at War fans have a reason to be excited for New Years, because Activision has some "unusual" downloadable content in the works and has plans to release 2-3 DLC packs during World at War's lifespan.Talking with MTV Multiplayer, WaW executive producer Daniel Suarez mentioned that their upcoming DLC is "not going to be what we've done traditionally" and will exceed what CoD4 offered in terms of new content. No specific release plans were given and the unusual DLC will remain a mystery. New maps, new modes, new weapons, more single player? We're not sure, but "unusual" DLC is much more exciting than "traditional" DLC.

I will be REALLY PISSED if Call of Duty 4 never releases any more maps. How could they be so stupid???? The last maps made 10 MILLION DOLLARS. Unless TreyArch and Microsoft paid them NOT to make DLC (so they wouldn't interfere with COD5's release) I don't see why Infinity Ward wouldn't be cashing in on this opportunity. Maybe TreyArch has promised to also stop releasing DLC when the next Infinity Ward iteration of COD comes around.
DBoyFlex @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:30PM
I wanted more maps too, but no such luck. I doubt more will come out now. Oh well. Here's to waiting for CoD 6.
offday @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:36PM
I agree. I can't get into WaW. It's just not fun like COD4 was.
Glenn @ Dec 2nd 2008 4:04PM
And that's exactly why I just downloaded the MP beta, and decided the game just felt diffrent, therefore i'm also waiting for the big nr6 also, it's better to just have 1 CoD ever 2 year, instead of one each year, the series will eventually get boring if you buy it each year, and CoD WaW is more of the same old CoD Anyways... (of which I have already more then enough games)
Big Filth @ Dec 2nd 2008 5:18PM
if they kept releasing more maps it would stop people from buying COD WAW. Its called business.
Thats why WAW is basically a map pack. Why release a map pack for 10 bucks when they can have you buy WAW for 60?? Duuuhhhh..
You young kids have such a lack of business sense its scary some times.
Matt @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:30PM
Exactly, Big Filth. There is no mystery here people. You also have to understand that Activision owns Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and the rights to the Call of Duty franchise. They are pulling all the strings. It's all part of the master plan.
imbecile pete @ Dec 2nd 2008 2:41PM
cool. hope its extra guns :)
joeybeast @ Dec 2nd 2008 2:48PM
I'm gonna say more maps for the nazi zombie mode.
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:03PM
Hope so :D
Bushman311 @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:34PM
I'm crossing my fingers
CoD: Bugs at War @ Dec 2nd 2008 2:54PM
How about fixing the outstanding issues and bugs in the game first?
Like how some weapons dont seem to have any effect at certain times and how lag makes the game totally unplayable.
Any chance of an ingame host migration too?
ScottishPrik @ Dec 2nd 2008 4:00PM
Those are your problems not teyarch's. Treyarch aren't responsible for your shit connection and lack of understanding.
Tim Marman @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:16PM
The "under the map" glitches are just absolutely ridiculous and ruin the game. There are now at least a third of the maps you can get under.
They fixed the Roundhouse glitch in the MP beta pretty early on - I can only hope they address these soon.
That said, I kind of think Treyarch has always been better about releasing content and updates than IW. IW does a better initial job, but they are SOOO slow to push out updates and new content.
I mean, we're still waiting for new modes that were promised in JUNE! And that didn't even require a patch or update - it was amode that is already possible. We even clamored for public unranked playlists, so people could run these games themselves but no luck.
activision suck ass @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:57PM
Treyarach are responsible for releasing a shit game though...
jonecat @ Dec 2nd 2008 2:56PM
When are they going to have an update that tones down the MP40 from its SMG/Sniper status to normal SMG.
CmpsdNoMore @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:06PM
I agree
ANTHOLOGY @ Dec 2nd 2008 2:59PM
I hope its Call of Duty 4 maps.
halo 3 sucks. @ Dec 2nd 2008 5:55PM
Pretty unusual.
the tif @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:10PM
They should be careful - building up hype around your product is a dangerous game - especially if it ends up falling short of expectations. But a Lancer in WaW would be pretty hilarious. CHAINSAW DUEL!!
Mr Cool @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:18PM
fail.
Bonnie @ Dec 2nd 2008 3:47PM
They need to fix the damn invincibility the second after you put someone in second chance. I mean I shot a guy point blank with a double barreled sawed-off shotgun and put two shells into his chest and he did not die and on the way down I also knifed him (cause I was outta shells) and saw a big streak of red blood go across my screen like I sliced open a fucking artery in his neck and he just sits on his ass pulls out a magnum and pops me then I don't even get a kill / an assist. Bullshit I say they need to make second chance like when you're downed in Gears2, like have the screen all blurry like Tabun Gas just 10x more intense. Like in SP when someones crawling away after you've hit them. Oh and the spawns...I won't get into it but this game is full of flaws! Activision seriously needs to grow a brain, bite the bullet and let Infinity Ward to every single iteration from now on. Treyarch=+1 for effort -10 for straight shit game.
Doug @ Dec 2nd 2008 4:20PM
I don't know what's worse, the infinity ward fanboys or the GOW fanboys. Pointing out flaws is one thing, but calling this a "straight shit game" is ludicrous.
With all due respect, this game will never be GOW, and thank goodness for that.
On topic: I look forward to the DLC--hoping for a small "shipment" type map :)
Russ Tundra @ Dec 2nd 2008 4:26PM
I have a buddy that lives out in LA and met some of the dev. guys on launch day. They said that they are going to release new vehicles such as jeeps and shit like that. I wouldn't be surprised if they expanded it to 12 people per team. 24 total.
Tim Marman @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:18PM
You have to expect new vehicles at some point. There are flame tanks in SP, COD3 had jeeps and bikes, etc.
Frankly, I was surprised that the MP started with only tanks. I personally hope they release that part as free DLC/required update so they can have them on existing maps instead of just on newly released maps.
Ghostbuddy @ Dec 2nd 2008 4:52PM

You know I could, at length, explain why thats non sense. Instead im just going to say, NO.
andylee92 @ Dec 2nd 2008 5:01PM
boo ya! Treyarch is a great del. team and they always rock with DLC. COD4 sucked because they never offered more than just one DLC, slackers.
Wayne @ Dec 2nd 2008 10:38PM
Only 2-3 packs that is what Call of Duty 4 had and I remember reading somewhere that they said they were going to have a lot more DLC than Call of Duty 4.
Wayne @ Dec 2nd 2008 10:42PM
Ok sorry Call of Duty only had one DLC but still only 2-3.
Wayne @ Dec 2nd 2008 10:43PM

Steve @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:54AM
How about split-screen live???
... I can dream.
JeSuZ Cicle @ Dec 3rd 2008 5:54PM
Yes you can dream but I shall share your dream with you, Me and my Fiance love to play Halo and sometimes Gears together, but alas no Call of doody... :(
Matt McDaniel @ Jan 14th 2009 3:53PM
Fix the map glitches before DLC. The last thing I want is a pack of more exploitable maps.
Tim @ Jan 27th 2009 1:53PM
I enjoy World at War more than Modern Warfare...
