Ski and snow Avatar items now available [update]

Update: Microsoft just released the new Avatar Winter apparel which is now available via the Avatar customizer. Original blog listed below.

As promised, it looks like new Avatar clothing will be making its way to the Avatar customizer in the near future as an ad on the Xbox 360 dashboard's "Spotlight" channel advertises fresh duds.

The Spotlight ad (photo above) promotes new ski and snowboard apparel stating that the content is "available now", though the items aren't available quite yet. Once clicked, the ad brings you to the Avatar customizer where, sadly, no new snowy clothes are to be found. Keep your eyes peeled though, we expect the new (and free) winter apparel to go live rather soon.

damnit, i just unplugged my 360 last night to play the new Tomb Raider on the big screen.. maybe ill wait till i beat the game to download the new stuff..

I'm tired of hearing about new Avatar items coming... just release them already.

Anyone figure out how to get rid of the Spotlight channel? I hate that my 360 starts up to a SPAM folder.

its easy. after you turn on the 360 and the NXE loads you should see the spotlight channel. after that, press up.

seriously, it takes about 1 second, i dont understand the big deal.. the only area that isnt covered in ads is the my xbox channel and theyre only a couple clicks away there too

I agree with both of you. Yes, I wish we could choose where to boot up to, but at the same time, at least they put the my xbox channel right next to it (spotlight).

I got in about 5 days early and they did not have that one there. Apparently they removed a bunch of clothing about a week prior to launch (hence I did not see it) and this is likely the 'new' clothing that is releasing, or at least some of it.

I think Microsoft should attach new items for avatars with the achievements. You unlock new item by playing games and unlocking achievements.

I think that's a great idea. It would be an appropriate foil to PS Home's "Trophy Room".

I do like the avatars and I'm sure they will use them accordingly when the Primetime Channel opens up. But I am very disappointed in the way they are releasing the clothes. We waited 2 weeks to get 4 articles of clothing for each gender? Half of my friend's list already have them all on. I was expecting like 20 pieces atleast so we do not look all the same for an another 2 weeks. Or just give us the free stuff and open up the micro transactions for new clothes already!

im disappointed with the 'new' items: only 4 per gender, no new hair styles, shirts, pants or sunglasses. i shouldve know better

96 items in 6 months sounds great but it feels like they gimped the launch and plan on cashing in with the avatar store.

let the inmates run the prison, and give us cake!
