Microsoft ready to 'break the bank' at E3 2009

Talking to Major Nelson in his latest podcast, Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer mentioned that Microsoft's plan for next year's E3 will be to discuss game's that are "further out in the future" which he admits may just "break the bank."
"We're looking at some of the plans for the future and things that we might want to tease, and it's very exciting because there's a lot of stuff on the way," said Spencer, making it quite clear that Microsoft will not be holding back on their E3 reveals. And now, after we think about it, we're not sure what bank breaking announcements Microsoft will have in June of 2009. That said, we never doubt Microsoft's ability to impress.

Isn't it time they came up with a new shooter franchise to go alongside halo and gears?
LegendaryRedass @ Dec 8th 2008 12:53PM
I hope if they haven't by then, announce Mass Effect 2 and some already long overdue dlc for Mass Effect 1

I, for one, expected there to be no way to contend with last year after the Halo shenanigans and whatnot, but Microsoft had some huge releases this year. I can't even keep up!
Here's to another year of great games!

Mass Effect 2, perhaps?
UK31337 @ Dec 8th 2008 12:33PM
I predict a flood of trailers and screenshots from H3:ODST, mostly.
Then more highly expected sequels like Forza 3, GoW2 DLC, Bioshock 2, plus loads of absolutely fantastic US-only service enhancements that will take three years to even reach Canada. If there's one thing that MS do badly it's catering to non-US markets, Sony don't have that problem and they don't even put Japan above everyone else.
Rant over, I hope they finally give us something concrete about Alan Wake. Maybe something on Prey 2 wouldn't go amiss.

Well, think of it from a business prospective;
they've got many many many many many more people in the US with Xbox 360's than anywhere else. They thrive on this market, and would do anything to appease it, even at the slighting of other markets.
Though with Canada, you would think the transference of their leading tactics would hold. However, for whatever reason, they don't. I mean, Canadian protocols and US protocols aren't all that much different...

I thought Mass Effect (1 and 2) eventually making its way over to PS3 was an old rumor. I don't know what the likely-hood of that rumor was when it sprouted but if anyone knows anything, chime in.
Alex @ Dec 8th 2008 1:22PM
I hope the 360 gets Bioshock 2 before the PS3. Like, a whole year before.
Dirty @ Dec 8th 2008 1:25PM
I would think that microsoft would be letting out a few game announcements to help push holiday boxes. I feel like the coming year is a bit of a blank slate in my head. Although I am confident that 360 will have better games than the ps3 and in more quantity. It will be very competitive with GOW3 and Uncharted 2. Both of which are on my buy list.
Dirtgoblin @ Dec 8th 2008 1:31PM
mass effect 2 would be awesome! hopefully splinter cell releases as well as forza 3 and alan wake... also, don't forget that the next call of duty is going to be back in the hands of infinity ward.
nmedb @ Dec 8th 2008 2:13PM
I think it will be a new console the life span on the 360 is about over with.
