Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage DLC unveiled

Bethesda just unzipped their lips regarding new Fallout 3 downloadable content, announcing a new Operation Anchorage expansion that's going to let players relive the liberation of Anchorage while expanding the Fallout 3 experience by 4-5 hours.
The 800 Microsoft point Operation Anchorage expansion (set for release in January) will let players fight the Chinese red army and liberate Anchorage via an in-game simulator. The simulation will also introduce new weapons, armor, a new "Covert Ops" perk and will add additional achievements. Jump over to IGN to get all the Operation Anchorage deets and preview the second (The Pitt) and third (Broken Steel) DLC releases. We can already hear the Fallout 3 loyalists' celebrations echo through the streets.
[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

Tann @ Dec 11th 2008 12:04PM
apparently we are getting more on the 3rd dlc pack!:D

If it's NMA you're talking about when it comes to loyalists its more like screams of terror. Those guys HATE the Fallout games, yet are somehow it's number one fans.

Create a patch that lets you continue from the story mode.
Yuccadude @ Dec 11th 2008 2:19AM
Ah, here it is, from the article, "Based on a lot of feedback, we're going to allow the player to continue on after the main quest ends in the Broken Steel DLC. While a lot of details still have to be sorted, this will allow the player to continue on and play in the Wasteland enjoying the side and freeform quests, along with any new downloadable content we have planned in the future."

It seems I should have RTFA. :D
prence @ Dec 11th 2008 9:50AM
Thank christ.
Yuccadude @ Dec 11th 2008 2:15AM
Titup, the are doing that, not sure when they are releasing it though.
Also, I am working on my third playthrough in order to get the neutral achievements and I think this will add nicely to my first character's repetoire. Can't wait to wipe the red Chinese scum out of the frozen hinterlands...

Communists are bastards no offense to anyone. They killed my great grandpa just because he had education and a college dgree
Dan @ Jan 8th 2009 4:44PM
Ryan W. your an idiot.
Even if you were being serious.
There is no such thing as communism in the world, its all fascism considering no "commuinist" country has equality, all there leaders are power hungry which is why they aren't communist.
My only concern is...this game is EASY on level 20...imagine level 30?
Tann @ Dec 11th 2008 2:29AM
oh man i can't wait:D!
BenD the Truth @ Dec 11th 2008 9:41AM
Anchorage in the house! Why the hell would someone want to liberate this place, it's horrible! hahaha
Carbonize @ Dec 11th 2008 3:58AM
I would like to see some new freeform quests added to the wastelands. I would really like a quest to find some new music for Three Dog because even he must be getting fed up of hearing the same few tracks over and over ;)

I coudn't give two shits right now about DLC; What I want from Bethesda is a patch that will allow me to actually play the game without any damn hassless
Donald @ Dec 11th 2008 5:57AM
I just want DLC that is as big as some of the stuff they did on Oblivion. I am really surprised at the amount of DLC that there will be in the next few months, but you know they are planning something that will warrant a GOTY re-release.

I was in love with Fallout 3 .. i spent maybe to many hours collecting everything and looking in every nook and crevice ... but then i ran into Level 20 .. what the Bleep is the idea that you can max out at level 20 .. it really ruined the game for me ... not to mention the fact i choose the "explorer " perk which shows plaything on the map to you ... i know i could go back before i leveled up and not choose it but its to late now ... when you get to level 20 Do not choose the explorer perk if you enjoy exploring and finding stuff on your own .. ok done venting now
Jon @ Dec 11th 2008 9:18AM
Plaything ? i meant everything
baby sea tuna @ Dec 11th 2008 11:05AM
Do you at least get the "One Man Scouting Party" ACH when you picked that perk?
I do know how you feel though. I ended up using the one perk where you skip a level after about 30 hours, and felt like I wasted an opportunity to gain that level honestly.
Jon @ Dec 11th 2008 12:03PM
No you don't because they show up on the map, but you haven't "Found" them .. so you cant quick travel to them until you walk there .. so you dont get the achievement points until you walk to 100 of them as well
gamesblow @ Dec 11th 2008 10:30AM
Anchorage?? Are they going to have Sarah Palin's inbred descendents as NPCs running around with moose rifles?
pete @ Dec 11th 2008 4:00PM
no, probly just a bunch of inbred obama-nuts who come from the second-least-american state of the union who can't decide what race they are and yet still look and act black... fuckin politics, next time leave your stupid-ass remarks at home
JeffyWeffyBeffy @ Dec 11th 2008 11:15AM
Wow, this sounds great, so exciting !! This is MY game of the year.
Xerone @ Dec 11th 2008 12:11PM
I cannot wait for The Pitt. I can't! I hope it looks just like in real life (except... destroyed and stuff...). I'll find all the landmarks! :D
They better not destroy the Clemente bridge though, that is my favorite one!
Clark Parker @ Dec 11th 2008 3:40PM
The Pitt also seems the most appealing to me as well... And it sounds, from what they have said, that it will still be largely intact. on the IGN page the guy mentions that Pittsburg was not hit by a direct blast and most of what we will see is decay from centuries of fallout. They did hint that the water was still highly radioactive and will have had an effect on the life there... So lots of mutants and ghouls for everyone.
Too bad Operation: Anchorage takes place before the bombs drop... I would love to take down and irradiated Moose.
All three of these are going to be awesome... Nobody does DLC like Bethesda.
StubbiestPie @ Dec 21st 2008 10:29PM
why the hell im I fightin chinese in a simulation!?!?!? I just want more levels, perks, and DLC's like the pittsburgh DLC!!!!!
MarcusPinson @ Jan 11th 2009 7:37AM
Is There going to be a X-Box 360 or ps3 version because if not alot of those fallout 3 loyalists you wer just talking about are going to be more than a little angry
James @ Jan 16th 2009 3:35PM
DLC will only be available on pc and xbox, microsoft paid bethesda a lot of cash to never release expansions on the ps3.
I'm not a ps3 owner but this type of thing can be only be bad news for all gamers.
