Rumor: Guitar Hero: Metallica gets 'expert plus' difficulty, dual kick pedals

The internets are abuzz with rumor word coming from the ScoreHero forums regarding Guitar Hero: Metallica (a game that still isn't officially announced), what unique features it'll offer and a potential listing of the game's tracks.
Supposedly featured in the latest issue of Game Informer are concrete GH: Metallica details, including the reveal of a new "expert plus" drum mode that'll test any drummer's skills with dual kick pedals that'll work with the World Tour drum kit. Point your browser towards the break for a still incomplete and unconfirmed list of rumored GH: Metallica tracks.

Dante Sparda @ Dec 13th 2008 1:05PM
It is no rumor, everything was confirmed in the new issue of Game Informer.
Brian @ Dec 13th 2008 1:09PM
That's a pretty solid track list, but I would like to see Fade To Black and Welcome Home (Sanitarium) added to the Metallica tracks, or in place of anything off Load and Re-Load.
Alex @ Dec 13th 2008 7:42PM
Unforgiven II, Battery and Fade to Black have GOT to be on.
Anything off of St Anger or Death Magnetic will need to be completed on mute, IMO.
LuckyEMS @ Dec 13th 2008 1:09PM
if you can 100% BYOB without double pedal i respect you
Zac LaCombe @ Dec 13th 2008 1:13PM
Does this fix the long standing issue of GH: World Tour being terrible with its drums being even worse?
OmegaRed @ Dec 13th 2008 1:23PM
Um, why is this a rumor?
I have the magazine in front of me.
Ghen @ Dec 13th 2008 2:01PM
because they could be wrong.
EgoCheck616 @ Dec 13th 2008 1:40PM
Who cares?
It's Metallica.. Come on
kcasey @ Dec 14th 2008 5:50AM

Mazrael @ Dec 13th 2008 1:49PM
Metallica needs a double kick.. eh.. can't be right..
Rock Band 2's turn now.. get some Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Hate Eternal.. even something slow like Slipknot (old stuff), with the premium Ion kit & double kick and it's all good
Nude Love @ Dec 13th 2008 10:24PM
Metallica uses a massive amount of Double kick, and all of those bands suck.
The end.

I know who I feel has the better double kick, even http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=UHorgSgkKrE has a better double kick than Metallica.
as wasn't that the point of my comment.. I've never considered Metallica to be a double kick band.. is this there new thing to keep in with the kids.. I haven't bothered with the new album, as it seems to be lacking something that they had 'back in the day'.. I personally like old M, in their thrashier days.. then although I guess they would make good entry level tracks for using the double kick, hopefully making further use of this down the line with more intensive tracks..
each to their own, we all like different things, I have various music like folk, death, black, doom, grind.. I even got an old Testament album kicking around, I don't mind 80's music like Duran Duran as I grew up on it..

I'm still waiting for any of the GH games to have something I want that RB doesn't have. I can barely managed half of the songs in RB on hard, so an "expert plus" mode is of no value to me.
Frankly, if you can play drums on "expert plus", you may as well start your band and play for real.
Matt @ Dec 13th 2008 4:11PM
I'm liking the track list some fantastic songs in there, there's still a couple more I'd hope will be added.

One: not a huge Metallica fan. At least not recent releases.
Two: like Lars is really THAT great a drummer. I mean, come on, where's Guitar Hero: Rush (or Tool) with 20-head drum sets that you can sit in the middle of with cymbals everywhere and a gong. Why the special treatment here?
Three: I'd seriously buy this game if it had Kyuss' 'Demon Cleaner.' Fuck. yes.
Alex @ Dec 13th 2008 7:47PM
Yeah, I know. If there was a GH: SOAD I would presume there would be better drums, or a GH: Blue Man Group....
Alas, I await Guitar Hero: Buckethead, On that the difficulty would start on Expert and go up to 'Guitar Rapist' or something.
Tann @ Dec 13th 2008 6:25PM
This is going to be insane.
Matthew Taylor @ Dec 13th 2008 8:17PM
i can confirm this. i got the GI issue with that yesterday. everything is true.
blackarmy @ Dec 13th 2008 11:03PM
Please let it have Whiskey In the Jar. Don't know why but i do's love that song. And yes I know its a cover.
Jim @ Dec 13th 2008 11:08PM
Correction:WherEVER I May Roam...sorry I just had to show my Metalli fandom...anyway I will love the game if it has Trapped Under Ice !!!
Zeus.:God @ Dec 14th 2008 12:08AM
Dimmu Borgir's "The Chosen Legacy" would destroy those double kick pedals.
kcasey @ Dec 14th 2008 5:47AM
i already have two kick pedals. ea accidentally sent me one instead of a guitar, so i just bought a headphone splitter, stuck it in the rockband drums, and put each pedal in one of the jacks. it works perfectally for rockband, rockband 2, and guitar hero 4.
Mazrael @ Dec 14th 2008 1:52PM
genius..!
you thing this would work on the RB Ion kit?
britboyj @ Dec 14th 2008 7:34PM
Will it also include a "kill Napster and make people hate you" mode?
Microx @ Dec 14th 2008 3:51PM
Sounds to me like this expert plus will get wayyyy overcharted like GH3
Matt @ Dec 14th 2008 5:29PM
IMO, this game would get pretty boring. At some point, so many Metallica songs sound the same. Playing the Rock Band 'Metallica Song Pack' I get bored with their songs, and that is only like three of them.
Faaip de Oiad @ Dec 15th 2008 8:36AM
Its funny that they would add a special drumming difficulty for one of the worst and most overrated drummers in rock music?
eP @ Dec 15th 2008 1:31PM
Played RB2 and GH:WT and RB2 is leaps and bounds above.
Similar to what Microx said, all the GH games seem over-charted to me (all instruments).
As a percussionist I think it's actually harder to play some of the GH tracks on Expert in my living room than it would be on the acoustic kit in my basement!

I am kind of disappointed with the whole xbox 360 experience. I bought my son the world tour and a day later my dog chews through the line that goes from the drum set to the kick box. When I tried to repair it the wires were so small that they are impossible to repair. When I went searching for a kick box I couldn't find one. Can anyone refer me to someone that will sell me a kick box without breaking my bank and without having to buy the whole drum set.

Metallica just launched their official Canadian merch store and I just bought some awesome new shirts. I saw them when they played in Toronto in December and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. You can check out the new store here: https://killthe8.com/merchcdn/pages/8085/METALLICA.htm
