Mark Hamill's Joker confirmed in Batman: Arkham Asylum
If you're reading this blog, chances are you've spent at least a few afternoons taking in Batman: The Animated Series. If so, you probably have some fond memories of Mark Hamill's portrayal of the caped crusader's nemesis, the Joker. Rejoice, Joker fans, as Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive have confirmed to Joystiq that Hamill will be reprising his role as the Joker in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum. Also joining the voice cast will be Kevin Conroy, who has voiced Batman in just about every Batman cartoon under the sun.
Now let's just hope the rest of the game is up to snuff.

At what price, Admiral?
myabsolution @ Dec 17th 2008 5:48PM
with Harrison Ford as Robin.
And Carrie Fisher as the Penguin.
Big Ed @ Dec 17th 2008 6:36PM
No.
Mark Hamill is known for being a voice actor, not just known for being in Star Wars.
myabsolution @ Dec 17th 2008 7:26PM
ugh...
I'm just being sarcastic, of course I know Hamill does voice acting. Hell he even played that mentally challenged villain in the Flash 2 movie.

This game has just become EPIC.
Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil? The voice acting is already going to be excellent.

Haven't we known this since the game was announced in Game Informer?
They also said Paul Dini (writer of Batman: TAS and Detective Comics) is writing the story.
NitroFrost @ Dec 17th 2008 7:07PM

Did you say you hoped this game would be about snuff? That would be a Dark Knight... or was I reading that wrong?

Until The Dark Knight, he was the best Joker.
CaramelZappa @ Dec 18th 2008 3:44AM
Here's how I see it, Mark Hamill is still the best joker by a longshot.
Don't get me wrong the Joker in the Dark Knight was a really compelling character and the entire movie was spectacular. But to me, the Joker in the dark knight was a really convincing psycho character. Who called himself the joker, and wore a purple suit. Those are where the similarities between what I know to be the joker and The Dark Knights portrail of the joker end.
The joker relied on gags, toy weapons, and the like. He had to make a pun of some sort with each of his crimes. He played games with batman. He was so much more than a psychopath.
Heith's character does none of these things. He's a psycho who uses knives because they're up close and personal, his crimes are giant social experiments, not gags. He is a completely different character in the same shell.
Don't get me wrong the Dark Knight is a specatular movie, and the Joker in it is a spectacular character, but he is NOT the Joker as defined by the comics, the other batman films, or Batman TAS.
And I for one am pretty psyched that Hamill's Joker will be in the new batman game.

JayFight @ Dec 17th 2008 10:02PM
how about we call him the best joker voice actor then (the batman's joker was alright buuuuttt not quite good enough) plus i think jack Nicholson might hunt you down (or at least his rabid fans yikes) at least Nicholson still has best live action joker still living :( ooohh i made myself sad :~O look a nose :) lol

@ JayFight
I'd actually have to say that Caesar Romero's Joker was pretty damn awesome.

Mark Hamill's done more stuff than just Star Wars and voice-acting. He was in that one movie...you know that one about the war...The Big Red One. But besides that, basically Star Wars and voice acting, like COD 2 and Metalocalypse.
Let's hope this game is good. I think we deserve a good Batman game!

"who has voiced Batman in just about every Batman cartoon under the sun"
Well, except for Batman: Brave and the Bold, which is currently being voiced by Deidrich Bader (Oswald from The Drew Carey Show and Lawrence in Office Space)

Always liked the Joker in the series, and this will help me think about maybe picking up the game.
