Rock Band Weekly: Rock in the cheer with holiday themed DLC
According to Andy Williams, it's the most wonderful time of the year. Well Andy, you probably didn't have to deal with insane parking lot situations at shopping malls, stampeding consumers looking for for a deal and GameStop employees asking us if we want to pre-order that copy of Bratz Ponyz for the Nintendo DS we were looking for. Why would we order that? Clearly it's a gift idea and not a Game of the Year candidate we need to investigate, you up selling drone!*Whoa. Sorry. We get a little hot under the collar shopping for presents. Anyway, Harmonix has announced a special holiday song pack for Rock Band. Releasing on December 23, 2008, are three songs to get you in the spirit of the season and shy away from the bitterness we unfortunately displayed earlier in this post.
- Barenaked Ladies - "Hanukkah Blessings"
- Billy Squier - "Christmas is the Time To Say I Love You"
- The Pretenders - "Blue Christmas"
*Note: We're just kidding GameStop employees. You know we love you! We know you're just doing your job so you don't get fired. This is what we call, "humor with dramatic effect." Also, we love you Andy Williams and Bratz Ponyz is not a game of the year contender, it was released in 2007.

I think I will pass. Where is my Stevie Ray Vaughn?
Matt @ Dec 19th 2008 9:11AM
I was thinkin more along the line of The Killers "Don't Shoot Me Santa". That song always gets me in the festive 'non-religion specific celebration of the winter solstice holiday' mood.

Happy Winter Solstice!
Love that!
Can't be bothered downloading Winter Solstice music. You hear it everywhere and at home during this season i may play it once or twice during that day but after that wouldnt. If it is was free I would download the tracks but not for the usual price of 80 or 160 mspoints.
CyberKnight @ Dec 19th 2008 11:34AM
Some Weird Al Yankovic would work well here, too. "Christmas at Ground Zero" or "The Night Santa Went Crazy" would get my points in a heartbeat.

We know you wasn't kidding Matos you meant it .LoL
Deezul @ Dec 19th 2008 9:14AM
This is ROCK Band. Not HOLIDAY Band. Country haters, please chime in as well, or get your Hypocrite caps out...
Now if Hall & Oates "Jingle Bell ROCK" was included, it would be acceptable.
matty @ Dec 21st 2008 9:15PM
if they only had songs from the rock genre we wouldnt have access to over 500 songs. quit whining about the diversity of the DLC... it's not like you're being forced to buy it.
if your post was sarcastic then disregard my comment (though it still stands for all the other whiners)

Three words: Trans Siberian Orchestra
DBoyFlex @ Dec 19th 2008 9:44AM
Bitchin, that would be appropriate and I WOULD buy that up.
Darth Dad @ Dec 19th 2008 9:50AM
That or maybe some Gary Hoey Christmas. Either would be totally awesome.
Mr. Nosuch @ Dec 19th 2008 9:47AM
What, no "Father Christmas" by the Kinks?
Also, will I really want these songs around in my library, finding their way into random songs choices in July?
Deezul @ Dec 19th 2008 9:52AM
Delete them in January, re-download next December.
Thrombo19 @ Dec 19th 2008 9:54AM
Where's your holiday spirit Harm? Throw us some free tunes for xmas for god sake :)
Zathras @ Dec 19th 2008 10:16AM
More music is good - but why so late???
Also BNLs "Hanukkah O Hanukkah" from the same album would be a little more upbeat than "Hanukkah Blessings"
I'd like to see the Ramones "Merry Christmas (I don't want to fight tonight)" and Slade's "Merry Christmas everybody"

Damn you guys and your misleading choice of graphics, I thought You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch was going to be on there!
CyberKnight @ Dec 19th 2008 11:32AM
I almost sprayed water out of my nose when I saw that book picture. :D Nice!

It is funny, but sad at the same time. Because America really is becoming like that.
Deezul @ Dec 19th 2008 1:52PM
Christmas is the ONLY religious holiday recognized by the US federal government. You can thank Charles Dickens for the holiday celebration it has become. Christmas wasn't much of a celebration before his little book. In the 1700s, it was illegal to "celebrate" the birth of Hey-sus.
Sorry 'bout getting off topic. Just saying...
dronesensor @ Dec 19th 2008 10:41PM
dear offday,
stop watching bill o'reilly. i can't leave my house without being bombarded by christmas. not that that's a bad thing, hell, i fucking LOVE christmas and the entire holiday season, i'm just saying... christmas is everywhere, this "war on chtristmas" is a lie to keep stupid people distracted so as to redirect their outrage to pointless bullshit, instead of somewhere that could make a difference.
in conclusion, don't be stupid. get angry & sad about something else, like hunger, or poverty, or the economic crisis, not some bullshit fake "war".
Deck @ Dec 19th 2008 2:11PM
Come on, where's the Jingle Bell Rock?
Adam.. @ Dec 19th 2008 3:51PM
Boo HMX where's the free xmas songs.
Starsmore @ Dec 20th 2008 1:17PM
What, no "Oi to the World" from No Doubt? Why not, we got a trackpack from them last week!
