Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars attacks XBLA in 2009

The upcoming Arcade FPS, developed by Immersion Games, throws players into an arena to do battle with their choice of gunfire and/or telekinetic superpowers. You know, because guns aren't deadly enough these days.
Psychokinetic Wars will offer 30 single-player "challenges," three playable characters and four multiplayer modes (Death Match, Team Death Match, Capture the Flag and Assault) for up to 16 players. Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars should also change its ridiculous name. Cellfactor is plenty, the rest is just marketing research gone bad.

well...I guess I'll say something about the game, which is what this article/announcement is about...
to be honest this game looks like a major pass, from what the article mentioned it doesnt seem like this game is offering anything ground breaking as far as what they said the gameplay will be about (FPS with Psychokinetic powers)...
further more you know it will be crap if their not even going to offer it at retail... will they ?
hellvector @ Dec 21st 2008 3:15PM
Since when does making it an XBLA title mean it's going to be crap? I agree that a lot of crap games come out on the XBLA, but plenty of good games have popped up without having a retail release.

Well, hellvector I guess you have a point, it may be to early to call it crap for this one,
but I believe that if the developer had faith in this title it would be on store shelves and not just DLC, something smells fishy about this game to me and that fishy smell is usually the sign of a bad game,
and hey look at the GTA 4 DLC, that was just suppose to be DLC, but its being offered at retail by gamestop, to try and capitalize on the success the game already has
Cell Factor is a brand new IP, is it not ? why are the developers cutting it so short at DLC ? hopefully they will tell us why.

As far as I recall, this originated as a pretty sweet tech demo for AGEIA PhysX. Seems like far less could go wrong in bringing it to XBLA/PSN than a $60 DVD.

Glad I'm not the only person who remembers the tech demo..

will be a good draw for the ole shadowrun crew...

I guess if Sony can ninja copy+paste the spiderman font, ubisoft thought they could 1 up them by taking the Batman Forever font.
psypunk @ Dec 21st 2008 4:10PM
This is the spiritual successor to Shadowrun! I hope.....
AnthonyGalindoX @ Dec 21st 2008 4:20PM
Xav, I think it says more about you because you actually recognize the font from Batman Forever than it does the game.
Xav de Matos @ Dec 21st 2008 6:24PM
Sad but true.

Wasn't this supposed to come out on the PC a long time ago? I remember seeing the first videos of this game, and I was blown away at the time, but this game seemed to go in the dark after a few months. Oh well...here it is again.
Young_Jey @ Dec 22nd 2008 3:00PM
wow! this game looks amazing(graphically), and its a arcade title? I wonder how big the file will be and how much it'll cost. by the way JCP i dont remember the last time i saw a XBLA or PSN(arcade) game on retail shelves, such as Castle Crashers and WipEout HD.
Rezeyu @ Dec 22nd 2008 11:13PM
This game is actually really fun.
It's set up like a meultiplayer tech demo.. which is pretty much what it was. You can probably still get the demo off some of the older hosting sites, but you need a Physics card to play it.
