CMT: Roy Orbison is ready to rock Rock band

According to CMT (an all country, all the time station owned by MTV), country singer Roy Orbison will be bringing more country music to the Rock Band DLC library. CMT announced Orbison's Rock Band DLC plans on their latest episode of Top 20 Countdown, revealing that a "Roy Orbison Pack" (presumably, three songs) will be releasing in the future.
Sounds like hardcore rock rockers will have to learn to embrace their new country DLC Gods, because country tracks are here to stay.

He's far more rock than country. I'd try a few of them out.
damnreds @ Dec 23rd 2008 6:03PM

Dirk Dorkelson @ Dec 24th 2008 6:12AM
Yeah, I never thought of him as country, either.

Good news. Maybe I'll finally get my dad to play at our next family gathering. Hehe, probably not.

Ummmm....yeah....since when is Roy Orbison considered country music?
Jezreel @ Dec 24th 2008 12:20AM
I know that the article is calling Orbison a country singer because the DLC announcement came from CMT, but I'd call him a rocker first and foremost. He may have had rockabilly roots but but this is actually the first time I've ever heard anyone label him a country singer.
Ghoti @ Dec 24th 2008 1:11AM
Roy Orbison ≠ country singer
Roy Orbison rocks!
Will @ Dec 24th 2008 1:17AM
I somehow doubt that Roy will be bringing anything to Rock Band... given that he's dead.
His label may, though...
Flomotion @ Dec 24th 2008 9:07AM
Jorge,
you sir, are an idiot.
SeishiZero @ Dec 24th 2008 2:33AM
Hard to believe he passed away more than 20 years ago. He passed away way too young.
Anon @ Dec 24th 2008 4:02AM
It's blasphemous but I'll say it... country is the new rock. When you look at bands like Big and Rich or whoever and compare the to Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, Nickelback, or f'ing Hinder it's pretty easy to see who the rock legacy is being carried on by. And who else besides CMT would make a music announcement? MTV is all fake dramas and occasionally a bit of rap now and then.
Rock is dead.
Orbison is awesome, and definitely rocks.
Marky Mark @ Dec 24th 2008 5:37AM
Rock is dead?
Have you heard of The Strokes, Muse and other upcoming rock talent.
The only thing that is dead is your thinking, my friend.
Anon @ Dec 24th 2008 10:11AM
@Marky Mark...
Muse, really? Swear to God I pulled them up on YouTube and the first song I found (displayed proudly on their official YouTube page) was Starlight. Falsetto singing over piano. Rockin'!
If rock lives and that's what it has come to, then kill it with fire, now!
/The Stokes are great though. I like rock and am not a big country fan - but the good time rock attitude has definitely gone. Most acts these days seem like a bad parody of the old grunge acts, all whiny and wimpy and no fun at all.
Sofun @ Dec 24th 2008 12:10PM
I hope one of them is Candy Colored Clown.
Adam @ Jan 23rd 2009 4:28PM
I would consider Roy to be more Rock than Country, but hey...we all have our roots. The bottom line is that this freakin ROCKS and Roy Orbison is the man. I bought em all.
