SEGA classics get ESRB rating, to XBLA soon

According to the ESRB ratings website, a foursome of classic SEGA titles will be making their way to the Xbox Live Arcade (presumably) sometime next year.
SEGA's Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star II and comic book inspired Comix Zone are all listed on the ESRB as "Xbox 360" titles, which sorta lends the games to being XBLA releases. Of course, we're huge fans of Sonic 3 and even Comix Zone, but would you be willing to plop down 400 or even 800 Microsoft points on old-school SEGA gaming?

Silly Microsoft, Nintendo doesn't overcharge for these kind of ports with no extra features!
Wait.
Neuromancer @ Dec 26th 2008 11:42AM
Gunstar Heroes is worth 800 points, especially if it had co-op over Live. That was one of the best 16-bit games ever!

Gunstar Heroes is worth 1200 freaking points!!!
However, why would sega release these on the arcade when their Sega Ultimate Collection is coming out?
D dogg @ Dec 26th 2008 11:54AM
No, it's NOT. While I have extremely fond memories of the day I rented that game for my Sega Genesis from the video rental store (dvd's weren't even out), I know that it's JUST A MEMORY and I will not relive that day by playing the game again.
Is it a good game? By 1993's standards, it was one of the best. By today's standards, NO.
One day when you're extremely excited while typing in the " Your comments:" box, stop and thing for a about half a minute or so... maybe you won't write such crazy things as "This game that, by today's standards, looks like crap on HiDef TV's, has no network capabilities, is limited in gameplay, etc. is worth more than Geometry Wars 2 and is equally worth the very well redone for today's standards Street Fighter 2 HD".
C'MON!!!!!

It's a classic game man. Plenty of people play plenty of money for re-released retro games with no added features. Why should a game from 1993 live up to today's standards if it was released 15 years ago?

OMFG Gunstar Heroes? I've had dreams of that coming out on XBLA. Sonic 3 is awsome as well!
Blue @ Dec 26th 2008 12:24PM

Roto13 @ Dec 26th 2008 3:29PM
Three of those games Ultimate Genesis Collection coming out in February, so I'd rather wait for that.
Comix Zone is one of my favourite games ever, though. :P I bought the Virtual Console version and everything.
imbecile pete @ Dec 26th 2008 3:54PM
i already got comix zone and Phantasy star II on my psp...but i might get sonic 3 if its not to expensive :)
lasersanchez @ Dec 26th 2008 5:09PM
Totally worth 400 points if you haven't played them already or plan on buying the upcoming collection. Sonic 3 really should come with Sonic & Knuckles though...
Tony @ Dec 26th 2008 8:50PM
Weren't most of these supposed to be on that Genesis Collection that was hitting the 360 at retail...?
willie @ Dec 26th 2008 8:52PM
COMIX ZONE!! :D :D :D
Tony @ Dec 27th 2008 1:02PM
Gunstar Heroes isn't, but all the other ones are in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection like I thought: http://www.sega.com/games/?g=577
For some reason it seems like they might be getting re-rated for the disc.
Tony @ Dec 27th 2008 1:04PM
Actually, SEGA published Gunstar Heroes and the collection is supposed to have unlockable titles that have yet to be announced. Maybe that's one of them.
The Alex @ Dec 29th 2008 1:33PM
I agree, I think these games are just being rated for the Collection Disc. I also agree that Gunstar Heroes will end up being an unlockable game.
I hope this disc sells well and shows other companies they can make more money selling their classic games as a collection instead of the crap we see them doing on Nintendo's Virtual Console.
Boff @ Dec 29th 2008 5:06AM
Phantasy Star would be the only one worth the points to me.
