A silent guardian, a watchful protector, 'The Dark Knight' on XBLM
If you happen to be one of three people in the world who have yet the watch "The Dark Knight," here is your chance. Microsoft has added the critically acclaimed film to its popular online movie rental service. Available in both high definition and standard definition, at 480MS and 320MS points respectively, The Dark Knight continues the story of The Batman and his quest to rid Gotham City of its seedy criminal underbelly. With the help of District Attorney Harvey Dent and Lieutenant Jim Gordon, The Batman faces his greatest threat of all, a ruthless murderer known only as The Joker. Watch this one, again and again.
Update: Reader DBoyFlex also adds a few Dark Knight treats are available. Check it out for a new regular theme and some video content.

lol @ "I believe in Harvey Dent"
Jechtshot78 @ Dec 27th 2008 11:00AM
I watched this this morning on XBL. But I still think the blu ray looks sharper for sure.
ScottishPrik @ Dec 27th 2008 11:20AM
That might be because blu-rays are 1080p and xblm hd films are 720p. Just a wild guess.
Jake @ Dec 27th 2008 1:50PM
The HD looks rubbish compared to the Blu-ray version on my PS3.
Seems like Microsoft are fooling lots of people that digital downloads are the future. Gimped Future perhaps...
Arnon @ Dec 27th 2008 6:32PM
Yeah right.. it's MS that's trying to say that rofl. Pretty sure it's the world that is saying it. Digital downloads and streaming are much faster and more convenient then driving to the store or blockbuster(or whatever you go to).
StLouisRibs7734 @ Dec 27th 2008 11:07AM
This movie was SO close to Perfect, however, they did not have Morgan Freeman do the "I'm F-ing Matt Damon". FAIL
DBoyFlex @ Dec 27th 2008 11:09AM
There is also a new theme (not premium) and a few bonus features for the film, making of stuff on the marketplace. I found them on the spotlight channel. There was a dark knight box and it linked to the theme and bonus features. Pretty cool, since it was all free.
Sujay @ Dec 27th 2008 2:35PM
Theme doesn't seem to be free.
DBoyFlex @ Dec 27th 2008 2:39PM
Used to be at least. It was when I downloaded it. All of the stuff was.

This is nice. The newer DVD releases from the XBLM are a nice substitute from Netflix streaming or your physical Netflix queue for when you want to watch something that you don't have.
I'll be watching this one for sure, the Dark Knight was so well done.
Zack @ Dec 27th 2008 11:51AM
Goes to show that there isn't some conspiracy between Sony and Microsoft to halt their access to the conglomerate's movie collection, since Dark Knight is distributed by Sony Pictures. ;-)
Not acting like a fanboy or anything -- I just got tired of that whole Netflix controversy.
EnlightenedOne1 @ Dec 27th 2008 12:21PM
The Dark Knight, along with all DC movie titles, are owned and distributed by Warner Brothers. The bad blood between Sony and Microsoft remains, their are no Sony - owned movies or tv shows on marketplace...
Zack @ Dec 27th 2008 1:03PM
My bad. I realized my mistake seconds after I posted it. lol! The feud continues.
Studley @ Dec 27th 2008 11:57AM
"Watch this one, again and again."
...during a 48-hour period, after which you'll have to part with your cash again :(
CABALLOTE @ Dec 27th 2008 12:30PM
Did anyone notice but me the lack of Bonus content on both Bluray and DVD yet XboxLive Marketplace has more than 4?
XBLM FTW! No question.
Khaled @ Dec 27th 2008 12:34PM
I bought this yesterday on PS Store, but I'm surprised XBL just got it? It was on PSN since it came out on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Jcarpio @ Dec 27th 2008 12:47PM
It also just appeared on Cable On-Demand yesterday. So i guess PSN and Itunes got it first.
I got the DVD with digital copy.
Xav de Matos @ Dec 27th 2008 2:19PM
Does that mean the Xbox just lost the console war? :P
+++volume+++ @ Dec 27th 2008 12:57PM
I saw The Dark Knight for the first time last night at a friends house. I couldn't follow it at all (maybe because of my friends?), but it was badass and super action-packed!
shamon @ Dec 27th 2008 1:25PM
anything dark knight is good .
kentawilson @ Dec 27th 2008 2:15PM
Comparing a Blu Ray to a XBLM download is an instant fail. If you want to know why I'd suggest using Google. I wouldn't even bring On Demand in the discussion because that's worse than a XBLM/PSN/Itunes download. The HD version sits at 7 gigs already at 720p so I know if they had a 1080p version it would be "I need to get a new hard drive" bigger.
refinedsugar @ Dec 27th 2008 4:50PM
OMG, why is the downloadable 7 gig HD version lower in quality than the 25+ gig HD version I can buy on disc? lol.
EdgeOne @ Dec 27th 2008 5:49PM
I just watched it on FiOS On Demand today! Now there are only two people left in the world who haven't seen it.
