It is some nice stuff though, like the Pixel Art Hoodie my Avatar is sporting here. For the complete list of Avatar additions, jump in.

Dear Microsoft/XBL people,
Please give us something with a little more customization like a T-shirt where we pick the color; and maybe we can put our profile pic on it? Something anything so my friends and I don't all look like twins except for my blue hair.
Thanks in advance

But if they did that then they won't be able to charge you for slight variations of the same clothing in a few months when new clothes aren't free
yo Naturale @ Dec 31st 2008 9:08PM
The fact that you and your friends' avatars all look like twins... Is that more of a reflection upon Microsoft, or you and your friends?
I keed, I keed... really.
I'm all for and welcome more (gratis) customizations as well.
However, even though I don't have a hundred people on my friends list, and most of my friends took the make-it-look-like-me approach to avatar creation, there aren't many duplicate features present (shoes and sunglasses seems to be the biggest offenders).

It's free, so you don't have the right to complain. Just be glad they give you something.
neomic2004 @ Dec 31st 2008 2:37PM
Serio, that has to be the most ignorant statement I've ever heard. Because it's free, we don't have the right to complain? Umm, you do realize that most of us pay ~$50 a year for Xbox Live, right?
ChupacabraHuntr @ Dec 31st 2008 11:54AM
With your sexy man-bits, too, even you must be into you!
Xav de Matos @ Dec 31st 2008 12:11PM
HAHA. I had to add that link.
Jerry J @ Dec 31st 2008 11:56AM
I realize Microsoft will charge eventually for stuff like this, but it's nice to see free clothes when the avatar thing is starting out, unlike $ony and Home.
flameofdoom666 @ Dec 31st 2008 11:57AM
Where are the black jeans?!
HazyCloud @ Dec 31st 2008 12:00PM
I like my new pixel art hoodie. It rox!
I would like to see my gamerpics as shirts. Couldn't be that hard to paste an image on a blank shirt.
RedSonRising @ Dec 31st 2008 12:16PM
discovered the new items 6am this morning, tried out a few before calling it a night.. pretty thin update this week tho, im not impressed..
IMHO not having seasonal clothing options seems pretty silly: holiday themed gear is a no brainer to me..
instead of party hats or 2009 sunglasses for new years day we got random items and another missed opportunity..
Home users got a santa suit: the holiday theme is nice but i think everyone we didnt even get a hat..
ice~ @ Dec 31st 2008 12:20PM
I want clothes for unlocking achievements like home has :( C'mon microsoft get on that, i mean for christ sake sony did it.......I just want my Viva Pinata Hat and T-Shirt with my Hudson Horstachio shoes ;D
Jake @ Dec 31st 2008 12:42PM
Maybe I don't get it because I am new to XBOX, but maybe someone could tell me what is the point of the avatar?
I got my XBOX360 and it wanted me to choose a little cartoon dude. I couldn't just skip past this, it made my choose a dude and acted like it was important. So, I pick some cartoon guy out of the choices and move on.
He shows up whenever I go to the dashboard, but that's about it. Is the cartoon guy necessary for some games? What is the point of changing his clothes or putting a beard on him or whatever? All I want to do is play my games, not play dress up with a cartoon guy. Is that all that it is good for?
Haohmaru @ Dec 31st 2008 2:32PM
Well, your "cartoon guy" is basically a Mii ripoff and intended to be an overly cute caricature to represent yourself. As Obi-Wan mentioned, there's Kingdom for Keflings, and I believe Bomberman Live has an Avatar option, too.
ObiWanKennoli @ Dec 31st 2008 12:47PM
@jake
As of right now, there are a few select arcade games that support avatar functionality. http://xbox.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-a-kingdom-for-keflings/ Kingdom for Keflings is one that comes to mind. Besides this and possibly other, few, arcade games, there isn't one real purpose to the avatars. They are basically Microsoft's attempt to get into the casual market. I guess cute little dolls like these appeal to soccer moms and little kids. All I can say is enjoy them as is, they are not going anywhere anytime soon.
ingenious @ Dec 31st 2008 1:21PM
As long as we don't have pay for these things, I'm all set.
Did you guys hear about the Zune 30gb's failing today? xD Mine did.
Aero @ Dec 31st 2008 1:26PM
I hope at some point they make free clothes I actually want
megalodon138 @ Dec 31st 2008 1:45PM
Why is it that girls can't even have Converse sneakers? Seriously. I realize this is free but it's a joke the choices we have. Not every girl wants or will wear day glow or chunky anything. I'm not impressed
yo Naturale @ Dec 31st 2008 9:17PM
Women-folk wearing men's athletic shoes?!
The next think you know they'll be wanting to wear pantaloons in public too.
This would all really just be the first step towards people marrying goats.
skin.bintin @ Jan 1st 2009 12:34AM
Props to Flight of the Conchords! The best thing to come out of New Zealand... Well.... Ever!
Makes me feel so proud ;)
Tom @ Dec 31st 2008 8:29PM
Ummm. I don't really want my avatar to be wearing skinny purple jeans. Not very manly clothing options to choose from at all. Give us better things, or the option to upload pics for shirts. I'd love having a Pink Floyd shirt or something more personalized.
pikelet @ Jan 1st 2009 2:34AM
I will continue to revolt until we get our goddamn shutter shades from the preview back. I want to change his smile but I can't until then :(
