Rumor: ChuChu Rocket! to blast the XBLA

Here's an Xbox Live Arcade rumor for you. Lately, our friends over at SEGA have been busy re-registering a few of their older game trademarks, most recently a trademark for the Dreamcast's addictively fun ChuChu Rocket! A game trademark that has yet to expire. So, why the need for a new trademark? Well, Siliconera speculates that SEGA could be prepping ChuChu Rocket! (and other franchises) for release to the Xbox Live Arcade.
Admittedly, the theory is a bit of a stretch, but isn't total crazy talk. SEGA prepping for an XBLA release of ChuChu Rocket! by re-registering the trademark kind of makes sense ... right?

That would be frickin' awesome. I own the DC version, and to have another four player game, with system link and online for the 360 would be cool. I can't go online on the DC version anymore for obvious reasons.

Here's to a New Years Wish (that probably won't happen) that Sega re-releases Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 and 2 on XBLA. They could leave everything as it was before the game shutdown, and add microtransactions. That way it could be free-to-play, but people could buy new items if they wanted, and we'd still get some updates. And make sure the servers are Xbox Live (not Sega) servers, so hackers couldn't wreak the same havoc as before.
As I said, this won't happen. It would be easier to add the original Xbox game to the list of backward compatible games, which won't happen either... /sigh... I just wish I'd liked Phantasy Star Universe.

Very true that PSU wasn't a patch on PSO, I loved that game, the humans, newmans & beasts didn't look individual enough, I might have got more into PSU if it wasn't for using Sega's own servers.. I liked having MAGs.. I too, would like to see a remake of ep1 & 2, maybe a download exclusive, saving on those product keys (and being unable to trade it in)
ALH @ Jan 1st 2009 2:42PM
Seconded- First thing i thought when i saw this headline. I *adore* PSO.
This is good news if it does happen- I got chu chu rocket for GBA- by the time i got my dreamcast it was already dead and buried- so playing it online as it was intended would be a nice treat :3
Jon @ Jan 1st 2009 11:40AM
Miss you dreamcast !
Eric @ Jan 1st 2009 11:53AM
I hope this is true, I would definitely buy it.
ken52787 @ Jan 1st 2009 11:58AM
Isn't it more logical that this would come to the Wii? The game uses a cursor after all...
Either way, I'm excited. We had some intense 4p matches on the dreamcast. I remember that when we hit a cats only, we'd always team up on one person. That person would be screaming for mercy while the rest of us just sing along with the cats only song. Good times.

As someone who has never played the gamed I've got to say I'm baffled and intrigued by your description.
BJ Wanlund @ Jan 1st 2009 12:19PM
WOW! I think that's so awesome! They've really needed to rerelease Chu Chu Rocket on a platform (save for the Dreamcast) that had more than 2 buttons, because CCR has a 4-button nature to how you place the arrows to guide the mice. I absolutely loved Chu Chu Rocket on GBA, but the buttons were an absolute hindrance to controlling the game.
Is a DS game in the pipeline too, maybe? :D

The hilarious thing is 5 minutes ago I was organizing Dreamcast games and picked up CCR. Right before I put it away, I thought, "Man this would rock on XBLA"
I hope it's true!
x7718 @ Jan 1st 2009 1:59PM
I love chu chu! It had a great commercial in Japan complete with an awesome folk song. Man it was great. My friends all said it was too "gay" to play. But chu chu had great gameplay and stylish graphics, so they are the ones who are gay for not playing it! Not that there is anything wrong with being gay, not at all, being gay is just like being Irish!
Mike Schramm @ Jan 1st 2009 2:12PM
This would be amazing on the XBLA.
longhairbilly @ Jan 1st 2009 3:07PM
YES!! I have been asking for this game since Xbox started releasing arcade games!
Online was a blast back in the Dreamcast days.
Jonman @ Jan 1st 2009 3:13PM
That would be awesome. I would totally buy this for the third time (Dreamcast and GB versions).
Fully online would be awesome, just hope they don't screw up the online version like Mr Driller.
tygloalex @ Jan 1st 2009 4:24PM
Very excited for this, I was pretty good back in the dreamcast days. I'd gladly pay 1600 points for it, hopefully can get it for 800 though.
KrAzy Che3To @ Jan 1st 2009 4:49PM
Mmm.. thinking about Dreamcast brings back memories of Jet Grind Radio, Space Channel 5, Crazy Taxi, Seaman (bad memories...) and Sonic Adventure.. If only XBLA included those..
dunnypop @ Jan 1st 2009 6:14PM
own this on DC, and on the gameboy.
this is a perfect XBLA game!
Darkwun @ Jan 1st 2009 7:25PM
Hopefully this will pave the way for Jet Set Radio................and subsequently a purchase from myself
Seanross @ Jan 1st 2009 10:10PM

McWeen @ Jan 2nd 2009 7:34AM
I will pay anything they ask if this happens, preferably with the updates the GBA version added.
Peloquin @ Jan 2nd 2009 10:23AM
NO WAY!!!
HeeHee I remember this game on Dreamcast and I loved it to bits!!
The best part however wasnt the game, it was the lil chatroom that came with it and I met loooaaads of funky people on there in the UK.
Man..if anyone is reading this and remembers me from the old UK CHU chatroom days giz a message, my xbox live gamertag is Predatorial Pel
Id love to hear from ya.
inteller @ Jan 2nd 2009 11:24AM
just go get Sega Superstars Tennis. It is an unlockable on there. Sega must be hard up for cash by recycling games you can already get as unlockables on other games.
navstar @ Jan 2nd 2009 12:17PM
ChuChu was the first console game I ever played online. It was really fun. It made me go out and buy the Dreamcast keyboard so I could chat with other players.
Masa Cheez @ Jan 2nd 2009 12:19PM
WOW, I was going to say that I hated this game and can't imagine why they would re-release a game like this. Much to my surprise, it seems like everyone on this board so far likes the game. I think I'll have to give it one more shot when it comes out. Oh, and yes, Long Live the DREAMCAST!!! :-)
tkAshur @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:19PM
I'm hopin this is a sign of more post genesis sega ports. I mean, when are we gonna get some Saturn and Dreamcast ports already! If the major concern is the mini screen on the DC control...I never found it "necessary". Fun, oh yes indeed, but not necessary. What I need is the wireless freedom of my current consoles. And for saturn? I need Astal, Nights, maybe even a little Fighters megamix.
...oh man that wave of nostalgia hit hard...
Tiggle @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:58PM
AHHHHHH!!!!! Thank you for my late Christmas present!!!!
abisairomero @ Jan 2nd 2009 9:40PM
it amaze me how much we love the dreamcast !
i got mine from day 1 and up to now i have 3 of them. and the funny thing is that it still getting some games with region free by some estudios. wonder if sega can release a portable game console with dreamcast quality games.... well i might be crazy, but love is crazy right?
Dreamcast= religion
murph @ Jan 4th 2009 9:18PM
I checked Google. Apparently I have already requested this game at least 24 times on this very website in the comments.
