Microsoft wants Radiant Silvergun XBLA remake

Chatting with Gamasutra, Treasure CEO Masato Maegawa revealed that Microsoft has been trying to win over their hearts, gifting them chocolates and giving massages all in an effort to bring the Saturn's Radiant Silvergun to the Xbox Live Arcade. Kidding about the chocolates and massages.
Though, Maegawa makes it clear that even though Microsoft wants a remake that he and Treasure have yet to decide if they want to bring Radiant Silvergun love to the XBLA. Why wouldn't they? Well, Maegawa says that it'd take a lot of dev time to make it work on the 360 and he admits that "it's certainly aged in assorted ways, and I'm not sure they're all good." We were under the impression that aged Radiant Silvergun is like a fine wine. It only gets better years down the road.

another scrolling shooter.. yay!!
um, no.
even if this is a great game, XBLA is overloaded with shooty scrolly old school games. ill try the demo IF it ever comes to live arcade..

Sorry, the comment reply to Tony as meant for RedSonRising.

I can get over the genre being oversaturated if the game being released is one of the best shooters ever... particularly given that it's not exactly easy to play now for almost anyone.
RedSonRising @ Jan 5th 2009 3:44PM
i cant go back to the genre at all, i didnt like those games before and i cant get into them now either. i hope the game does come out for xbla tho, im just not gonna get it..
it is true xbla is probably the only place i can go for easy access to retro games like RS or Mega Man 9 but i didnt like most 'retro' games when they were 'new' on the shelf..
mega man 1 thru 1000 included

You're welcome to your opinion. Just don't think that everyone thinks the same way you do. I think one thing old games nailed was the gameplay. The game was fun, even if you are just getting coins and knocking over turtles or a frog crossing the road.
I've spent more time playing Zuma Deluxe at $10 than many $60 games.
Nowdays you sometimes wonder if you paid $60 for a tech demo that looks great, but just really isn't fun. I like the variety on XBLA, in my opinion only the most jaded gamer would complain about that.

Sorry Tony, I meant to reply to RedSunRising.

I've never played it, or heard of it, maybe cause i never had a saturn.
But what's so good about it? Cause it's worth like $200 on the interweb..
Jonman @ Jan 5th 2009 4:05PM
It's generally revered as one of the best shmups of all time. Which is no small accolade.
That said, I fully support getting the big hitters of old consoles onto XBLA, especially the Saturn since I've never played one. I'd particularly like to play this one.
ice~ @ Jan 5th 2009 4:12PM
I'm going to look it up on youtube and see some gameplay. From what I've read, it sounds like a really hardcore game, and I will play anything made by Treasure, because Gunstar Heroes is amazing :D

Having played this thing to death, and still never beat it, I can say that this still shines in my mind as one of the best shooters of all time.
It's right up there with Ikaruga.
However, in terms of Treasure games I would like to see ported, I'm still pining for more Silhouette Mirage and Rakugaki Showtime.
That said, like others have said, I'd settle for just about any Treasure game. Furthermore, I'd also settle for just about any ESP game too.
On an unrelated note - would be nice to see Panzer Dragoon Saga ported to ANYTHING, and the first two Lunars (the Working Design Sega CD titles) would also warm the caucles of my heart.
boomsilent @ Jan 5th 2009 4:59PM
oh snap, guess i better get to selling this, panzer saga, and xmen vs. streetfighter, and marvel super heroes vs. streetfighter(with cartridge!) asap! any takers?
RADIENT SILVERGUN IS INCREDIBLE- PERIOD. waaaaaayyyyy better than ikaruga.
LongshotX @ Jan 6th 2009 12:34AM
