Xbox 360 Fancast 098 -- New Year's Fanmail
Happy New Year, fanboys, and happy first Xbox 360 Fancast of the year 2009. We thought we'd start off the new year by catching up on some fanmail, so that's exactly what we did. Yup, this show is nothing but fanmail. Gasp, as we discover that Canada does in fact have 1-2 flush toilets. Thrill, as we discuss hackneyed gaming conventions. Become confused as we discuss the mysterious pleasure of creating spreadsheets. It's all in this week's episode. Download ... and discover.

Marmite's a lot like Vegemite. If i recall correctly Vegemite is Australian and Marmite is a New Zealand thing.
Shit's narsty!

Re Marmite, the TV adds in the UK are all about you either love it or hate it. They are fun to watch.
andyface @ Jan 6th 2009 7:58AM
Marmite is horrible, their tag line is "you either love it or you hate it!" how is that good marketing?
Do you guys have Bovril? it's beef extract... and is equally horrible.People have like a hot Bovril drink sometimes, making me gag thinking about it.

I have a pair of the Rockband 2 cymbols and they are FAR superior than the world tour ones. Even though they just act as a stand in for the other pads..... they are still made great and add alot to the experience. you wouldnt think so but being able to hit a cymbol at the end of a drumroll is AMAZING!.

The taste of Marmite is pretty comparable to that of Vegemite, although expert tasters can notice different nuances in the two products ;)
Funnily enough, the first time I tasted Marmite I dipped a knife in a jar and tried it PURE and had the same gag reflex as Alexander. After that I didn't look at another jar for a long time. However, years later it became one of my favourite spreads for toast. Maybe it's like beer, it is in fact a secondary product of the beer brewing process, and you just have to persevere with it until you like it.

Hi,
Now i just started the "Find-the-dish-and-put-it-instead-of-the-broken-one" quest in fallout, but Alexander did you remember to pick up the "fatman" from the squad outside the radio station? - not a spoiler, just pure advice !! - i might be surprised but i dont think it will take me 10 houres *S*
Thanks for the best show, and one of the best team, in xbox 360 related stuff ever *S*

Where is the Red Ring of Death support group?
Mine just died today and nobody talks about it anymore. Oh, great podcast, I have to keep it relevant to the blog entry.
Shadowman @ Jan 7th 2009 10:35AM
Marmite is pure win! Spread it thinly? No way, Thick on Toast, Thick on Biscuits and Thick in Cheese Sandwiches.
The "You either love it or hate it" tag-line is 100% correct, It's either something you like or hate the first time you taste it, and it will never change.

I kind of got my message read on the show. Nice! But seriously Sensi, I didn't know you like RTS games. After listening to the podcast though, I understand that your Halo Wars excitement is a based on your love for Halo.
My most anticipated game of 2009 is Star Ocean: The Last Hope. This was a 360 exclusive and imagine if it is the only SE (I know it's Tri-Ace but still) big-budget title to release in 2009? If it's good, it will definitely move consoles. Square's RPG efforts on the 360 this year were lacking (Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant).
Obviously, FFXIII won't release in the US in 2009 b/c the 360 version hasn't even been started, and don't get me started on localisation. With the absence of FFXIII stateside and SO 360 bundles, I bet this game will be a sleeping giant for the 360.
