Microsoft
has announced that two new Xbox 360 bundles are headed to Japan. The first is a
Star Ocean 4 bundle which will be available February 19 and will include an Xbox 360 Arcade unit with 256MB of internal memory, a faceplate and a soundtrack CD for ¥24,800 ($263). The second is a
Resident Evil 5 bundle which will include a 60GB Xbox 360 Pro console, the
Resident Evil 5 Deluxe Edition and a headset. The Deluxe Edition -- which appears to be different from the
Limited Edition announced last month -- comes in a collector's tin case and includes a soundtrack CD. The
Resident Evil 5 bundle is set to arrive in Japan on March 5 and will sell for ¥34,800 ($370).

Japan always gets cool bundles. Hell I just had to get one of the blue dragon faceplates off ebay which came from one of the bundles.
Sucks the RE5 bundle doesn't get its own faceplate, I'd imagine if it did it would look sexeh.

They have to give the Japanese a reason to buy their console.

And we get kung fu panda bundles.
myabsolution @ Jan 6th 2009 11:17AM
I wouldnt be surprised if they made a Yaris-themed faceplate just for us too...
just a joke, yes.

What the fuck... I'd expect Japan-based Sony to give their best shit to Japan... not Microsoft, an American-based company.

Stop being an ass. This is to attract more Japanese gamers to the 360 which is by far the best console on the planet yet is way behind in Japan. More Japanese gamers means more Japanese support in terms of game development.
myabsolution @ Jan 6th 2009 11:51AM
This generation has been really odd...
considering the 360 has more japanese developer support than the PS3 does.
and generally the 360 caters to more Japanese genres than the PS3 does. (im especially looking at Shmups and JRPGS)
Good for Microsoft.

That is nice....so what is it for us?...........
offday @ Jan 6th 2009 12:20PM
I was wondering that too. I mean I guess it's Xbox related, but how exactly does it effect anyone who reads this blog?
ryan @ Jan 6th 2009 12:38PM
Because some gamers in Japan may be able to read this and might be interested in these deals.
There. I just felt like you might want to know there is a world out there.
offday @ Jan 6th 2009 6:39PM
Honestly dude. Be realistic. How many Japanese gamers are reading an english blog based in America with 99% american and european stories?

the video cable on the resident evil 5 bundle has a strange plug i dont recognize. is that the japanese equivalent of component? Anyone know what the mystery plug on the RE5 bundles video cable is?
Copland @ Jan 6th 2009 3:10PM
James
Its called the "D terminal" if you directly translate it.
Technically its the same as component cables (which I think your used to), but D terminal cables are alot more compact. Components have 3 cables just for video signals, but "D terminal" cables, they're all wrapped up in to a single cable and the connecter looks similar to computer cable.
I think this is specific to Japan and not available in other countries.
Look at this Wikipedia site for more information.
