IPTV on the 360 still in test, not totally dead

Zatz Not Funny! is reporting that IPTV is going through "multiple carrier field trials" and that U.S. 360 owners may be able to get IPTV access through AT&Ts U-verse. Though, that's only speculation. As far as Europe goes, BT is still the go-to IPTV carrier, but official launch details are still up in the air. All said, we wonder if anyone is still interested in IPTV functionality on the 360. Anyone?

As a person who doesn't own a DVR and hates the idea of modifying my schedule around TV, I am quite interested in this.

Free? We are talking about Microsoft and the World is in the middle of a recession/depression.

It should be free beyond paying for live and paying for AT&T U-Verse.
Usually last-mile providers charge you a fee for using their set top box. It's generally like $10 on top of your monthly service fees. So what I would like to see is since I am bringing my own set top box to the table (my xbox) that I don't have to pay that fee and only have to pay my normal service fees for U-Verse. This would be completely fair.

Well, if the 360 gets Hulu, Joost, TV.com, ABC.com's shows and a few others (Like PlayOn has) the need is reduced. However I would love Cable and Telco's have some balls and either get it or let someone bring it.

Well Netflix is talking about a deal with Hulu and some other broadcast networks. If this happens then $8.99 plus an internet connection would defer a lot of people to pay the price of cable...

What IPTV aught to be is a conduit from the provider of my choice to my 360. I shouldn't be limited to just whoever has the concession offered by my cable company. If I can tap into Netflix, I should be able to find my way to anybody. Or so *I* think...

If anyone in Europe is still interested? Well, let us see. Scandinavia doesn't have:
1: Movie Marketplace
2: Netflix
3: The Xbox Insider Show
4: Community Games
5: Aegis Wings (or Yaris, for that matter)
6: The 24 Theme and Gamer Pics
7: 99% of the free stuff US gets
I think it's safe to say that our interest in 360 IPTV isn't of Microsoft's concern. It never was, and it probably never will be.

As someone who just got AT&T U-Verse, this might be very exciting. It would be very nifty if I could ditch the AT&T box in my game room and use the 360 as the interface. I don't need it to be a DVR, the AT&T service came with one and it's in the living room. But being able to watch TV and access things I already recorded would be a very cool feature. I can already schedule things to record via the web, why not the 360 as well.

If done well via Uverse I would interested. At most I would pay $5 a month for it since I could get another box from AT&T for that price.

Take out the disc. My 360 runs pretty quietly with an empty disc drive or while using the play from HDD feature.

I'd be interested! Every cable box, set top box, or sat receiver i've ever used has sucked crap because of the interface.
I have a Media Center (which is good) PC, but it doenst have HD. IPTV on my 360 would be awesome.

I don't know what IPTV is.
I'm imagining a freeview box that does HD?
If it is, then I may be interested. If I have to pay monthly for it, forget it. If it turns out to be any good I might consider a one-off payment of about 800 points max.

I'm presently with BT & would like their BT Vision service but don't want another box & remote under the tv! If it worked through the 360 I'd be very interested. With no netflix here least I can rent from BT Vision, the movies to rent on the marketplace hardly have any new releases..

I've got Vision and it is a trumped up Freeview box.
The OD content is over-priced, the box is not very reliable, and it is as noisey as hell.
Although the UI is almost identical to that shown in the image for this post.
On a plus note, it has the most stable Freeview signal of any freeview box/TV I have ever used.

I would love IPTV on the 360.
Free would be Awesome, but if that is not the case, at least some type of deal of subscribing to only the channels you want.(For me, Discovery Networks, National Geographic and a few others)
