Xbox 360 Fancast 099 -- Mmm ... Marmite
This is it, the last episode before we hit the mighty number 100. Barring some horrible catastrophe on a galactic scale, we'll probably make it. This week, we discuss all the latest news, one hilarious Sony email and plenty more. We also spend a healthy (?) chunk of time discussing 1-2 flush toilets and Marmite. Don't ask us why, but Marmite has probably incited more emails that anything we've ever discussed on the show. Go figure. Listen and find out why.

Sometimes takes some time to update the feed.
Richard Mitchell @ Jan 12th 2009 7:02PM

Just had the startling realization why I'm mildly depressed right now, X3F. It's only partially due to the weather and dearth of cool stuff to talk about..it's something else entirely.
It's because of the fact that at least since October, I've been wandering miles and miles of virtual rubble and earth-tone debris in almost every new game I've played. Call of Duty: World @ War, Silent Hill Homecoming, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead was altogether untidy, and lest I forget the grandaddy of them all, Fallout 3. I mean..z'damn.
I don't know about you guys, but the first hour or so of just meandering around the DC wasteland was like experiencing virtual-world deep clinical depression with Gamerscore attached.
The game was my GOTY and with countless reasons to back that, and the depression pangs passed as soon as I realized just incredible the game was.
I got slapped AGAIN with World At War though, and that's probably been the longer-lasting impact for me. The funk all of this WWII battle aftermath has me in is almost palpable. I've been doing the 'level-up grind' in that game since Christmas, and I've been absorbing a lot more than my recommended USDA daily allowance of rubble and muted colors these days. and I think I need to spend some time in a brightly painted room now or something.
Perhaps it's time to play some fluffy-bunny game with a high level of passive sweetness to balance out this whole thing. Maybe that's why Kingdom for Keflings released when it did. Hmmm..
Jcarpio @ Jan 12th 2009 7:33PM
In that case, I'd recommend Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts&Bolts.
john paul @ Jan 12th 2009 8:41PM
Try Fable 2, Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge; those are some

Dustin's hooker story is flat out awesome.
Dustin Burg @ Jan 12th 2009 8:11PM
I know how to handle my hookers.
myabsolution @ Jan 12th 2009 10:23PM
I know that story was so hilarious and shocking.
Dustin's character is one badass evil mofo.
Aero @ Jan 13th 2009 5:35AM
I THINK YOU'D BETTER LEAVE
Arnie @ Jan 12th 2009 8:30PM
Thanks for reading my email folks. Congrats on your upcoming 100. Meanwhile, I got Braid recently and if 1 button press is not simple I dont know what is. Great game!
Bmurph @ Jan 13th 2009 10:53AM
Read this when you are done with the game.

Really good write-up I thought. I still loved the game, but I think the writer makes a lot of relaly good points - and sums up how I felt after reading though the epilogue.
Magic Whiskey @ Jan 12th 2009 10:55PM
Okay, I'll just say it: Enough with this damn Marmite talk, X3F. Marmite sounded like a plaster or a compound resin used in dentistry before you all explained what it was, and you know what? It sounds even worse than that now.
As a representative of the geek world, I have to say that in regards to food, if it's not caffeinated, it's CRAP!
(Drink Game Fuel.)

I have a friend who can't play shooters, GeoWars, looks at the controller for a button etc - but you know what she CAN play? Totemball (the one you use with the camera where you wave your arms around)
It's free and has 2 player co-op to boot
Hello! @ Jan 13th 2009 3:24AM

It's said Bov-Ril (like of) , not Bow-vril. It's may be from a bovine, but it aint pronounced like one.
Anyway it sucks!
ScreamoUK @ Jan 13th 2009 8:18AM
Hey guys,
did I detect a small amount of malice in Alexander's tone when he was taking the mickey out of Dustin?
Anyway, I'm super glad that superdunners is embracing other games.
I need to check out Fable 2 myself.
Dustin Burg @ Jan 14th 2009 2:05AM
Embrace away!
ScreamoUK @ Jan 13th 2009 8:23AM
Oh yeah,
when I was a kid I used to play a lot of 5-a-side football (soccer) tournaments in the off season.
We were all encouraged to drink bovril to keep us warm and I still remember it tasting like ass.
think of a really strong, rank tasting gravy and mix it with battery acid. that might come close to how god-awful it is.
Jcarpio @ Jan 13th 2009 8:30AM
To add one more thing about the Sony email , and then I'll be finished with that subject.
You know what else comes out of the box with a wii and the 360 but not the PS3 (at least this SKU)?
Games
Momer @ Jan 13th 2009 4:49PM
Hey Xav, for the 100th episode could you do a Dane Cook impression? That would make my day :D
Longdongmcgong @ Jan 13th 2009 11:05PM
That impression of Dustin was right on!!!
Stephen @ Jan 14th 2009 2:30PM
You can't kill the kids in Fallout 3 either, Xav.
I can't belive you tried. For the love of God, they're virtual children, with virtual lives!
Yeah, I tried too :)
