Oh snap: Maxim scores 50 Cent 2 higher than Killzone 2, SFIV

Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, Maxim has dropped knowledge upon us. Read this, know this, feel it in your bones: 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand has been scored higher than both Killzone 2 and Street Fighter IV. This comes as GameTrailers member G00se has posted scans of the latest issue, in which 50 Cent is given a 4/5, Killzone 2 a 3.5/5 and Street Fighter IV a 3/5. Maxim calls 50 Cent "a wanksta proof gem," noting its new Fiddy songs, co-op play and "a story that is Indiana Jones meets Scarface." Killzone 2 -- which the magazine refers to as Kill Zone 2 -- is labeled "the hottest girl at the ball, if not quite the best dancer." And SFIV? Maxim notes that "it takes the series to 3D" -- even though that actually happened ages ago -- but "loses a fistful of its old-school soul."

We can't think of any possible way to expand upon this. No, really, that's all we got.

Yeah... I realize you are a troll, but still I tend to agree. From all the videos I have seen KZ2 looks like it offers absolutely nothing to the FPS genra except for pretty graphics. Far Cry 2 had very pretty graphics but that game sucked as well. (and Crysis IMO)

On top of it, from the spoiler movies I have seen, the game seems to be a retelling of the first Iraq war from a pro-bushie stance. Sony games seem really big on the stupid stories. I don't care about the melodrama. I play FPS for the head shots, although grenade sticks were a happy diversion;)

Add in another red flag that I see in games a lot... long development time with lots of delays, those games always seem to be disappointments.

Finally, I could ignore all those issues for great FPS, but it is on PS3... So the whole thing is going to be a quiet experience.

And WTF??? No co-op??? In 2009 a game is gonna be released without co-op? Are you kidding me?

Soooo... looking at Maxims demographic it is quite possible that 50 cent will be a better game to their readers than KZ2 which looks over the top nerdy and lacking anything that will make it stand out.

Relax, that's the score Maxim gave it. We here find amusement in that as much as if it were posted on the PS3fanboy site. Some may laugh and think that says something about the game and others may laugh because it says something about the magazine.

Is Killzone 2 actually any good? They are all creaming over it and I was seriously thinking of getting the bundle, but now I'm not so sure, the graphics are awesome, but I've read the controls are not very good and the multiplayer isn't cracked up to be as good as the game hype. Halo 3 may be a far cry away graphically, but the gameplay has always been superb. Maybe I should stay faithful to the 360, I'm still on the fence though tbh.

I've seen the ones on Metacritic, but some guys from 1up who played it really bitched about the controls and I hate the PS3 pad as it is, but I'm a diehard FPS fan, hence my interest.

I was in the BETA for it a few months back. I used to have no interest in this game. It was always L4D, H3, GoW2, Fable 2, and CoD4 for me. I do have quite a few great PS3 exclusives, but I do prefer the 360. After playing the Beta for KZ2, I know this is going to be one of the biggest shooters for 09. I can see the best FPS award for 09 being fought between KZ2 and CoDMW2. The guys at 1UP are being overly dramatic. Are the controls ackward at times, yes, but the controls adjust well surprisingly, plus I hear there is this device that can make it so you can play a PS3 game with a 360 controller. It's worth the money, trust me. Besides, you can always sell.

get it, trust me, it's way worth it, you will not regret it, and if you do i'll give you my address so you can send me a dog turd or something, this is coming from a PS3 and 360 owner, they are both terrific, they both have great games, though i play gears and halo on PC, and the PSN is just as great as xbox live, however i think the PS3's XMB is way easier and way more organized, but i think that NXE's avatars are slightly better than home, but the minigames and stuff in home are fun

I think it'll be good. The 1st was a solid game, and I think they'll improve on a lot. Biggest downside is no achievements. =(

Take it from a guy who has a stack of Maxim's sitting right next to him, these guys don't know anything about anything other than how to airbrush Hollywood's hottest hoes to make them seem half attractive.

They butcher any sport they talk about, give bad game reviews, feature horrible cars, talk about crappy music....what else am I missing? I've gotten every issue for the past few years for free and while their articles CAN be funny, most of the time they have no idea what they are talking about.

They recently did a feature on the 99 best beers in the world.

Let's just say Colt 45 made the list (as best of the bottom shelf) and great beers from Ska, Left Hand, Flying Dog, Urthel (at left), Unibroue, Delirium, etc. didn't... (sorry, it's not hard to think of beers better than Colt 45).

One more thing... Hamm's wins a Great American Beer Fest award and they don't make the 'best of the bottom shelf'?

@danny: yeah, i played the acrade version of SFIV, and it was great, it played exactly like you would expect street fighter would, the combos are really inuitive, and it's just overall great

Although they are playstation magazines, they are indeed credible. They are very harsh with PS3 exclusives, just like the 360 mags. I guess they can't release reviews from top reviewers like Gametrailers, IGN, and Gamepro yet.

See, when you read a mag that has little to do with gaming, you are more immune to statements like that. I'm inclined to think that KZ2 isn't as good as some people "know" it will be, and BitS is better than we think it will be.
