MK vs. DC fights its way to 1.8 million copies, next MK in development

Wouldn't you know, Midway's MK and DC blend of kombat has turned out to be a hit, as they just announced that they have already shipped 1.8 million copies of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Applause for that. We also learn from MK creative director Ed Boon that his team is already hard at work on the next MK edition. One that could possibly break the 2 million units shipped milestone and possibly bring back that 2D fighting artsy feel, sort of like a certain Street Fighter? Hmm, maybe?

Mortal Kombat vs Marvel Universe..I Hope and please please make the Game Mrated with Better Fatalities cuz they sucked on mk vs dc

No, no, no... please no more crossovers, just a refined real MK title like the old times. Only then we can have the gore back. Crossover = Teen rating.

you talk like it was midways decision to do a Teen rating with such toned down fatalities.

I'm sort of confused here...does shipped copies equal copies actually sold??

who cares?? i rather they remain positive and not sacking the development team in the meantime.....

ugh i hate the new look of street fighter. give me a gritty mk for once where the characters actually look intimidating and then ill come back to the series

That's good news. MK vs DC was fine and all, but what I really want is a full-gore next (current) gen MK. Hope Boon delivers :)
(And make it extra-gory please... there are games out there that put MK's current level of blood to shame)

Wait. Did you say MK is goin' back to 2D like SF4? O_o
That'd be so effing sweet!

Wouldn't it though?

I'd really like a fleshed out version of the versus mode from Shaolin Monks. Why didn't arena fighters ever really catch on?

Didn't Midway say this was their last Mortal Kombat game?
I'm almost positive that they were ending the series (at least until Midway recovered from financial ruin) before..
Anyone answer me on this?
