Target clearance: Too Human, Mercenaries 2, Fracture and others

Everyone's favorite aggressive clearance retailer, Target, is discounting their old video game stock. This means that your local Target has cut the price of Xbox 360 titles including Fracture, Virtua Fighter 5, Too Human, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise and others by as much as 30%. Playstation 3 titles including Mercenaries 2, Web of Shadows, EndWar and others have also seen a price cut. As always, your mileage may vary depending on your local store's selection and price cutting schedule.
For those willing to tempt fate by not making a purchase just yet, expect what's left of the clearance selection to be discounted by as much as 50% in the next week or so. It's Target tradition.

Peff @ Jan 29th 2009 4:55PM
shut up about the stupid ps3. keep it strictly xbox 360.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 29th 2009 4:57PM
ummmmmmm welcome to the "NEW" Joystiq
Darkharmony @ Jan 29th 2009 6:57PM
I'm sorry I gotta agree, I don't want to be hearing about ps3 discounts. Get back to me when it's 360 discounts.
Urza @ Jan 29th 2009 7:12PM
Guys you don't understand, any news about Xbox, will be posted here and Joystiq. If it's PS3 related (or even Wii related) then it will also be posted there. There won't be a Xbox version of the post, a PS3 version of the same post, and a Wii version of the post (there are Wii games on clearance too btw.)
If Dustin, for example, writes an xbox only article it goes here and will be promoted to appear on the Joystiq page if it's good (and big news). If Dustin writes an xbox/ps3 article it'll appear in both sections, if it's good it'll get promoted.
That said, you'll never see Dustin write an article for the Xbox section and then rewrite it for the PS3 section. Joystiq is eliminating the redundant posts that are rewritten to fit the affiliate sections. Get used to it, this is Joystiq now, not Xbox360Fanboy.

WHO GIVES A SHIT
it's not like reading "ps3" makes your eyes bleed or anything. just skip a damn paragraph
LilTmac2003 @ Jan 29th 2009 11:51PM
[Peff]
I got to give it to you man, I completely agree. I also read articles on PS3fanbo... I mean JoyStiq [PlayStation], but when I want my daily 360 news, I'll go to JoyStiq [Xbox]
[Jeramy]
I get what your saying man, anyone can just skip the little paragraph, but 100% of people come to JoyStiq [Xbox] to read specifically about Xbox news.
Peff @ Jan 30th 2009 4:17PM
I know its the fact that they are keeping it efficient by making only one post. but its the fact that i want only 360 news on my favorite site. i dont want to hear about the ps3. and when i read the comments i want them to be people who enjoy the same console as i do. i dont want to hear ps3 fanboys crap. its plain and simple.
Josh @ Jan 31st 2009 1:23PM
You're being the fucking fanboy, so shut the fuck up and just play your damn console. Let others play what they want and let the rest of us play them all.
This new Joystiq is objectively better, so shut up.
Ooooo K. I'm good now.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 1st 2009 10:45AM
yea dude you might want to just leave Joystiq alone altogether then.......pussy.........
frankmcma @ Jan 29th 2009 4:59PM
This occurs weekly at Target. Go to the video games section and look on the end of the aisles. It's usually stacked with odd ipod cases, old electronic pictures frames, just random stuff. There is almost always a couple piles of clearance xbox, ps3 and psp games. Not old classic titles, but major releases that are a few months old. I have gotten many bargains this way. it's usually completely random but the discounts are 30%-50%. They buy more than than can fit for the glass cases, and if the stuff does not move, its overstock and moved to the end of the aisles.
So next time your girlfriend wants to go to Target...wander in with her.

I might be Tempted to get Mercs 2 Depending on the price...........
Fiddlesworth @ Jan 29th 2009 5:02PM
Why have I been taken to http://xbox.joystiq.com and what's with the 360 games? Sort it out.
Tony @ Jan 29th 2009 5:04PM
I used to work there and got tons of deals. One time the Target I was at had probably 50 copies of Paper Mario 64 for $7 apiece. They regularly had awesome N64 clearances, I can't tell you how many good games I got for less than $10.
I check it pretty much any time I'm at Target (along with whatever Marvel Mighty Muggs they have), like I'm sure a lot of people do. Lately they haven't really been cutting the prices as much as they used to ($15 off instead of $25, etc).
Most of these have been cut down for a while though, so I'd be surprised if you found any of these specifically. The one I go to mostly seems to have sports and PC games... Pure was the most recent good deal.
They call them "endcaps", by the way.
MedHead @ Jan 29th 2009 5:08PM
Using the "new" PSP Fanboy feed, I get an article that mentions the PS3, and takes me to the Xbox page. Excellent.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 29th 2009 5:24PM
lol
Dave @ Jan 29th 2009 5:15PM
I picked up the GH III and GH Aerosmith bundles a few weeks ago for the amazingly insane price of $24.98 each. The games alone were still $49.99. Go figure.
offday @ Jan 29th 2009 5:46PM
What?! Bundles?! As in the guitar and the game?!
Where the f were you on that one joystiq???
Dave @ Jan 29th 2009 5:53PM
Yep, the wireless bundles. They had a whole sidecap of them--easy Gamerscore points. Documentation at my blog: http://holographicmeatloaf.com/2009/01/03/bargain-hunting/
But as stated in the article, each Target's clearance will vary. A few others in my area still had them full price or still $49.98 on clearance.
For more fun, search the blog for "Crackdown" :)
Deezul @ Jan 29th 2009 5:16PM
I got to say, target games at 30% is NOT a big deal. When they hit 50% and 75% off, that's when I start to notice. I picked up two copies of GH:Aerosmith for the PS3 for $12.49. I took one to BB after Christmas to exchange it for a 360 version for an even exchange, and "returned" one to Wal-Mart and got $45 in store credit. :-D I've got quite a few each achievement games at the end caps, then I put them up for sale on eBay or Half.com
mcwattersm @ Jan 29th 2009 5:31PM
Can't believe people are still bitching about the new site. If you don't like the PS3 stuff, don't read it! It doesn't affect you in any way whatsoever.
Jon @ Jan 29th 2009 5:52PM
And if I start to read an article in the xbox section that mentions nothing but PS3, I keep reading to expect something about xbox but noooo. This post is fine, but there was one the other day that never even mentioned Xbox at all. People are bitching because they come to see news for THEIR console, not everyone else's. It's like if something can possibly remotely be related to one console, it gets put in that section. This works out for those with all the consoles.
But yeah, we could all just go to joystiq.com or something, then sift through to see only what we want to see... pffft. I come here to see xbox only!
mcwattersm @ Jan 29th 2009 6:00PM
Is it hurting you in anyway to read something irrelevant to the video game console you own? Does it cost you money? Are you losing sleep as a result? No. Stop being so childish.
Also complaining to the editors are going to get you no where. They don't control what content should be displayed on what pages, they just write about what they are told. If they are told to write about Xbox 360 and PS3, then they are going to do that. Why? Because it is their job, don't tell people how to do their job.
Darkharmony @ Jan 29th 2009 7:01PM
Look, I don't care if both are mentioned. But if I go my favorite 360 site and get ps3 news that is just wasting my time. Yeah I'm gonna be a little bugged. When I saw the article I thought it was 360 sales and thought awesome new games for me. But then come to find out it's for a console I don't own.
Teh Bonerer @ Jan 30th 2009 1:42AM
thanks to target clearance i got GH3 wireless guitar bundle for 25 bucks
Etchasketchist @ Jan 29th 2009 6:22PM
Lol! Look at the whiny fanboys bitchin' and moanin'. Look at 'em!
Vcize @ Jan 29th 2009 6:30PM
Are these % offs from the $60 MSRP? If so, not a great deal on most of them as most have been available at $30 or under many times before.
If it's that % off that already discounted price then these are some good deals.
Urza @ Jan 29th 2009 7:22PM
Looks like they're "we're not carrying them anymore" markdowns.
DBoyFlex @ Jan 29th 2009 7:37PM
Target always has great deals, thanks.
Jose @ Jan 29th 2009 8:42PM
I just picked up VF5 for $13.
clintone @ Jan 30th 2009 12:20AM
hey you tardos, mercenaries 2 for 360 is $20 at most stores. it's even cheaper than the $27 ps3 version. i saw fracture for 360 at $30 too. seriously guys. this site is for gaming NEWS. a sale is not news. if you want to see whats on sale all the time and with usually very accurate info stick to cheapassgamer.com or slickdeals.net
Boff @ Jan 30th 2009 5:11AM
Too Human is well worth picking up, imho.
But it's a game you have to put the time into for full enjoyment.
token2k6 @ Jan 30th 2009 1:11PM
this isn't much...I went on my lunch break to Target and Mercs 2, Fracture and Too Human were all priced at $27.98 w/ the clearence price. Fracture is going for $19.99 at GameStop.
no, thanks, I'll pass. If it was $17.98 for Mercs 2, then sure!
