Free Blue Dragon anime appears from the shadows

The Blue Dragon anime's pilot episode, "The Shadow Comes Forth", can be grabbed from the iTunes Store for free, through March 10. That's a savings of $1.99. We can only hope that watching an episode of Shu search for the Night Master, while attempting to prove he isn't a child, doesn't involve any form of digital disc swapping.

Damn. Thought this was available over the Marketplace.
Rick @ Feb 25th 2009 2:39PM
It is. 1st episode being free there also.
Cyber-Tyrant @ Feb 25th 2009 2:17PM
I saw it on CN. Not even worth the free offer...

At least it's not an offer like the free episode of Voltron they offered a while ago, which was the first episode. You know, the one where we don't even see the Voltron mech at all? This has to be a better offer than that.

I enjoyed Blue Dragon on some level... It's archaic in some ways, but there were a lot of neat ideas in it for starting and fighting battles.
That said, the characters were largely just plain uninteresting. I'd almost say unlikeable. I'm not about to watch a whole show dedicated to them.

This offer is available for both the U.S and Canada, if not any other places.

Um, it's not listed in the Marketplace. I'm getting a message, "This content is not currently available."

Would be nice if marketplace would offer things like this every once in awhile.

I watched this on Marketplace last night. Yes, it's there, episode 1 is free.

Doesn't seem to follow the game's storyline so much ("shadow power" is something that's already inside, waiting to be tapped; not something that comes from injesting glowing orb thingys). Pretty typical anime cartoon fare.
CyberKnight @ Feb 25th 2009 5:25PM
Er, "ingesting", not "injesting". They eat them, not make jokes at them. X(

I'm guessing this is dub-only?
I saw an episode of this on CN once, and the voices grated on me so badly that they could be saying the most amazing lines in the world, and I'd just want to smash my television.

It doesn't look as fun as the Blue Dragon manga.... that had way more breasts, public nudity and general naughtiness...
