Xbox Live Top 10: Halo 3 and the usual suspects
It's time to check in with the Xbox Live Top 10 again, and Major Nelson informs us folks were pretty much playing the same stuff they've always been playing last week. Snagging the top spot again was none other than Halo 3 (big surprise there), however folks set aside some time to head into the Wastes with a bit of Fallout 3 (thanks to Broken Steel, no doubt). Resident Evil 5 managed to hold onto last place, with the UFC 2009 Undisputed demo also being a hot item for gamers last week.
On the XBLA side, people have been enjoying the colorful Space Invaders Extreme, as well as the usual amounts of Hasbro Family Game Night and Castle Crashers. Invading the list (rather surprisingly, we might add) in last place is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which we guess can be attributed to people needing a fix after seeing the new version.

Hooray for Halo and all, but I'm disappointed that Street Fighter IV never seems to get up there. One of the best games this gen in my eye.

i'm getting sick of the stupid hasbro games being number 2 on the list. i will say though its not really that i care so much about the list, more so its the actual tools that are buying these games which is basically telling game companies: yes you can charge ridiculous prices for games and we will buy them.
Markez @ May 12th 2009 4:51PM
Hey David, do you know if they release full stats anywhere? I've always been curious to see what the activity level is on some of my older games and wanted to see if anyone is playing multiplayer Darkness, for example.
This past Saturday I also noticed on one of the channels that it said there was a game marathon for Fallout 3 or something, is there anything to that? Orrrrr just some waste of space that says 'play all night'?
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 5:08PM
yeah if you click on it it says "if you ever needed an excuse for a marathon gaming session, here it is!"
Also no one, no one, plays The Darkness multiplayer
TheAngryGamer @ May 12th 2009 5:01PM
it was the guy in the cowboy hat.
whoever the eff he is.
ImbecilePete @ May 13th 2009 11:51AM
how did a muppet like you not recognize him?
The Dark Wayne @ May 12th 2009 5:08PM
I cant understand why people play GTA IVs multiplayer, unless since Fallout 3 was on there too, it counts singleplaying.
Disco Ball @ May 12th 2009 5:10PM
These lists count hours logged on LIVE. So as long as you are playing a game while connected to the LIVE service it will count it. This is NOT just Multiplayer hours, it counts the Single Player hours also.

Yeah that's what confused me, so I thought maybe somewhere I could find some reference point for how many people were playing what game multiplayer. I pretty much knew that barely anybody was playing Darkness multiplayer, just curious as to the specific tally.
I only tried GTAIV multiplayer once and thought it was ok... Did it devolve into a cesspool of super hardcore folks and you die right away all the time or what? Might try it out again sometime. I'll probably play it again one of these days when I want to go for a few stray cheevos. GTAIV seemed to be a lil stingy on 'em, imo.

Congrats to Halo 3 for being #1 for a month, 2 years after release! Here's to many more hours logged into the game!!

Cripes. It seems that Halo is the beast that will never die. I got bored of it after several months. Don't get me wrong - I got a *lot* of playtime out of it - I'm just amazed that folk are still putting such a huge amount of time into it
343 Guilty Fart @ May 12th 2009 7:07PM
I just logged my 1,780th game, which is exactly how many games of Halo 2 I played according to Bnet. Many of us are still playing, you can be sure of that.

Halo 3 is the shit man!! no game can top that. when it comes playing with friends that is. most ppl are log on to halo for the customes games.. there lots of matchmaking too but alot got to do with the customization of the maps. I for one enjoy playing both .. so halo will still be in the top 5 for a long long time..
traceur_ryuk_shinigami @ May 12th 2009 5:39PM
It's because there's nothing else to play right now.
Matthew @ May 12th 2009 6:36PM
Getting back into Halo 3, really fun game.
criminallyinane @ May 12th 2009 7:15PM
Sure, pick the BLACK guy from Left 4 Dead, not the biker covered in tattoos.
(I'm kidding, by the way.)

Halo 3 is so dominant. Glad it is still getting the play it deserves from gamers.
Boff @ May 13th 2009 4:31AM
Well Fallout will have 1 less player this week. 63 hours in and it either crashes to a grey screen, freezes, or tells me my disk is unreadable (yes, it's installed on the HDD!) every 5 minutes.
Tried persevering but I'm close to smashing the 360 to pieces
Haven't even got round to Broken Steel yet :o(
PeterF @ May 13th 2009 8:01PM
Have you tried taking it off your hard drive and seeing if it will work?
