Ancient Marvel Ultimate Alliance DLC is 'deal of the week'
Sorry, after the Bionic Commando Rearmed Xbox "deal of the week" was yanked, we found the bottom of a couple pint glasses. Anyway, the actual deal this week is Marvel Ultimate Alliance's H/V Pack for 560
($7) -- a pitiful $3 off some DLC from 2007. It's time we talked seriously about hiring a disapproving church lady to sit in Microsoft's marketing office with a stern look on her face.
On a good note, this "deal" was so lambasted in the comments of Major Nelson's post that he said, "I'll pass your comments along to the Marketing team."

yeah, some of these deals have been great, but most of them I have passed on getting.

Not only 3 years old, but should have been unlockables in the first place.

Amen

Well once again Deal of the Week sucks. BCR needs to be $5 soon on XBL.
Sokkratez @ May 18th 2009 7:42PM
This is actually really good marketing. It's marketing for MUA2 -- that they get paid for.

Seriously, I am going to spear some MS marketing people with the flaming trident found on my right!

Vince just sold me this DLC after I ordered the Slap Chop and a Shamwow. Damn that guy is good.

1) Shouldn't have been DLC in the first place
2) Shouldn't cost so much
3) Is years old; the last people who cared about it stopped playing it over a year ago, when they finished it after getting it free with their 360
4) Even with $3 off, it's about $5 more than I'd pay for basically nothing.
5) There are tens of thousands of items and hundreds of downloadable games on XBL. How hard is it to offer a deal every week only to Gold subscribers that doesn't make MS look pathetic and greedy?

On point number five - How hard is it to regularly discount and permanently discount all items on XBLM? Screw this one item a week bs. It's sad that the only discounted items are always completely irrelevant. Alien Homminid and Penny Arcade being the only worthwhile deals thus far, and we already had them because they were good enough at full price.
They need to start permanently discounting almost half the XBLA library (Great games like Penny Arcade 2, Meteos Wars, Exit 2, and Flock! are all set to permanently reside at the bottom of the most popular list) and they need to make map packs / DLC that have been out for at least 6-12 months free or at least 50% off.

@cuteSAVAGE: What, Braid at 800 wasn't a deal? I was pretty happy with the purchase, myself. On top of that, I wasn't one of the folks accidentally charged full price, but I still got a 400 + 100 point refund. 500 points for nothing. Quite cool, and I've still yet to decide what to do with it.
cuteSAVAGE @ May 19th 2009 10:33AM
Forgot about Braid. Another one we got for full price here, because it was totally worth it.
UNSCleric @ May 18th 2009 11:27PM
Awful shit.
Gemini Ace @ May 19th 2009 10:17AM
Major is going to pass it along? Wow, let me hold my breath while it's fixed.

It can be a big deal. But i don't think it is a fair deal.
