Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant coming next month

If you're wondering what to do on a cold night, while snuggling next to a warm fire ... may we suggest, reading? Of course, in this scenario, all electricity is out and video games are no option for you. So, if that's what it takes for you to pick up a book (we kid!), you might be interested in something with a little video game flavor.

Coming to bookstores on July 28 is Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant -- from best-selling sci-fi author Karen Traviss (of Star Wars novel fame!).

Jacinto's Remnant begins moments following the end of Gears of War 2. It's really hard to tell you what the novel is about without spoiling the ending of 2008's Epic Xbox 360-exclusive, but from what we've seen so far, the book looks to paint a picture of humanity's struggle for survival against a new kind of enemy -- itself. Sounds interesting, so far. Excited?

I can only hope the book has such thought provoking dialogue as "THAT'S FIVE MOTHERFUCKERS!" or "There's gonna be ten shitloads of locust down there"

You forgot the heart-wenching, tear-jerking scenes such as Tai blowing his brains out, or the Carmine's deaths, and who can forget the moment where Dom turned to Marcus, a fire in his eyes, and a heart full of lust...

for killing the locust after he saw Maria... god...

They did the same thing with the last book. it was after gears 1 and before gears 2. so Im thinking this one is the same. we are gonna see a gears of war 3 in a years or two. Marcus dad still alive and the locust queen was a human. so maybe this book would tell us something that we been missing.

reading about the gears of war universe sounds fascinating. not. id rather see more focus on creating new content for gamers and not librarians.

I have to agree with you, i had figured that the next book and next game would involve conflicts with humans as well as the locust and the lambent (im speculating) so i cant wait for this one. Also if she writes for star wars i might pick those up as well.
