U-Wars: it's like Gears of War, but underwater

Here's a rather interesting game from a small Russian developer. Currently without a publisher, U-Wars is a third-person shooter that takes place primarily underwater. Players will still be able to duck behind cover, but the mechanic gets an interesting twist in the absence of gravity. With supposedly destructible environments, there's a lot of potential in the game's combat: imagine ducking behind cover, thrusting up, and shooting some harpoons at enemies below. If done properly, the underwater setting offers the potential for a lot of fun.

Underwater combat isn't entirely new, as it's been seen in games like Tomb Raider Underworld and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. It'll be interesting to see how U-Wars fares once it finds a publisher and makes its way to PC, Xbox 360 and PSP.

nice graphics and all but what game doesn't have good graphics these days. I need to hear about a good story

agreed every game has good graphics now.
and some of them have the shortest storyline ever.
also it needs a good online co-op/multiplayer i think some games should raise the bar on the competetive modes (aka tdm) to about 60-62 players like what Resistence did. im sure alot of people will buy a game with that many people online

I don't even care about co-op so much because that is getting better and better with every game that comes out. but the stories and acting are consistently crappy. It's like these developers completely disregard the story when in fact that is what separates a great game from a mediocre one. Why are games so far behind movies in this area?

hopefully uncharted 2, alan wake, and heavy rain help things out

I mean how many scripts are there floating around LA, pick one up and adapt it to a game...

What game doesn't? Um, let's see. Left 4 Dead was a major disappointment in the graphics arena. I run my 360 via HDMI cable 1080p on a new plasma set up and I was so turned off by the crappy graphics, I stopped playing after five minutes. I am not sure how that game won so many awards, perhaps it has a good story, but without good graphics, it didn't interest me. It looked like something you would find on the original XBOX.

How does a dev even come to that conclusion??

I try to avoid underwater levels let alone games,but looks okay though .It just seems fishy why they went with the psp.

About the game, where in the video did he say U-Wars won't be coming out on the PS3? I doubt they would skip the PS3 for the PSP. Even if it doesn't, the guy didn't do a good job at getting you interested in the game. I'll wait till Joystiq does a hands-on impression.
