Jump for joy: N+ is XBLM Deal of the Week
This week's Xbox Live "Deal of the Week" is Metanet's N+ for 560
($7). This confirms Friday's post by Metanet that the game ....
wait a second.
Metanet stated that the game would be "50% off," which means that the game, regularly priced at 800
($10), should be 400
($5)! Back up our mathematicals here, people. Did someone change the rules of percentages over the weekend and not send out a memo?
Update: OK, now it's 400
($5).

$3 off a two year old game that stopped selling long ago, someone show me where the "deal" is.
Arnie @ Jul 6th 2009 10:29AM
Isnt that only 2$ off?(10->8)
Prox @ Jul 6th 2009 11:01AM
10 - 7 = 3
Xevious Mann @ Jul 7th 2009 12:11AM
You guys with the "$ this and $$ that". 4000 MS Point cards can easily be had for $30. That's 133 points to the dollar. Even at 560 it's cheap, with the price fixed it's dirt cheap.
Austin @ Jul 6th 2009 10:32AM
and according to the dev's blog this was supposed to be 50% off. Don't buy this until the dev comes and tells us otherwise or Microsoft corrects the price.

If the comments are any indication, they don't control the price at all and only assumed that it would be 50% off "like EVERY OTHER deal-of-the-week," in their words. Not a very good assumption on their part, and since only a few XBLA deals were ever half off, not a very good observation either.
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Jul 6th 2009 11:36AM
Apparently that remark was made mere minutes before I quoted it, and this followed shortly afterward:
"Wait, we just checked our emails — we didn’t just assume, we were _told_ it would be offered for 400 points. Hooray, it was Microsoft’s fault, not ours!!"
Interesting.

GOOD NEWS!
Microsoft have let us know that it _should_ be 50% off (400 points), it was an error which is in the process of being corrected.
Thanks very much to Oatmeal25 for letting us know — you saved the day! Everyone owes you $2 :)

They fucked this up. If they don't change it I won't buy it.
profeteer @ Jul 6th 2009 10:41AM
Agreed. That's not even 25% off. Lame.
xenocidic @ Jul 6th 2009 11:54AM
You're right, it's 30% off.
Glad to see schools are still churning out geniuses =)

I realized that after I posted... :(
No math class in 6 years = fail at basic percentages
Access Granted @ Jul 6th 2009 10:38AM
I WAS going to buy it for $5 but at $8? HELL NO! people should boycott these crappy deals until we get something nice... consumers need to show MS who the real boss is.
Access Granted @ Jul 6th 2009 10:40AM
Plus you can get the freeware version on pc I think it was just N but it plays the same basically. I really want to support the dev but I can't justify spending 8 dollars on this.
goboColossus (LIVE, PSN - gobopop) @ Jul 6th 2009 10:49AM
You don't need to justify spending $8 or even $10 on one of the most feature packed XBLA games on the marketplace... You just need to do it. Sucks that it isn't 50% off as originally stated, but the game has been out for a little over a year, is one of the most popular games on XBLA, and still goes for $20 on NDS and PSP.
"I really want to support the dev..." - No, no you don't. If you wanted to support the dev, you would have purchased this the week it was released because it was fucking worth it and you wouldn't be bitching over the price.
Austin @ Jul 6th 2009 10:57AM
@goboColossus -- I bought this game originally full price and you are right, I enjoy it. But the makers of this game came out and said this would be 50% off for this weeks Deal of the Week and I figure more of my friends would be more willing to buy it. Also, when it's on sale, a lot more people will buy the game hence more money coming in then what it would normally be if it wasn't on sale.
Access Granted @ Jul 6th 2009 11:26AM
@Gobo - The game is old it should have a PERMANENT price drop plenty of older "feature packed" titles have dropped in price over the last few years. Look at Small Arms, Doom, Marble Blast Ultra, Zuma, UMK3, worms 1, and feeding frenzy. There's no reason for a game to stay and such a high price for over a year. I have only bought a few arcade titles on release date which include: Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid, and Duke Nukem 3D. But these were just to could to pass up and I had justified buying them because my friends had gotten their own copies at the same moment I got mine. Now I know I sort of sounded a little rude in that last post but alot more people would support the devs if the game was 400 ms points I am %100 sure of it. Now I know some people might still get it at 560 ms points but that would leave them at an odd 240 points if they had 800 to begin with. And what would they do with that 240 points? spend it on a movie? or a premium theme perhaps? this is how MS gets people.
I know lots of games should have their price lowered but aren't because they are still getting a profit at the original price after many years just like the Wii console...
P.S. Who knows maybe these guys have a new game around the corner maybe N++? and I would support them on release date next time. It is just that I hadn't heard about the first game until January and the freeware version is just as fun as the trial on xbla.
Heimbachae @ Jul 6th 2009 11:56AM
560/80=7. 7 dollars my friends. 7.
Austin @ Jul 6th 2009 12:11PM
@Heimbachae - The point is is that yes it is $7.00 which isn't a problem (I bought it at $10..) It's the fact that you have to buy more points then you need to get this so you are paying like $12.50 if you getting it through Xbox LIVE marketplace.
That's the problem. People could buy the $6.25 one if they made this 400 points and have 100 left over for whatever instead of 440 from buying the 1000 point pack.
Gemini Ace @ Jul 6th 2009 10:44AM
It's obvious that MS doesn't want to set a precedent by marking something half off. The price can go up by 50%, but no way can it drop that much.
Rhamsey @ Jul 6th 2009 10:48AM
yeah, things have been 50% off already, so i have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
Paul @ Jul 6th 2009 11:12AM
isn't it convenient that it is 560 points too......let me explain. on the 360 you can only buy 500 points or 1000 points at a time. making it half off would have been great and would only require 100 extra points laying around. BUT they made it 60 points more than the 500 point level so now people have to spend over 10 dollars buying 1000 points and have 440 left over. that really pisses me off that ms did this. now, i bought this game the week it came out so i am not personally pissed but i wanted my friends to get this game and the cheaper the better. it just seems like it would be an impulse purchase for the deal of the week like this would mean someone probably doesn't have points stored up and they would have to buy some specifically for this deal.
Prox @ Jul 6th 2009 11:51AM
No joke. A well-conceived deal of the week done right will have people buying it as soon as they see the new price. These crappy deals leave people debating and trying to decide whether or not they're worth going for. I would have spent way more money on deal of the week deals if they were actually a good bargain.
MichaelG @ Jul 6th 2009 12:13PM
This game is worth much, much more than ten dollars. Stop being a wuss and BUY IT RIGHT NOW.

i'm trying to buy it but it still says 560 on xbox live and on xbox.com it says 400 but when i go to buy it it says 560 so guess their system is being dumb right now.
Bob @ Jul 6th 2009 2:16PM
Still showing up as 560. Come on, I want to buy it but not get screwed.
metanet @ Jul 6th 2009 3:16PM
Hooray, 400pts, as promised!
There was an error which is now being corrected (and should be fixed throughout the system soon). Thanks to Microsoft for responding so quickly, and to everyone else for your patience while this issue was fixed. If you bought at 560pts, thanks! You can get a refund by calling support. Hope you enjoy the game, everyone :)
cheers!

CypherVR @ Jul 6th 2009 6:12PM
41 mins later and they gave me a ref # and told me it will be escalated, they also told me that are errors with the MSmarketplace (?)
they actually asked my to verify proof, they told me where i found it and i told them (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/dealoftheweek/) and told them that several blogs including this one have coverage on it.
