Gears of War 2 celebrates new DLC with week of double XP

Listen up, COG soldiers! That new 'All Fronts' and 'Dark Corners' DLC isn't the only new development in the war against the Locust, as command has revealed that Gears of War 2 players will receive double XP all week long. This boost in our supply of experience points will be available to all fighting on the Dark Corners public playlist front, as well as in public and private horde skirmishes. You should already see a boost in your supply of XP and HQ has determined that this abundance of points should last us until August 3, so use them wisely. Now get out there and scratch some grubs!

I recently bought Gears of War 2 Dark Corners Multiplayer Map Pack for 1200 points.
Soon after I realized that I purchased the wrong pack. What I should of purchased was the All Fronts Collection for 1600 points.
As I made the error of purchasing the wrong pack, I looked into buying the map packs that I would need separately. These were the Snowblind Map Pack and Combustible Map Packs that are 800 points each.
It seems really unfair to have to pay 1600 points for both maps separately. This costs more than the other DLS pack that you get every thing with and only costs 1600 points all inclusive!
Can you explain why you charge an excessive amount to purchase the parts that I require? I feel that it is unfair to force consumers to have to purchase full packs, just because it works out cheaper.
This also tends to put consumers off purchasing future games which entail having to fork out extra points/money for the complete game/product!

My brother did the same thing and he is fighting with Microsoft to try and upgrade the pack he purchased, which we all know MS won't let him.

Simple; know what you're buying before you buy it. Buyer beware. Never sign a document that you haven't read or understand.

Microsoft didn't bilk you out of anything. You did not read before you bought and that's on you completely. If Microsoft allows you to grab the two other packs for 400 points that's awesome for you. If they don't, I won't feel bad about it at all. I bought the first two packs on their respective release dates, and have paid 2800msp total for being a loyal customer. It's not a big deal, but the fact that other people can grab every new map and the new part of the campaign for 1600msp is a bit of a slight to the guys that bought both packs prior to the release of the All Fronts pack. So, in the same sense, everybody should have waited until the All Fronts pack came out and saved themselves $15USD, which is essentially what you're bitching over.

Well that would be great if you could actually get accurate information on XBox LIve when you go to buy these things. Usually the info is minimal or even incorrect.
If you buy these new packs do they actually say that "well, many of the packs are already available in ____________ pack" ???

"This downloadable content pack features 7 new Gears 2 multiplayer maps and a bonus deleted single-player chapter, "Road to Ruin," from the Gears of War 2 campaign."

The first lines from the All Fronts DLC description:
"This content pack features all 19 downloadable Gears 2 multiplayer maps and a bonus deleted single-player chapter, "Road to Ruin," from the Gears of War 2 campaign."

Microsoft ain't the problem here, fellas...

Wow, I forgot about the Flashback Map Pack. So if you bought a used copy, and made your mistake, so you'd be out an extra 400msp ($5USD) for a whopping total of 3200msp ($20USD). Oh noes!

As ytilanigiroon stated, 'read before you buy' any items from the Marketplace.

From what I know the "All Fronts" wasn't available on the Dashboard Marketplace or the Xbox Marketplace website right away at the 2a.m. pacific release time period [and yes I was checking]. But, if you were at the GoW2 game menu you would have been able to highlight the 'deleted scene' and purchase the "Dark Corners" DLC pack for 1200msp. Which is what I wanted considering I already own all the previous map packs. So if this is what you did you most likely just lost your chance to get a discounted price for all of Gears2 map packs.

I'm sure you and like most others waited until "All Fronts" was released because is a far greater deal than buying each DLC at list price. Next time be sure not to make the same mistake and READ what you're purchasing.... very important!

it was clearly stated on the dashboard, which another user pointed out above. Also, another user mentioned the fact that these map packs have been covered in great detail over the last couple months, so inadvertently buying the wrong one is Simon's fault, not Microsoft's.

Wow...you had it right with the MSP > $ conversion in the first half of your post...what happened?

3200MSP = $40. Because, as you said, 400MSP = $5.

So therefore:
3200 / 400 = 8
8 x $5 = $40

Q.E.D.

Your right I definitely will read before purchase next time but at the time I was tired from finishing work an I kept getting a message popping up saying could not download information when I was reading it and that’s when I made my error, I just don’t see why it costs that much for the maps I need?

Unfortunately I made the same stupid mistake, but I'm fighting MS to let me upgrade the DLC. I know its my own fault and not MS', but at the same time why can't they help me fix the mistake? What the agents argued was that they sell you a license, so they can't refund the license once I own it. Here is my arguement...if I purchase All Fronts I am receiving a license for Dark Corners, which I already own, and the licenses for all the other map packs. At this point they can refund my MS points for Dark Corners with out concern for the licensing. Doesn't that sound like a solution they can reasonably accept? I know they are not required to, but if they don't that just poor customer service.

fuck microsoft, and they need to better service gold members as well as others. i feel that there should be a more fair solution to purchasing DLC.... for example lets not charge our faithful customers extra for purchasing our products. They at microsoft ask us to pay a set amount, when all i want to spend is how much the DLC costs.... Wal-Mart doesn't make me spend 105$ for something that costs 90$ and then say, well, come back tomorrow and buy something for 15$. FUCK MICROSOFT IN THE ASS!
