Bungie.net updated with ODST stats, 'Road to Recon'

For those about to drop, we figured we'd let you know that Bungie.net has been updated to include stats from the upcoming Halo 3: ODST. Of course, there aren't many stats to speak of just yet, as the game is still a few days away from release. Still, it's nice to know that everything has been implemented. In addition to the stat tracking we've all come to know and love, a new "Road to Recon" feature has been added as well.

This new feature keeps track of the achievements that players have to earn in order to unlock the extremely coveted Recon armor variant. Previously, the armor was available only to those who caught Bungie's notice, usually through some form of community notoriety (or Frankie Photoshopperie). It's important to remember that just because you can now haz Recon without resorting to such shenanigans, Bungie isn't making it easy. The achievement tracker should help you keep track of the ridiculously difficult Vidmaster Challenges.

Like this one: "Finish any level solo on Legendary, on LIVE, with no shots fired or grenades thrown." Yeah, good luck.

Why does it say you need to be 'on LIVE' if you're playing through the campaign?

Also, are any of those Achievements for the Recon armor only available to those who bought the most recent map pack?

So gamesave fags can't get Recon, if you've looked at a person who has gamesaved it shows the achievements were just "Acquired" and there was no specific date when it was obtained.

If you get it while playing online it shows a date.

not all people with achievements like that are cheaters, sometimes you just got them when not connected to XBL, i got almost all the achievements for Prototype and Red Faction when my live was down, and with a singleplayer achievement like Vidmaster Classic it's entirely possible to do offline

Yeah don't get that flying around ranjit. Now I'll be too paranoid to get an achievement when live or my internet goes out. I lost my internet for a week earlier this year after a bad storm.

Anyway, my favorite achievements are the ones I had to work for. Like getting all the veteran achievements in cod4 on the first playthrough.

I wonder if this means stats and rank won't be carried over to the ODST multiplayer disc or if it's just achievements, campaign and firefight stuff

The ODST multiplayer disk, or "Halo 3 Mythic" is just H3 multiplayer on a second disc, while campaign and Firefight are on their own disk. So all your stats and rank should be carried over-some of the H3 achievements require the maps exclusive to the Mythic disc.

There's one level that can be played through on a ghost. All you have to do is run form one end to the other.

The vidmaster achievements aren't actually that hard, per se. But they take patience and persistence....something that should dissuade the kiddy set.

Wonder if 200,000 points is a lot on Firefight.. or I might be stuck on 850points max.. for single player.. I haven't got many of the meta game achievements from the first one (mostly cos I don't want fan-noise), even co-op with my mate, I got the majority of the kills, but he got the score..
ODST will be my excuse to play Halo again.. I get bored of MP far too easily, soon as I win a couple, I stop playing

i wish more games had the sort of online functionality that Halo 2/3/ODST do. it's cool to be able to look up data on every game i've ever played on Live. if CoD4 had that i could finally figure out how long that one kill streak was...

CoD 4 lists your longest kill streak on your in-game stats.

But yeah, I get what you're saying; advanced stat tracking and comparing with an easier interface and more options. I agree.

but yeah, i mean halo even has freaking heat maps so you can see where you go most on maps, where you get your kills, and where you die the most.

this is sooo gay.. i got all the achievements but i though you would unlock recon in halo 3.. but it turns out you only unlock recon in odst so you can only play with recon armor when you play firefight! it suuucks, bungie led us to believe we would finally have recon so everyone bought this game and now we only get to have recon in one game mode... and a sucky mode at that.

Actually you're wrong there. When you complete all the vidmasters achievements, you unlock recon for use in Halo 3 multiplayer.

Noppers, once you have all 7 vidmasters(3 from ODST and 4 from Halo 3) pop over to bungie.net, log in and go to achievements.. then click "get recon" and you unlock recon for use in halo 3 multiplayer.. you unlock the recon in ODST for beating the campaign on legendary.
