Fallout 3 premium theme available now, free to loyal DLC buyers

($3 in pre-war money); however, those who purchased all five of Fallout 3's expansion packs can download the theme for free on October 1.Those obtaining the theme for free will "receive a token from Microsoft" according to Bethesda. We're still a little fuzzy on the specifics, but that's probably because we've been sniffing punga spores. We're still working on getting more details about how the free version will work, but those who want to buy the theme can drop those caps now.
Update: Microsoft will be emailing the codes, so make sure the email attached to your Live account is functioning.

I really wish the themes would so something with that plain space in the front.
Don't know if they really could though....it just steals away from the rest of the theme.

Sweet. I don't own an Xbox nor do have any intention of ever havign one but that Theme is Sweet. I hope they come out with a PS3 one also
Hopefully the PS3 DLC hits today ~fingers and toes crossed!

This actually looks like a premium theme I might want to buy (though probably wont), having not bought all the dlc, I wonder if you'd still get it free if you purchased the dlc packs on the disc bundles? Not that I've done that either.
Dig for me Joystiq, dig and then share your treasures with the world.
andyface @ Sep 17th 2009 10:41AM
also, that's a clever ploy to get people to buy any remaining dlcs that they haven't bought yet. Two weeks notice to get a free theme, if you fork out the 800⊝ per add-on. Clever.
Carbonize @ Sep 17th 2009 10:41AM
I was just wondering that. I have Operation Anchorage and The Pitt on disc and will buy the others once I have some money (money set aside for ODST, MW2 and L4D2 so no spare).

Point Lookout was awesome. One of the better DLCs, and definitely loads better than Mothership Zeta , , , loads better. The only way Point Lookout could have been better, if Bethesda had found a way to tie it directly to the main storyline.
Sir, you do yourself a disservice by not owning it. A disservice, plus now you don't qualify for the free theme to boot.
Do yourself the favor over the next couple of weeks, Point Lookout rocks.

I just realized that I responded to the wrong person. Should have gone out to DaveyAsprey (below) .
Oh well, I cannot be help responsible if Joystiq's reply system gets everyone turned around on occasion.
Davey Asprey @ Sep 17th 2009 10:45AM
i have 4/5 DLC as i dont like the look of Point lookout... so that makes me not 'Loyal' enough for the free theme? What a load of Brahmin shit!

You're probably missing out on the best of all the DLC's :/
Typhojd @ Sep 17th 2009 10:55AM
Hmm purchased all for PC, but as its all linked to same gamertag in GFW and it all comes out of MS points, will I get token to use on xbox?
ChomskyKnows @ Sep 17th 2009 11:06AM
bobble head avatar to go with this please

I really wish they were able to skin the bottom portion of the screen. That has bothered me since this new dash update.
Access Granted [No one can stop Mr. Domino!] @ Sep 17th 2009 11:43AM
That's a pretty sweet theme. I wish it came with GOTY edition or maybe it will be free for that too....
Reuben @ Sep 17th 2009 11:50AM
so, I bought 3 of the DLCs on my account, then moved to the states and started using my wifes account (her being the reason I moved to the states) to get the other 2 (since my bank info wont work with my canadian account, being an american bank and all)
so, legitimate question: am I screwed on getting it for free? anyone have any ideas on that, joystiq?
Dr. Flex @ Sep 17th 2009 12:56PM
When do they have to be purchased by to qualify?
Dr. Flex @ Sep 17th 2009 4:14PM
September 22 is the cutoff date for the purchase by date in order to qualify.

As much as I enjoyed Fallout 3, I'm not about to jump at the opportunity to spend more time in that vomit-colored world again. Especially when I'm not even playing the game. Maybe I'm superficial, but I can't play the game anymore after completing it and the DLC. It's the same reason I'm apprehensive about buying Red Faction Guerilla... I don't want to spend eight hours staring at rust.
At least it'll be free though, maybe I can give the code away.
NBA Kirkland @ Sep 17th 2009 2:30PM
My question is what if you received one or more of the DLC via a giveaway code? Would you still qualify for the free theme if you own all 5 DLC? Can you ask MS about that Joystiq/Alexander?
I asked this question on Bethesda's blog (see link) and the staffer who answered did not know.
It does sounds like if you bought some of the DLC on disc you are out of luck.

I have all the DLC packs so yay I get a sweet theme!!!!! Thanks Bethesda!
Darth Pedo @ Sep 17th 2009 5:19PM
I only have to drop $50 for a "free" theme? Where's my credit card?
Magic Whiskey @ Sep 17th 2009 7:11PM
No email yet, and I don't see it up on the Marketplace either. I ate up everything Fallout 3 with a spoon. Best game this generation, in my opinion.
goboColossus (LIVE, PSN - gobopop) @ Sep 17th 2009 7:38PM
Can't download it for free until October 1st, so I'd assume we won't receive our emails until then or just before.
Angus @ Sep 18th 2009 4:44AM
This should be included in the GOTY edition, since it will feature all off the expansions.
Davey Asprey @ Sep 20th 2009 6:00AM
ah ok if its that good, i think ill buy it then
Liz Pedro @ Oct 2nd 2009 12:21PM
Got the email but the code doesnt work. Just spent an hour with xbox tech support who couldnt help me and referred me to Bethesda. The guy at Bethesda laughed and said to call Microsoft back. Can anyone help?
David G @ Oct 5th 2009 2:51PM
Got the same problem here, seen lots of comments on numerous forums of others having the same issue where the code says its already been used.
i wanted my free theme :(

I live in Norway and haven't gotten an e-mail either :(
Jessecustr @ Oct 28th 2009 2:16PM
Getting very tired of this.
Never got a code, have spent way too much time on hold with MS to be told the same thing over and over, and i'm starting to feel like a loser for trying so hard to get this.
Simple issues like this should have simple solutions. There is no way it should take three weeks (and counting) of investigation. I'm seriously annoyed.
