Halo 3: ODST logs over 900K players in one day
It's been on store shelves for less than two days and Halo 3: ODST has logged nearly a million players in the last 24 hours. More specifically, according to Bungie.net, the game had logged 936,278 players when this post was written. All of those troopers have managed to put away 5,653,310 games. That's roughly six games per person in a 24-hour period. On a weekday. We don't want to jump the gun here, but Bungie just might have a success on its hands.

I've only completed the campaign so far.. though I'm wondering how it'll be to get 200,000 points on Firefight..on my own...

Play on easy and hijack a ghost.
umm....hello??? @ Sep 24th 2009 1:35PM
or jack a brute chopper--played last night with 2 other people on normal on the outdoor map and we were doing so well we had 17 extra lives saved by the 4th round, but it took about 2 hours so we quite once we had the 200,000 points.
the Oni inside base level isn't too hard either, my brother and I got 330,000+ points before we used up all our lives, and that was on the normal difficulty as well. took us about 1.5 hours, made it to the 4th round 2nd set.

i'd be one of those 900K if buy.com would ship my copy already. my roomates picked it up at launch from gamestop and i'm almost wishing i did the same
gd1ddy @ Sep 23rd 2009 8:03PM
I'm with you man. I received my code for Sgt Johnson yet I have no game
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 23rd 2009 10:24PM
I don't know how this happened, but technically, I just got Halo ODST for 35$. There was a 9$ price drop that Amazon gave me because it shipped today (instead of yesterday) and 5$ for the code, and then another 10$ to spend on another game. Holy crap, I was not expecting to get those first two discounts. Sweeeeeet.

I tried playing firefight mode last night with some friends, and it was a lagfest. Not sure if it was our connections or if LIVE was just getting hammered more then usual.
Dan @ Sep 23rd 2009 9:22PM
It was your connection.
I played most of the night without the slightest hiccup.
Damn this game is fun.
CyberKnight @ Sep 23rd 2009 6:25PM
Eh, I think it just shows the success of the franchise. See if the numbers hold up after a month, and then you'll know if the game's a hit.
And if those numbers stay solid through November (when Halo's big competitor, Call of Duty, gets a new release), then you'll have some news. ;)
JUNG GUNS @ Sep 23rd 2009 7:01PM
firefight kicks ass. Campaign is VERY boring so far....

People on Xbox playing a Halo game on Xbox Live
whoo..
lanceyami03 @ Sep 23rd 2009 10:11PM
Cus it makes perfect sense for someone to play a Halo game on any other console *facepalm.jpg*
BFBeast666 @ Sep 23rd 2009 7:26PM
I guess if one of the Bungie devs gets indigestion, Joystiq will blog about this.
WHO CARES?
lanceyami03 @ Sep 23rd 2009 10:13PM
I care. The human digestive system is a wonderful thing. Therefor your argument is invalid.
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 23rd 2009 10:25PM
It really is a beautiful system. Let's pause a moment for that dev....
Chromekreeper @ Sep 23rd 2009 7:38PM
sigh, the only way i will get a chance to play this is at a friends house :(
JD @ Sep 23rd 2009 8:58PM
FireFight is worth the purchase alone. I love this game. Sometimes I don't want to play online games but I still want something competitive. Gears of War 2 had MP with bots. I liked that as something more relaxing than the madness online. Now ODST has brought that to the Halo universe and I can't put it down. Worth every penny in my book.
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 23rd 2009 10:25PM
Hehe. Nice! Good to know Firefight is fun as singleplayer.
luce1sw @ Sep 23rd 2009 11:54PM
gotta agree with you there. I actually had about zero interest in this game, read about the firefight mode, and instantly decided to pre-order it.
Single player is ok...sort of boring to me, but I'll def. be playing firefight alot.
And I don't have to pay for any Halo 3 maps now!

I love the Firefight mode, the trouble is finding 4 decent people to play it with.
In campaign on several of the levels there are occasions where it turns into 10 minutes of Firefight though, and it makes it pretty fun.
