Xbox 360 Fancast 136 -- The End of an Era
This is it. This is the show, kids. It's the very last episode of the Xbox 360 Fancast with Dustin Burg. We figured the most appropriate way to commemorate the occasion would be spending the entire episode talking about Halo 3: ODST, so that's exactly what we did. We also read from the gigantic pile of farewell letters that Dustin received. Give it a listen, and then give our departing host a moment of silence.
Big thanks to Chris Majewski (AKA Magic Whiskey) for the farewell art above. Oh, we're also sure that you're wondering how we plan to deal with the problem of Dustin still being in our regular podcast art. Well, we've got it covered, thanks to reader Kcasey. Hey guys I've been a reader/listener since the very first podcast and I've never missed an episode, but this one was more emotional (for myself) than any episode I've ever heard. It's awesome to hear an entire fancast dedicated to ODST as I'm a Halo addict and I'm utterly immersed in the game myself, however it was just so damn bittersweet since it's coupled with Dustin's exit from the fancast. Dustin, I mean no offense to the other podcasters (Richard, Alexander, and Xav) when I say that your the person I most relate to, and always seems to be the guy who interjects my own views into the podcast (whether it be playing Halo in the ye hours in the morning, or cursing yaris into oblivion.)
After all the hours upon hours of gaming news, bad puns, and just plain 'ol laughs I've gotten from you, all I can say is best wishes with whatever you decide to do next =). I've always felt you bring an incredibly unique and humorous personalty to the podcast, and I know that it will never the be same without you. That's not to say I won't still listen to the podcast anymore, but every week I'm sure you'll be missed. You share a little piece of your world every week, and I feel like I owe you guys for always bringing that into my day. I appreciate all you've done for the podcast, and I hope that your next job will bring you as much enjoyment as you've seemed to get from this one!
On one last note I was wondering if you'd like to play some Firefight with me, and maybe get the Endure achievement? I've heard you talk about your love for Halo and your skillz ;-) on countless podcasts, and I've always wanted to play some halo with you so I figured this would be my very last chance to ask. Better late than never? If you want to game up some firefight my gamertag is "Badkarmacoble" and I'd be awesome if Richard or Xav wanted to get in on the achievement hunting. Best of luck man~

Thanks for all of your work, Dustin. Gotta give props to a fellow Minnesotan. Come to Minneapolis and perhaps we'll cross paths at a meat raffle. =)
The only beef I ever had with Dustin is that, as a Minnesotan, he doesn't care (even a little) for hockey. I won't hold it against you.
Good luck on your next endeavor.
Arnie @ Sep 28th 2009 3:43PM
You will be missed Dustin. You were the only Fanboy on the 'Fancast'. I really enjoyed your antics and optimism. Hope you enjoy whatever you will be doing from now on.
X3F Sticker PIMP @ Sep 28th 2009 3:46PM
I'm honored to have met you and had the pleasure to rep XF3 at the gears launch. You will be missed and our community is a little less funny without you. On behalf of all my friends we bid you a farewell and wish you happiness in your future endeavors.

Dustin: The X3F community cannot tell you enough how much you'll be missed! Personally, I absolutely loved every single one of your posts on Xbox360Fanboy, as well as Joystiq, as they were informative, as well as the most hilarious posts out of all of the editors, which is incredible enough since all of the editors at Joystiq are absolutely top-notch. I really, really, very much enjoyed your presence on Joystiq, and all of us will miss you very much. The best of luck to you and your future endeavors!

One Dustin gone, one Alexander left to go.
Sweet.
joeybeast @ Sep 28th 2009 5:14PM
Next thing you know, Alexander is swooped off my some ad agency to promote marmite.
Richard Mitchell @ Sep 28th 2009 6:51PM
Man, the day Marmite knocks on Alexander's door, he will be gone *so fast*.

Wait, I missed last week's podcast, was this in the works? Where is Dustin going? Who will replace him? Is he finally going to college? Great show, thanks for the laughs :)
Magic Whiskey @ Sep 28th 2009 8:27PM
Finally able to download the show!
As I've said earlier to Dustin, thank you for all your hard work on the show and on the site over the nearly three years of your time here. You've got a hell of a unique personality, and it's one that'll be greatly missed around here. I'll miss your chainsodomistic ways and your 'sploderific fanboyism over everything Gears and Halo. That's a good thing, by the way...being a fanboy and all.
The line art of the sketch I did will soon be winging it's way to you!
As for Richard, Xav, Xander and the community at-large, new Fancast art is coming soon, I promise...as well as something special, a bit later!
Eric @ Sep 28th 2009 8:38PM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Dustin don't leave. You are the greatest and will be missed cause who will talk about the games that matter like Halo and Gears and Geo Wars.
Dustin Burg @ Sep 28th 2009 9:06PM
Again, thanks goes out to everyone! Your kind remarks and support truly means the world to me and take comfort in knowing that you, the Fancast community, will remain dear to my heart. Keep supporting the site, because Richard, Alexander and Xav are an amazing team that'll continue creating an entertaining show week after week. I can't say it enough ... thanks for EVERYTHING!
For those interested in what's going on with me and my future adventures, feel free to follow me on http://twitter.com/SuperDunner and http://superdunner.com ... much love!
Chester @ Sep 28th 2009 10:40PM
Good luck to you Dustin, I've very much enjoyed listening to your antics every week.
Kind of a douche move for XAV not to be there for you last episode though!

Hey, I called in from Tokyo.
Alex @ Sep 29th 2009 1:32PM
Is that why you refered to Indianapolis as a state?
Rhamsey @ Sep 29th 2009 1:27AM
Dustin was the guy who sent me my GoW book when I won it earlier this summer. I'll miss him on the podcast.
Dave @ Sep 29th 2009 1:47AM
You'll be missed,Dustin! Thanks for all the great work that you did here with Joystiq and good luck with everything you encounter in the future!
jraf @ Sep 29th 2009 12:00PM
Bye Dustin we'll miss ya.
It's sad that the only real fanboy has left the show.
Phil @ Sep 29th 2009 6:09PM
Good luck Dustin, you will be missed
nord2007 @ Oct 1st 2009 5:10PM
Say it ain't so! Well, the absolute best of luck to you Dustin. You really made a difference in this gamer's enjoyment with your work on the site and especially the podcasts (countless hours of entertainment on the podcasts--I was impressed early on with how well you handled Knuckles' constant bickering). I know you'll do well with whatever your future holds.
Lee @ Oct 3rd 2009 6:18PM
Yaaaay!
Thank GOD!
This is the best news ever. Dustin was annoying, only ever played two games and just repeated everything the other three guys said, so was totally pointless and added nothing to the podcast.
I have nothing against Dustin personally, but he should never have been on the podcast because of his complete inability to provide commentary on any game that isnt Halo or GOW.
George McBain @ Oct 8th 2009 4:49PM
Agree with Lee, I will be skipping over the podcasts I have missed this past month and wait to listen to 137.
