Xbox Live Top 10: Lucidity's success is unclear
While our Live Top 10 posts are usually reserved for the endless slap fight between the Halo and Call of Duty franchises -- Halo 3 remains on top, if you must know -- our attention was drawn directly to Xbox Live Arcade this week. Major Nelson reports that South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play rests at the top of the most purchased XBLA games for the week, while Lucidity -- which debuted the same week to mixed reviews -- failed to make the top ten at all. It's not a direct measurement of the title's early success, but it certainly doesn't bode well for LucasArts' original puzzle platformer.
Based on the apparent success of South Park we have a suggestion for Lucidity 2: More cursing.

That's upsetting. I'm going to be buying this game this Saturday.
Mazrael @ Oct 13th 2009 6:30PM

the only one of those I played was Knights of the Old Republic, which was great.. only it was by Bioware, so my point still stands
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 13th 2009 7:19PM
Your point still stands because you claim a company doesn't make great games that YOU never play. Right.
Tyger @ Oct 13th 2009 7:54PM
Uhh... Zombies ate my Neighbors?
Mazrael @ Oct 13th 2009 8:35PM
for one all those games were PC, I only play WoW on PC. all my other gaming is on consoles.. I didn't like Fracture or Star Wars Unleashed
If I didn't play it, I didn't find it
finnith @ Oct 14th 2009 1:47AM
Then your comment doesn't really hold any weight does it...

Mazrael, you are the perfect illustration of what's wrong with "gamers" these days.
Reason @ Oct 14th 2009 9:15AM
Well considering he said He hasn't personally liked any lucas arts games that he has played, I don't see anything wrong with that statement. He didn't say Lucas arts sux, and some other company is better. Just a personal opinion. Gamers thinking that other gamers can't have a personal opinion or preference is what's wrong with gamers today...
Silencio @ Oct 14th 2009 10:50AM
@reason
You can't expect someone to say something that a lot of people find stupid and not get abused for it. Everyone has the right to their opinion, but if you post it on joystiq it's fair game. Personally, I'm sick of the "opinion police" that go around defending complete strangers asinine beliefs. You're not his mother. Let the mob roast him or you might be next...dum,dum,duuum!
Bazooka Dave @ Oct 13th 2009 6:47PM
I found it boring and too slow-paced.
Benny @ Oct 13th 2009 6:58PM
I love the art and music, but didnt really get on with the 'laying stuff down in front' game mechanic, which is to say, the game.
Shame. I had high hopes.
TheDrizzle @ Oct 13th 2009 7:04PM
I downloaded the trial and I fell asleep while playing it.
JUNG GUNS @ Oct 13th 2009 7:55PM
South Park game is amazing you will die laughing, Guaranteed!! YOU GET TO KILL DIRTY HIPPIES AND HOMELESS PEOPLE AND UNDERPANTS GNOMES.
nuff said.
BFBeast666 @ Oct 13th 2009 8:34PM
It's like Lemmings on rails. Which reminds me: A Lemmings port for XBLA would be teh awesomez!
But this? Nah, art and music only get you so far. The gameplay did nothing for me.
Quicksilver4648 @ Oct 13th 2009 8:55PM
I downloaded the trial to Lucidity thinking it would be another artsy game with amazing soundtrack, deep plot, and original game play. What I saw was great (yet very sleepy music), a shallow story, and basic yet frustrating gameplay. I couldn't believe that all I had to do was lay puzzle pieces down in front of her. Also, when it comes to puzzle games I like to use strategy. There is none in this game. She moves at a constant pace killing herself if you take your eyes off her for one second, and you can't really plan her path too well since you have to stay focused on her. I couldn't even manage to finish the trial because of how irritating it got. She died in scenarios even a handicapped person could pass. I understand she was in a dream but I didn't know she was also blind! It felt like I was playing "Daycare: The Game".
Justin Amirkhani @ Oct 13th 2009 10:17PM
To be honest, I don't think Lucidity is a good game at all.
It really feels like a student project with a bigger art budget.
GewurztraminerX @ Oct 13th 2009 11:29PM
The only reason I didn't get this game is because I was out of town.
Sounds like I was lucky.
ChomskyKnows @ Oct 14th 2009 1:03AM
game looks like a snooze factory. why should we be surprised?
games where you can't control the character, only the environment, as the character marches idiotically toward death unless you stick whatever-it-is underneath them, are annoying to me...
Courtney @ Oct 14th 2009 1:13AM
I never thought I would see the day when a South Park game was better than a LucasArts adventure game...but there's a reason it's selling more (hint: it's fun).
