Xbox Sky Player arrives in the UK on Oct. 27
Microsoft has announced that the UK's Xbox 360 Sky Player -- revealed earlier this year -- will finally be released starting October 27. The application will allow users to stream both live television and on demand programming, including sports, movies and popular shows. Gamers will also be able to watch programs together with Xbox Live friends using Party Mode, which acts similarly to the Netflix Party Mode available in the US. The programming line-up and pricing will be announced alongside the release on the 27th.
[Update: We just spotted the above Sky bundle on Wonderwallweb, featuring an Xbox 360 media remote, a 3-month Xbox Live Gold subscription, and a 1-month subscription to Sky Player. No word on the price, though we expect it to be measured in "quids" or some such nonsense.]
[Thanks, Dan C]

on second thought, having my 360 on all the time just to watch tv probably wouldn't be that good for it and would just increase the odds of RROD.

For any US users that are annoyed, this is pretty much exactly like Netflix, apart from we need an additional monthly subscription and a whole load less content.
But yes, we do get live streaming TV too, apparently. I wouldn't be surprised if thats a 'Coming soon' feature

yeah but you get live sky sports which i'd much rather have then netflix which i don't use

Will having Sky (HD, Sports, Broadband and Phone) and Xbox Live Gold will be sufficient, or will I need to get a third multiroom in order to use it?

Does Sky broadcast F1 and are there any prepaid cards that could be used outside the UK?
j0ewats0n @ Oct 14th 2009 8:36PM
You should be able to watch F1 in other ways as it is broadcast on BBC1 which is a non-subscription channel in the UK but if you subscribe to this you should be able to watch F1 as BBC comes free with a sky subscription anyway : )
If that makes sense

You actually won't be able to watch BBC1, if its anything like the PC service, give the sky player website a look and you can see which channels are available.

i went on my xbox today (the 27th) and sky player isn't there!
when i go on the website it tells me to go to the video marketplace and "follow instrusctions"
there's nothing there. no instructions. no sign of sky at all.
what's going on?
