Reminder: Fable II Pub Games is Xbox Live 'deal' of the week

Fable 2's Pub Games was a brilliant way to prep players for adventures in Albion before the game's release last year, but its post-launch price of $10 seemed like a bit of a gamble. It's this week's Xbox Marketplace "deal" at 400
($5).Considering that Pub Games was designed as a glorified piece of marketing, wouldn't it make sense to release it for free to generate renewed interest in the Fable 2: Game of the Year Edition (in which it is also included) or the episodic download? Surely that's the better bet.

I didn't think the Game Of The Year Edition would have the Pub Games included. It seems that only the two DLC packages were in there.

The only people that would be interested in this are people who really loved Fable II, and those people can play all of the gambling, mini-games that are part of the Pub Games within Fable II itself. What's the point of buying this besides for the achievements?

Under Microsoft's official achievement policy, the pub games are required to be free. The Completionist achievement requires the pub games, and the first 1000 achievement points are required to be free. The "see another Hero do so" clause is a bad attempt at finding a loophole.

The pub games are no longer required for the Completionist achievement. All you have to do is download both DLC packs (paid or free versions) and talk to the two new people that appear in Bowerstone Market and you'll get the items that were originally only obtainable in the XBLA Pub Games.

I kinda liked this, but never got much out of it. Online play didn't interest me, and now I doubt there's a lot of players.
If I'd have known how easy it was to rack up big bucks during Fable 2, I probably would have skipped it entirely...

Yes. It also would've made sense to release it for free to everyone before Fable 2 to generate interest in the game's initial release. (e.g., "Hey, you know all that gold you won in that free game? Why not put it to use by buying Fable 2?")
It also would've made sense to release the L4D content free to stir up interest in L4D, being so close to the L4D2 release (not to mention saving the good will lost by charging for content free on the PC).
It also would've made sense to have some free avatar items or clothing for games for the same reason, instead of charging no less than a dollar for every piece of clothing out there.
Microsoft seems to have trouble with this "free promotion" concept. Every once in a long while, they'll get it. All too often, they seem too focused on squeezing money out of what should be advertising.

Is it me or are the seals of the week becoming a joke.
Since if you have fable 2 why would you want pub games? since you can play these same games inside Fable 2.

The episodic download is just a gentle way of shafting new customers with a spiked bat. Come on, 4400 MSP, compared to the usual 2100 a "normal" 360 game on demand costs? What are the fucking benefits? NONE. No included DLC. And at a price that compares unfavorably with the GOTY edition of Fable 2, no disc, no manual, nothing.
I'd rather take a spiked bat up the ass than support or even endorse such business models. Retail box only.
