iPhone App gives Xbox Live users complete control on the go
A new iPhone application entering the crowded marketplace allows all Xbox Live addicts the ability to connect to their account and do pretty much everything you can think of. Bad news: it isn't free. The $1.99 app, called 360 Live, lets you sign into your account, browse and respond to friend requests, check messages and even creep your friend's Gamercard on the go.
But, before you slap your $2 on the table, we'd recommend you wait for Microsoft to respond to the app's list price. In August 2008, Microsoft mandated that all Xbox Live-related applications be free. So, it may just be a matter of time before the 360 Live app drops to the easy-to-swallow price of free.

About time there's an official app.
Sabo @ Nov 28th 2009 12:47PM
It's not an official app by any means. Not sure how Microsoft is going to react, especially as it's charging money, but it's likely that this won't stay up.
MemZ @ Nov 28th 2009 12:52PM
Yeah, my bad. I misread the article. It definitely looks like the best app for Live though.
robotoid @ Nov 28th 2009 1:31PM
it's all about being first right?
Bac0nator @ Nov 28th 2009 12:42PM
unless you really need to accept those friends request when not on your console just download "1337pwn" xbox live app, its free.
Clifton @ Nov 28th 2009 1:16PM
You could still use that app and add the free Add XBOX Live Friend app, and it would serve the same purpose.
joeybeast @ Nov 30th 2009 10:57AM
yeah, but who wants to be seen with an app called "1337pwn".
sleepydumbdude @ Nov 28th 2009 12:45PM
Sweet now get me an official app for my windows mobile device. I also have a android one too but probably be a while for that.
heymynameisben @ Nov 28th 2009 12:51PM
What about xbox is so important you need to pay to do it on the move?
NeoK-182 @ Nov 28th 2009 1:05PM
the app won't be taken down, Microsoft will just force him to stop charging for it.
chocolatebear80 @ Nov 28th 2009 1:23PM
would be nice for a free app for the xbox market place so you can download your movies or arcade games while your on the move
TopMugger @ Nov 28th 2009 3:21PM
The iPhone app "Friendz" has had this for time now! Been using it for months...
CRokr @ Nov 28th 2009 4:13PM
Any word if it works on iTouch too?
Nick @ Nov 28th 2009 4:46PM
Does anyone get the irony?
Microsoft, the primary OS maker of PC computers has an official app on an Apple product.
However on the Windows Mobile operating system, which happens to be supplied by Microsoft, there's no such application.
You know, as much as I hate on Apple, shit gets done and they get to really enjoy their phone.
I know I would like certain business-like integration into my phone, but hell... Screw it, next phone is going to be an iPhone.
Windows Mobile phones almost always have poor hardware construction (HTC, makers of my last 2 phones, I'm looking at you).
The OS is limited and simply not FUN.
I'll still stick with Microsoft for my OS, but jesus MS, I give up on making a phone I enjoy using.
The thought of an iPhone with a keyboard so makes me happy.
Imma stop now...
Psych Out @ Nov 28th 2009 5:21PM
Okay.
But it's not an official application.

It is against Microsoft policy to ask users to provide their XBOX Live login. This application scrapes the Microsoft web site which is expressly forbidden. The fact that this developer is charging for the application is also in violation of those terms.
The 1337pwn.com applications for iPhone and Android are the product of an Official XBOX Community Developer Program member. And, as such, honor your privacy and security. Best of all, they are FREE and used to check on millions of gamers every day.

I suppose the one question I really want answered is, can I expect my account to stay safe, by using this application? Or will the developer somehow get hold of my password and username and splurge on MS points using the card that is attached to my account?
StupidDirigible @ Nov 28th 2009 8:39PM
Actually more scary is the fact that apple and MS are working together to bring Silverlight Player to iPhones. I mean thats shows hatred of Adobe if I've ever seen it.
xboxscionxb @ Nov 29th 2009 2:03AM
i was talking to this guy on twitter and made him aware . he says he is not bound to the microsoft terms . i quoted borocouncilman and was blocked shortly there after . this guy is just trying to make a quick buck through the app store . just like all the other fart apps . 1.99 or free you be the judge .
whylekat @ Nov 29th 2009 2:29AM
Will you guys (joystiq staff) post an update if and when Microsoft responds?
LE2 Cubbyson @ Nov 29th 2009 2:43AM
this app is £1.19 in the UK and i have to say it is the best app for xbox on I-Tunes. why xbox dont make an official 1 is anyones guess and why cant i connect my I-Phone to my console
Skullfire @ Nov 29th 2009 2:02PM
This app possibly requires your login and password, which is a big faux-pass.
xboxscionxb @ Nov 29th 2009 5:33PM
It does which is why it violates microsofts terms of use.
lanceyami03 @ Nov 29th 2009 5:38PM
Yo dawg, I heard you like having yo Live account on the go so we put yo Live account on yo iPhone so you can Microsoft on yo Apple.
Mikemyerz666 @ Nov 29th 2009 5:39PM
yeah i have the 1337pwns.com app on my G1 and i asked them about adding the feature to their app to login and stuff since this app was allowed to do it so i thought Microsoft changed their policy or something but the makers of 1337pwns.com app said that this is not true and that it will be taken down, and i'm sure they'd know.
ab @ Nov 30th 2009 8:22AM
I have downloaded the freebies and they are ok. I just bought this one and it seems good, much faster to update than the 1337pwns, and the messaging seems to work well. It was only a toonie, I waste more money at Tim Horton's for breakfast. Should I be worried about the user/pass issues, I mean they could get to my Visa I guess.
HazyCloud @ Nov 30th 2009 8:58AM
I would be worried. That is the reason MS doesn't allow you to sign in with apps. MS is trying to protect their customers. Apps like 1337pwn are awesome because the app itself doesn't even need your Gamertag or Windows Live ID. You add what friends you want to watch.
ab @ Nov 30th 2009 10:03AM
Just changed my live ID just to be safe....and I wasted 2 bucks.
xboxscionxb @ Nov 30th 2009 7:17PM
This guy is site scrapin with this app. Which is a violation of xbox terms. Also you are in violation by giving your gamertag email and password to this guy/app. And apparentl can get you banned. Just learne this today.
