Fable 2 Heros can now wield Hal's Rifle

Word on the web is that Fable 2's recently released Knothole Island DLC comes packed with a certain Halo'riffic surprise that'll not only tickle your inner Master Chief fanboy, but will also aid in eliminating any and all Hobbes.
Available for trade at "The Box of Secrets" store is a new weapon that's, coincidentally enough, named Hal's Rifle. This new rifle weaponry looks a lot like the classic Halo Assault Rifle and its name, well ... it's kinda obvious what Lionhead is going for. Sporting a decent 59 damage per shot, a range of 50, 24 shots per clip and an augment slot, Hal's Rifle is a smart purchase. Especially for those who are sporting Fable 2's other Halo'tastic apparel.
Fable II Knothole Island DLC now available
For those of you who just can't get enough of the land of Albion, the Fable II Knothole Island downloadable content is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. We suppose that we should add that the DLC is only for those who can't get enough of Albion and have ten bucks to spare though, as the new content will cost you 800 Microsoft Points. The content contains new achievements, a brand new island to explore and a special Resurrection Shrine.
A quick note of clarification: there is also a "free" Knothole Island download available, but it's not what you think. The free download will only allow players without the DLC to play co-op with players that have purchased it. And no, you can't download the free DLC and play the new content with someone who purchased the premium version. You can still play co-op with someone who has it, but you'll have to purchase the premium version in order to visit Knothole Island together.
Quickie addendum: It looks like the free DLC does come with some free goodies. You can get them from Gordon the submariner (no, really) in the Bowerstone Market docks.

Knothole Island comes with 'Resurrection Shrine'

To prevent the pain that is caused by millions of fanboys attacking us with wooden baseball bats, because they claim we "ruined their Fable 2 experience" by "revealing a huge spoiler", we'll say this: Spoiler alert!
Now, for those who are daring enough to read further, onto the goods. Lionhead Studios just hinted that a certain "Resurrection Shrine" will be included in Fable 2's upcoming Knothole Island DLC. The shrine's resurrection abilities have only one use and, for those who completed their main Fable 2 quest and made a certain decision, said resurrection should be obvious. Got it?

Lionhead releases bug fixing Fable 2 patch

Lionhead just sent word that the Fable 2 patch they announced last month has been officially released and will be applied when connected to Xbox Live with Fable 2. So, no longer will the Abbott bug break the game and (sadly) no longer will children be able to be assassination targets. That feature will be missed. Also, in preparation for the release of next week's Knothole Island DLC, Knothole Island has been added to the Albion map. Go get 'em fellow hero!

Video: Insider's look into Fable 2's Knothole DLC
In typical Lionhead Studios fashion, team Lionhead is giving Fable 2 fans a look at the upcoming Knothole Island DLC using one of their expertly crafted video diaries. This is number eight, to be exact.
The video diary gives outsiders a look into the Fable 2 "going gold" process as well as what the general idea is behind the Knothole DLC. Along the way, we get a chance to see what this mysterious island will add to the Fable 2 journey, including new characters and items. Give it a watch and get excited for the Knothole Island DLC, coming to an XBLM near you January 13th.
Fable 2: Knothole Island DLC available January 13
Lionhead Studios has announced the, delayed for technical reasons, downloadable content for Fable 2 will be available on January 13. Fable 2's Knothole Island (800
) will add new quests, items and shops to the Game of the Year award winning world of Albion.
For those who do not plan on picking up the extra content, Lionhead has also revealed a new title update will be available on the same day, which we all hope will finally cure the game of its own STDs (or bugs if you want to be PC about it).

PETA gives Fable 2 its seal of approval, chicken kicking included

Looks like PETA has jumped into the yearly award gifting by announcing that the video game they feel most deserving of the title "Most Animal-Friendly Game of 2008" is Fable 2. Chosen by the PETA folks because Fable 2 carries a "strong pro-vegetarian theme" that "teaches gamers the real-life benefits of a vegetarian diet" through the game's purity points. How nice!
We'd agree with the PETA folks on the Fable 2 nod if it wasn't for a few not so animal friendly themes in the Albion world. You know, things like rewarding players with Gamerscore for kicking chickens, killing fluffy rabbits, eating crunchy chickadees and abusing your dog. True, if you do any of these activities, you'll build up your evil-ometer, but the fact that they're in the game PETA calls 2008's most "Animal-Friendly Game", well ... that's just odd. We guess vegetable purity points clouded their chicken kicking judgment.
Molyneux: Gaming in 2009 'looking a bit dry'
Being brutally honest, Lionhead Studios' own Peter Molyneux gave BBC his industry predictions for 2009 and, truthfully, isn't really all that excited."Next year [2009], well, it's all looking a bit dry," admitted Peter Molyneux, adding that "all the triple A titles came out this Christmas." Continuing his lack of 2009 optimism rant, Molyneux mentioned that "there is stuff in 2010 we can look forward to, off the top of my head I cannot think of anything next year that really excites me." Well sir, with the utmost respect, we do not agree.

Tech issues delay Fable 2 Knothole DLC into Jan.

Lionhead's first Fable 2 expansion, Knothole Island, was set for release to the Marketplace next Monday, December 22nd. Sadly, that just isn't the case anymore, because "unexpected technical difficulties" have caused its release to delay into late January.
According to the official Xbox.com page for the Knothole Island DLC, we're informed (in big red text, no less) that the late January time frame will be the Fable 2 DLC's new release. Exact date, yet to be announced. This delay is further proof of the longstanding rumor that Lionhead has been developing Fable 2 under an ancient Voodoo curse.
Sir Molyneux set to deliver keynote at GDC '09

The 2009 Game Developers Conference that's set to take place from March 23rd through the 27th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco is going to kick off with a KABOOM! That KABOOM will originate from one Peter Molyneux, Lionhead Studios' big cheese who'll be keynoting the conference during a session called "Lionhead Experiments Revealed."
Molyneux's keynote will be followed up with various learning sessions throughout the week, including sessions by developers from Harmonix, Ubisoft, Bungie, Epic and more. Remember too that last year's GDC brought us an official Gears of War 2 reveal, so it would be a fair assumption to believe Microsoft has some gaming goodies planned.
Like magic, Fable 2 Knothole achievements appear

In preparation for the Fable 2 Knothole Island DLC's release next Monday, Xbox.com has been updated with a listing of Fable 2's new achievements. All unlocked (of course) through the Knothole DLC. The three achievements tally up to an additional 100 Gamerscore and, for the most part, are targeted towards the story progression.
Side note: What's up with Fable 2's use of helping or seeing "another Hero do so" to unlock achievements? A bait tactic to encourage co-op play?
- The Collector (25GS) - Acquire all the mystery items in The Box of Secrets shop, or see another Hero do so.
- The Meteorologist (50GS) - Bring all of Knothole Island's weather problems under control, or help another Hero to do so.
- The Bibliophile (25GS) - Find all the books detailing the history of Knothole Island, or help another Hero to do so.
Fable II Knothole Island DLC arriving Dec. 22
Lionhead has informed Eurogamer that the Fable II DLC entitled "Knothole Island" will be arriving on Xbox Live Marketplace on December 22. Set to debut the same day, Lionhead will also release a patch for Fable II that will allow players that have the DLC to play co-op with those who don't. Naturally, access to the DLC will be blocked during such co-op sessions, so don't go thinking you can play it for free if a friend buys it. The DLC will also include some free goodies, including Assassin's Gloves, a weight loss potion, Knight's Boots, a book (yay?), among other things. The Knothole Island DLC, as previously announced, will cost 800 Microsoft Points.
Tricky Molyneux hints at Fable II digital release

Fearing death at the hands of Microsoft execs, Lionhead's Peter Molyneux refuses to confirm or deny rumor that Fable II will be an Xbox 360 digital download (a la Xbox Originals), but did offer a lil' tease.
"I think it would be a great thing for this studio to work on," hinted Molyneux when asked by GamesIndustry.biz about the Fable II digital release rumor, adding "I can't say anything else on it – I would be killed to death." It wouldn't be all that surprising to see Microsoft releasing complete digital downloads of Xbox 360 titles, seeing that they've been open about their willingness to enter the digital release realm. We always knew that the Xbox Originals and (to a lesser extent) the NXE's game install programs to be test runs for digital 360 titles. We welcome Fable II or any other 360 game onto our hard drives as long as Microsoft adds a financial benefit for those choosing digital over disc. Ahem, make 'em cheaper.
