Mirror's Edge demo time trials unlocked for all
After trying to jimmy open the Mirror's Edge demo's lock on time trials over the course of a few months and completely failing, we can put down the lock pick and rest our now crippled hands.EA just announced that they've willingly unlocked the time trial mode in the Mirror's Edge demo. No unlock code necessary. We're not sure how much of a sales spike this demo restriction lift will have on the retail game (probably none), but are happy no matter. We get time trials and no longer have to rely on video footage to get the experience.

Abstract Mirror's Edge DLC coming in January
EA and DICE just announced that this coming January, Mirror's Edge's first downloadable content will be released bringing with it nine additional Time Trial races in an abstract world. The content's nine races will be spread across seven all newly created Time Trial maps that promise no cops or guns and are actually based outside the city. The new maps will be less "real" and be more blocky, abstract and, well ... random.
The DLC will set you back 800 Microsoft points and, for whatever reason, Mirror's Edge owners over on the PS3 will exclusively receive an additional map for free. Thanks for the 360 love DICE.
Video: Be taken away by the Mirror's Edge theme
As up in the air people's opinons of Mirror's Edge's gameplay is, one game aspect that most everyone can agree is superbly amazing is the theme song. Sung by Swedish rocker Lisa Miskovsky, the Mirror's Edge "Still Alive" theme music is so delightful to the ear drum that we've heard it be accurately compared to angels singing a broadway symphony. You know, hardcore gaming angels on a l33t broadway stage of death. Check out the official "Still Alive" video embedded above and let yourself be taken away ...

Mirror's Edge goes 2D Flash

If you still haven't gotten your hands on Mirror's Edge or thoroughly enjoyed the experience, then we advise checking out Brad Borne's flash game Mirror's Edge 2D. That's right, Faith has gone 2D and (in the transition) hasn't lost any of her running moves.
This 2D remake (which we're told is developed in partnership with EA) boasts a rather true to life Mirror's Edge feel and includes all of Faith's signature moves including the wall climb, power lift and the ever popular ground slide. This flash Mirror's Edge experience is currently in beta with only the first level playable, but it'll release in (a free) full version form in the next few weeks. Enjoy the 2D running fun.

Video: Mirror's Edge does yellow too!
Here she is, Faith, jumping, kicking and being all acrobatic in the final Mirror's Edge trailer, the game's official launch trailer. Even better than the fact that the trailer is action filled and "jump-tacular" is the proof that Mirror's Edge has other colors than white, blue and red. No joke, there's green and (GASP!) yellow. Yes sir, we were just as amazed as you probably are right now.
Color wheel discussion aside, the trailer is enjoyable and upbeat enough to make us want to run down to our local retailer to plop down our pre-order cash. No joke.
X3F TV -- Mirror's Edge Time Trial Demo Preview
While the demo for Mirror's Edge has been available on the Xbox Live Marketplace since Friday, we know some gamers haven't had a chance to play the demo's unlockable Time Trial Mode. Available when you enter a special code when the game is pre-ordered, the time trial demo allows players to traverse the two sections of the regular demo in a battle of speed against other players online.
Once a player completes a run of the levels included in the time trial subsequent runs will pit players against a red ghost of their best previous time for each section of the level. Beat your previous time and that run becomes the new ghost. Quickly you'll learn that it's both fun and frustrating to fight against yourself. Not down with self destruction? Download ghosts from players atop the leaderboard and learn their tricks and time saving tactics.
We're not claiming to be experts at Mirror's Edge but hopefully our two level runs will show you a thing or two ... remember, you don't always have to follow the preset path.

With today's XBLM release of the Mirror's Edge demo we've been hearing generally positive impressions from fanboys across the globe. EA boss says to expect more Mercenaries

Released in late August, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames has sold 1.9 million units across four platforms. Riccitiello made the announcement when asked if EA's recent releases were considered "sequelable" by the publisher -- who has posted a $310 million loss for its second quarter fiscal release. The EA CEO also stated that each of the mentioned titles were not likely to see annual releases.

Mirror's Edge demo vaults onto Marketplace (lands on feet)

Mirror's Edge demo leaps onto the XBLM this Fri.

To heck with its rumored November 6th release, because EA just announced that the long awaited Mirror's Edge demo will be releasing to the Xbox Live Marketplace this Friday, October 31st (BOO!) Yes sir, come Friday you'll finally get the chance to live out your childhood career dreams and become one badass female messenger. Joy!
The Mirror's Edge demo will include the entire prologue, a brief tutorial and a chuck of the game's single player campaign. Additionally, those who pre-ordered the game will be able to use their special code to unlock the demo's time trial mode. Who knows, if the demo turns out to be golden we may demand a trilogy without a need to play the retail version. Yeah ... our hopes are high.

Video: Faith's animated run story

Continuing EA's exploration of her origins, the latest Mirrors' Edge "Run Story Trailer" shows us how Faith perfected her acrobatic skills and how she learned the ways of the messenger. The Mirror's Edge animated trailer (after the break) also shows us that flashlights are not an effective tool for taking down an enemy from a long range and that Faith isn't able to smile. Ever.
DICE planning Mirror's Edge as a trilogy

Talking with AusGamers, Mirror's Edge senior producer Owen O'Brien acknowledged EA and DICE's plans to continue the Mirror's Edge franchise and shows interest in developing a level editor for future sequels.
"The story we're telling at the moment is kind of a trilogy, a three-story arc," said O'Brien, "there's a lot of scope to take the story in different directions, or maybe tell someone else's story." Though, O'Brien makes it very clear that Mirror's Edge, this first installment, will solely focus on Faith and her "experiences in the world." Good times.
All said, we don't know if talking trilogy is worthy of excitement or praise, not just yet. We have a demo to try out next month and the game's retail release to play through. Then, if all goes well, we say bring on more messenger bag running sequels.

Agile Mirror's Edge achievements revealed

The MGC crew just sent word that all 1000 Gamerscore worth of Mirror's Edge achievements have been revealed and most all are acrobatic in nature.
The achievements (viewable after the jump) include the standard mission completion and combat mix, but also include a handful of "Speedrun" and movement string achievements. We can already tell that earning 1000 Gamerscore will not be a given all because of the 80GS "Test of Faith" achievement that is only unlocked once you "complete the game without shooting an enemy." That's asking a lot from fanboys who have spent years and years finely tuning their headshot skills.
