Dead or Alive 2 & DOA2: Hardcore
Continuing the story from the previous title, Dead or Alive 2 released to arcades in 1999 and the Sega Dreamcast in 2000.
A popular and often cited feature of the title was the dedicated physics engine that focused on the animation of the female characters' breasts, which was the brainchild of Itagaki.
Its emphasis on sexuality instantly made it a popular title among male audiences.
Dissatisfied with the overall product, Itagaki and Team Ninja revisited the entry into the series, enhancing the graphics and gameplay while adding new characters and features to it for a limited edition re-release in Japan that would eventually be ported to the PlayStation 2 as DOA2: Hardcore in late 2000.
