Studio of the Year - Criterion Games
It's pretty surprising to see how few votes Criterion Games is getting in our reader poll for Studio of the Year. Criterion Games is not only responsible for one of ... wait, no ... the best arcade racing game available in Burnout Paradise but they've released an entire year's worth of DLC for FREE.
New challenges, a completely overhauled menu system, new vehicles and bikes?! All free.
Now, one year after release, Criterion is throwing out some premium content and it all looks fantastic.
Criterion's treatment of Burnout Paradise shows respect for it's franchise -- which now feels like a platform itself -- and respect for the players. Considering Burnout Paradise has sold fewer than 1 million units at retail, according to a recent report, I think it's fair to say Criterion deserves accolades as the most thoughtful and classiest group of video game developers in 2008.

Have to agree with the Criterion pick. They're head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to DLC. They've set a good example of how it can be done and should be applauded for their efforts.
